Investigation of Israel's Legal System Coming

Nadene Goldfoot
Judaism perfected the humanitarian situation going on in the world over 3,000 years ago.  The 10 commandments given by Moses was a complete ratification of the then present day laws of the land, and then he came up with 613 more to make life even more perfect.  I've always been amazed with them as deep down they teach reverence for life.  You don't have to be a psychologist to understand the concept.

Jews were led to the land of Caanan by Moses and Joshua, and Israel and Judea were later developed.  The law and Torah have been the main elements of our society. We have always been taught that  all humans are sons of G-d and thus most important.  We don't take life lightly.

Though we lost our G-d led land in 70AD, we have continued our laws for 2,000 years, always discussing and perfecting them.  We are a most lawful but small group of people, making up less than 1% of the world population.  That's because we don't proselyze.  Religion is not something to be forced upon people.  It has to come from the heart.  Ours started with Abraham and Sarah, so it started as a family belief.  It still is for most of us.

Now Israel is the only democratic state in the Middle East.  Its small population of about 7 million people is made up of over a million Arabs of Muslim and Christian faiths as well as Jews and others from all 4 corners of the world.  You will see Blacks from Ethiopia and the USA as well as Orientals from China, Japan and others who have been given a homeland rescued from the oceans as well as the lost tribe of Manassa, found in India near Burma and Caucasians from every country including the USA and Russia.  A preferred occupation of many have been  becoming lawyers and doctors.  To be a lawyer in Israel one needs to have the equivalent of a PhD as it is made up of hodgepodge of legal systems left over from the Ottoman Empire.
Our American lawyers may be overwhelmed with the complexities of it all.

Israel will be undergoing a yearly review of their legal systems as many countries have been having this review as well.  This may mean that we are now a member of the nations being we get this treatment.  I just wonder if the results won't awe the people doing the investigating, for I've never seen such a wonderful society, myself.  I know that our forefathers who worked on creating Israel in the late 1800's through the 20's and 30's were bent on creating a wonderful Utopia in their ancient homeland and were  high-minded idealists.  Perhaps it's just as well that they did not live to see how our "others" reacted to good treatment of our people and have caused nothing but surrus for us all.  Yet they still hold onto their beliefs of  not treating them badly as we had been treated badly in other countries for the past two thousand years.

Israelis are not angels but they strive to do the angelic thing.  It's in their genes.  Their ancestors have been like this for the longest time.  Perhaps this review of Israel's legalities will open up the eyes of the investigators as to just what Israelis and Jews are all about.  We're a good people.  Don't kill us off.

The investigators have found that so far every country has its faults, even Sweden.  I just pray that this investigation will not be as corruptly put together as the Goldstone Report was about Israel.  It's time to have an honest report.    Israel has strived to be the light of the nations and was told they would be in the bible.  No other nation has been constantly attacked for the length of its life  and yet continues to shine in so many respects.  So many are still striving to put out its light.  Hopefully with many prayers this will be an impossibility, for without this light we will all be stumbling about in the darkness.
