Jews in Arab Lands: Then and Now

                            Ofrah Hazah, singer from Yemen

At one time there were 100,000 Jews living in Iran. Persia, as it was called, was the home of Queen Esther or Hadassah, who was married to King Ahashuaros. It was she who saved her people by telling her husband of the plot of Haman to kill all the Jews. She had to expose herself to her husband who did not know that she was Jewish in order to do this. The brave woman readied herself on a diet of seeds and nuts for three days in order to approach him on this delicate subject, no doubt to fit into that special dress.
My favorite singer in Israel from Yemen, Ofrah Hazah

Today there are about 11,000 Jews left in Iran. In my own family, a cousin's husband escaped from Iran on a camel in order to leave the country.

Algeria had 140,000 Jews and now less than 100 remain.

Egypt had 75,000. I taught in the same school as an Egyptian Jewish gal in Israel. She was teaching English. Today there are less than 100.

Iraq had 150,000 Jews, much to my surprise, although Ur is in Iraq. This is the ancient city where Abraham was born and had left. By 2009 there were about 35 Jews remaining there.

Lebanon had 20,000 Jews. Now it has less than 100.

Libya had 38,000 but now has none.

Morocco had a whopping 265,000 Jews. The heads of our English Department in Safed were from Morocco. Michelle loved Paris and had clothes from her mother from there. Many Moroccans lived in Safed. Today there are about 5,500 Jews there.

Syria had 30,000 Jews. Today they have less than 100.

Tunisia had 105,000 Jews. Today they have about 1,500.

Yemen was the home of 55,000. Today there are about 200 left. I believe this had been the home of my favorite Israeli female singer, Ofrah Hazah. She became very famous in Israel, and fell upon sad times by dying from drug overdose. I was heartbroken. She was such a wonderful and young singer.

Israel declared itself a state in May 1948 with the blessing of the U.N. Immediately war broke out causing 800,000 Jews to be forced to leave Arab countries where they had been living for two millennia. They moved to their new country of Israel, ready or not, as their native country had turned against them.

Living in Israel was not easy for them. These Jews had to compete with Ashkenazi Jews, many of which were more educated. The army duty was a place where all were treated the same and became a place of integration. Many of the towns these Jews came from were quite primitive, so they had cultural changes. Now we see that this new melting pot is doing quite well.

Democrats in Minnesota Voted In a BDS Advocate

Nadene Goldfoot
Newly elected House Rep in Minnesota,

A community nutrition educator at the University of Minnesota, working in that capacity from 2006 to 2009 in the Greater Minneapolis–Saint Paul area. In 2012, she served as campaign manager for Kari Dziedzic's reelection campaign for the Minnesota State Senate. Between 2012 and 2013, she was a child nutrition outreach coordinator at the Minnesota Department of Education.

Minnesota, that northern state full of Scandinavian descendants, just voted in  "Ilhan Omar, a Muslim Somali-American elected last week to replace outgoing Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) in the Minnesota House.  She was born in 1981, married and mother of 3 children, who spoke nicely of Jews when running and wasn't broadcasting her feelings about Israel and BDS, but has turned against Israel  immediately after winning the election.

Omar was against the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement during her campaign,  "After winning election, she now says she "supports the BDS movement." That's what we call being 2-faced!
Now we know that she supports boycotting, divestment from and sanctions against Israel.

"Somalia, a Sunni dominant nation and a member of Arab League."  In 2017, the president of Somalia refused to meet with Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, on his trip to visit in Kenya.  "Hamas’ Izzat Al-Rishq also thanked the Somali president’s position which he said “reflects the authenticity of the brotherly Republic of Somalia in standing with Palestine and rejecting any normalisation with an entity which occupies land and holy places.”

To those of us who read history, this  is nothing but propaganda from Hamas which is made up of lies.  The Hamas terrorists, also Sunni Muslims, have never held land before Israel was created in 1948 no matter what name they were under then, as the PLO or whatever, The land is the land of the Bible, land ruled by King Saul, David and Solomon and others, going back to before David's rule of 1010 BCE.  That's going back over 3,000 years that this land has been known to be Jewish land and any holy places held by Muslims has been treated with respect by Israel who can't say the same about their holy places when in the hands of the Muslims.  The Muslim Palestinians have sworn since 1967 at the Khartum Conference in Sudan, Africa to the 3 NO's, (no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it...") and No has been their answer to any meeting ever held in trying to reach a peace agreement with Israel.

Political unrest in Somalia

"Omar was born in on October 4, 1981, in Mogadishu and was raised in BaydhaboSomalia. She was the youngest of seven siblings. Ilhan's father, Nur Omar Mohamed, is a Somali, and worked as a teacher trainer. Her mother was a Benadiri, and died when Omar was a child. She was thereafter raised by her father and grandfather. Ilhan's grandfather, Abukar, was the director of Somalia's National Marine Transport, with her uncles and aunts also working as civil servants and educators. After the start of the civil war in 1991, she and her family fled the country and spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya."

By 1995, her family immigrated to the USA and settled in Arlington, Virginia when Ilhan was 14.  To be elected into the Minnesota's House at age 31 is probably pretty normal for women today, but Ilhan has been Americanized for the past 23 years, coming here at age 14, a teenager.  She doesn't seem to see the wrong in saying one thing and then going against what she ran on with a 180 degree turn-about because she has executed such an action brazenly.

She, like other Americans, had been beating the drum for the 2-state solution to the problems involving Israel and the Palestinians who are divided into 2 camps, the old PLO terrorist group now referred to as the PA (Palestine Authority) who live in Judea-Samaria wrongly called THE WEST BANK as Jordan named it when they held the land from 1948 to 1967, and the Hamas terrorists who have taken over Gaza since their 1st election urged by former president Obama.  " she told a group of Jewish voters in the state that she opposed the economic boycott of Israel, calling it "counteractive" and "not helpful in getting that two-state solution." In an interview published Sunday by MuslimGirl, Omar said she "supports the BDS movement."

A little reading would have opened up the eyes of some Minnesotans about her stand towards Israel.  "Omar has been critical of the Israeli government, referring to it as "the apartheid Israeli regime," asserting that Israel has "hypnotized the world" to overlook the aerial bombardment of civilians, which she characterized as "evil doings,]" recommending that the University of Minnesota divest from Israel bonds, and criticizing a law intended to prohibit the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. Accused of antisemitism by a few right-wing critics, she has responded that her criticism of some of the Israeli government's actions in no way implies hatred of Jewish people: “These accusations are without merit,” she said. “They are rooted in bigotry toward a belief about what Muslims are stereotyped to believe.”

Oh no, she says all sorts of anti-Semitic statements and then calls people bigots of what Arabs believes.  Well,
Israel does have about 20% of Arab citizens as well, and many are Muslims. They've had problems, a lot of problems with them, and hopefully they're all learning to live together in peace today.  It's been worse.

Tiny Jewish Israel encircled by Muslim States
All having tried to force Israel into the sea of oblivion.

I just can't buy this.  Israel is the one and only Jewish state in a world made up of 48 majority Muslim states.  Israel was created  by the League of Nations and the United Nations as a Homeland for the Jewish People.  The government is a Jewish government and we've had a running problem with Muslims ever since 1947 when the UN voted to have a Jewish state.  We've had wars with the neighboring Muslims states, and since then the wars are called by other names such as Inifadas, etc.  Right now Jews have been living in bomb shelters while almost 500 rockets, and mortars were short into southern Israel and that since the Gazans were busy burning Israelis fields and forests with flying fire kites.  For 70 years and more, Israel has been fending off the no's and the rockets, mortars and even missiles from their Muslim Palestinians which has even involved some of the Christian Arabs as well, no doubt.  It's been anti-Semitism forever, with the age old problem of Arabs wanting the Jewish lands when they saw  the Jews wanted it.

At an August candidates forum held in a synagogue during the last week of the 2018 primary campaign, she saidboycott of Israel is not helpful in working toward a two-state solution, and that "it is going to be important for us to recognize Israel's place in the Middle East and the Jewish people's rightful place within that region." That was only said to gain votes and it worked.

The president Ulysses S. Grant promised peace with Indians — and covertly hatched the plot that provoked one of the bloodiest conflicts in the West

Sitting Bull was a Hunkpapa Lakota leader who led his people during years of resistance to United States government policies. He was killed by Indian agency police on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation during an attempt to arrest him, at a time when authorities feared that he would join the Ghost Dance.  Sitting Bull Quote:  "
They claim this mother of ours, the Earth, for their own use, and fence their neighbors away from her, and deface her with their buildings and their refuse."
Anti-Semites try to show the Arabs as the natives of the land of Palestine.  The truth is that the Jews were the natives, being there back over 3,000 years, and then being run off by the Assyrians, Babylonians, and Romans but not completely.  They've always had a Jewish presence on the land.  It's the Jews who have returned to their land, finding what has been described by Mark Twain had seen in "THE INNOCENTS ABROAD," and what Meyer Levin wrote about in his THE SETTLERS."  It's what Joan Peters famously wrote about in her book, From Time Immemorial.  How many of our young new political leaders who voice dissent against Israel have read any of these books?  I even wonder how many of Jewish Democrats have read any of them, for that matter?

This all brings to mind a racial problem the USA once had in its early youth before it had developed any real ethical behavior.  It lied through their teeth to the native Americans in making treaties with them.  The natives, we called simply, " THE Indians", said the whites spoke with a forked tongue.  Of course, it is snakes who have forked tongues, and you can't trust a snake.  The whites didn't look upon Indians as equals such as Europeans, but as a primitive culture perhaps thousands of years behind their great culture.

Spiritually, some Indians exhibited a far advanced sense of spirituality over the whites while they were still in the hunting and gathering stage of development.  They had a strong sense of telling the truth and being dependable.  Again, like in religious confrontations of Muslims and Jews, power was the rule, and the whites coming in force, had the power over the less developed weaponized native Americans.  Israel had been in the same position with the Assyrians, the Babylonians and then the Romans.

By the way, President Trump, after seeing the past 70 years of his 71  years putting in lost efforts in trying to bring about a 2-state solution on people living in the Middle East by outsiders, has already decided that the 2 parties have to decide on such a conclusion if that is to end their conflict, and they can't come to such a conclusion.  Why is this 31 year old who hasn't probably read any of our history other than her own Muslim propaganda beating the issue to death with forcing BDS on Israel, which is just another bullet in the enemy's  arsenal?  Why is anyone?

What's that rule about insanity?  "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."  Well then, Trump is one leader who is not the insane one.  Supposedly,  Albert Einstein said this.   Or how about this one:  "“If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always gotten.” That was the advice of Jessie Potter, the featured speaker at Friday’s opening of the seventh annual Woman to Woman conference.

A 2-state solution is laughable at this point in time.  Continual pushing for it after 70 years is insane.  Already, the Palestinians are divided in land and in thought with 2 different leaders who disagree with each other, both fighting over power.  The land itself is so small that it has actually been divvied up many times already.  Originally, 80% of the Jewish Homeland was given away to Jordan by England who had held the mandate for Palestine for 30 years.  The 20% left-over for the Jews has been  cut into 3 pieces now; Judea-Samaria (original Jewish Israel) called West Bank, and Gaza and Israel.  What is today's Israel is a speck of land on ex-President Bush's Texas ranch.  It's pathetic. It's up to the 2 people involved; the Jews of Israel and the Palestinians who are the squatters on the land who need to decide how to live.  Other couch potatoes from distant lands could get busy and read some history, then need to either share something positive and helpful or just take care of their own problems.  The last thing is to  join a group who don't know what they are talking about and beat the drums with them.  This shows that too many politicians are just followers and not leaders.

And a former Somalian wants to make sure it's divided into 2 state solution made up of Muslims who have been brain-washed to hate Jews for generations.  I can't think of anything less friendly.  Evidently it's the in thing today to be an immigrant of color and young female but not have a good political background on your adopted new government's friends.  "Omar received the largest percentage of the vote of any female candidate for U.S. House in state history, as well as the largest percentage of the vote for a non-incumbent candidate for U.S. House (excluding those running against only non-major-party candidates) in state history."  What's happened to all those sharp Scandinavian descendants living in Minnesota?

The Land of Edom AKA Idumea, Enemies of Jews and Why

Nadene Goldfoot
Mentioned in Gen.33:14;  Num. 24:18
In the southeast section of Israel was a country called Mount Seir, otherwise known as EDOM or IDUMEA.    It was in the mountains and easily fortified.  The land was most fertile.  EDOM was south of the Dead Sea and bordered on the Red Sea at Elath and Ezion Geber.

Esau and Jacob, twins of Isaac
The Edomites were Semitic people, traditionally the descendants of Esau who was the oldest twin of Isaac, twin brother of Jacob. Evidently they were not identical twins.   When they grew up, they became enemies even though they were twins.  Though born minutes apart, Esau was born first and claimed the right of the first born inheritance.  Jacob managed to get it instead, by trickery,  angering Esau, of course.   What Jacob had done was to approach Esau when he was very hungry after a hunt and had bought Esau's birthright from him in exchange for a mess of pottage.   Their mother, Rebekah also showed her favoritism by helping Jacob to trick Isaac when he was blind and dying into thinking that he had given his birthright to Esau.  It was Jacob who later struggled with an angel and by overcoming him, was given the new name of ISRAEL.   This was the way this story explains by such symbolism the relationship between the 2 nations which became hostile to each other.  The Talmud speaks of Esau with villainy and violence which indeed, Jacob's tricking Esau had brought out.  Anger and retribution knows no end as we see today.

These mountain Edomites lived by hunting.  They were stronger than the Horite people, who were there before the Edomites took the land over, and so organized themselves along tribal lines with a chieftain they called the Allooph.  This arrangement later consolidated like other people into a monarchy.  (An Israeli general is called an Aluf in Hebrew.)

Thus, the Edomites became the traditional enemies of the Israelites.  They fought King Saul and were defeated by David who annexed much of their land.  They regained their independence during the reign of Jehoram (853-843 BCE)   This was after King Solomon had died and Jehoram was the 9th king after Solomon's death in 920 BCE.  However, wars between the 2 state were frequent.

Assyrians leading away captive Israelites of 10 of their tribes
By the 8th century BCE, the Edomites were vassals of Assyria who would attack northern Israel in 722-721  BCE and take the best of the men and women as captives.  This is the time Israel lost 10 of their 12 tribes.

At the time of the destruction of the 1st Temple in 586 BCE by Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian,  they also plundered and looted along with the Babylonians all the gold and silver from the Temple.  They probably aided and abetted them in their thievery and destruction.

Judeans return from Babylon to Jerusalem
They got their upcoming by being driven from their home on the mountain by the Nabateans, forcing them to occupy southern Judah during or after the period of the Exile of Judeans in Babylon. Taken there in 586 BCE, many Judeans were able to return in 538 BCE, making their kidnapping last for 48 years.

Nehemiah (5th century BCE), famous for his writings, had to teach  the people about their
religion and get them to rebuild the Temple.
He became the governor of Judah.
The Edomites were then conquered by John Hyrcanus (135-104 BCE) son and successor of Simon the Hasmonean who had become the ruler and  who forcibly converted them to Judaism, and from then on they were part of the Jewish people.  John  became a high priest.  It was John's sons defeated the Samaritans and gained control of Bet Shean and part of the Valley of Jezreel.  Only his last years of rule had become tranquil.

HEROD was one of the Edomite descendants and had died in 48 CE.  During Titus' siege of Jerusalem (79-81 CE), they marched in to reinforce the extreme elements by killing all they suspected of having peace tendencies.  Titus, the Roman emperor was the son of Vespasian, the Roman Emperor 69-79 CE. .  He had taken over command of the Roman army in Judea from his father in 70 CE when they destroyed the 2nd Temple.  This happened after a 5 month siege.  The destruction of the Temple was deliberate an done in hoping to eliminate the Jews' national religion and center of the religion.

His mistress was Bernice, who was also his niece and  a Jewish princess.  Thereafter, they stopped figuring in Jewish history.  The name EDOM in our Talmud is a synonym for an oppressive government, especially Rome which was the worst.  This was replaced by the Middle Ages and was applied to Christian Europe.

Poland's Deplorable Part in the Holocaust

Nadene Goldfoot
Poland just passed a "Polish Holocaust Law" in their attempt to cover up the historic truth of their deplorable behavior during the Holocaust from the late 30's to probably past 1945 when the war was over.  "The bill would outlaw blaming the Polish state or nation for crimes of the Holocaust committed in Poland."

Do they plan on outlawing history books?  How about the movie, The Pianist?  In this adaptation of the autobiography "The Pianist: The Extraordinary True Story of One Man's Survival in Warsaw, 1939-1945," Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody), a Polish Jewish radio station pianist, sees Warsaw change gradually as World War II begins. Szpilman is forced into the Warsaw Ghetto.

Each country in Eastern Europe, particularly those in Catherine the Great's "Pale of Settlement," where she caused the Jews to be confined so as they couldn't live in "Russia proper,"to live, suffered in the hands of that country's government.  In my reading, I believe Ukraine was one of the worst.  Poland wasn't much better.

Warsaw Ghetto, roundup of Jews
From what I see, the citizens of Poland who were not Jews aided and abetted the Nazis in not only their hatred of Jews but their own survival, which is understandable.  They did it too well, though.  They were doing so much of the vileness going on in the killing of Jews.  They made it easier for these Nazis. Any who were not have been remembered in Israel as The Righteous Gentiles.  "Those recognized by Israel as Righteous Among the Nations are honored in a section of Yad Vashem known as the Garden of the Righteous Among the Nations."

Pogrom attack in a home in Poland-Fiddler on Roof scene
Scene of pogrom results  in Fiddler on the Roof
leaving for the USA or Palestine-to be Israel in 1948
Jews were under strict laws and the Russian Gentiles would take out their cruelty on them with occasional Pogroms, one of which broke the legs of my teen-aged grandmother.  Americans might remember such things in "Fiddler on the Roof."  Though many Jews did immigrate from Poland during the late 1800's and early 1900's, many remained and were caught in the Holocaust.  Luckily for me, my grandmother and her sisters and brothers were one of the immigrants.  Her town of Lazdijai in Suwalki  had once been part of Lithuania, but in the fighting before the Holocaust era, it had fallen into Poland's hands as it was close to their border.  She and her family had previously gone through famines and that was topped with a great amount of anti-Semitism.

Before Poland passed this law, they had promised to meet with Israeli officials with a discussion, but broke that promise, so Israel is considering the recall of their ambassador.  The bill would outlaw blaming the Polish state or nation for crimes of the Holocaust committed in Poland." Do they think they can whitewash history that is filled with all sorts of documentation of their citizen's acts?  I hold one of the books that tells all about it.  It's The Holocaust" a history of the Jews of Europe during the 2nd World War by Martin Gilbert.

Poland at the end of WWI was established as independent from Russia or anyone else and the economic position of Jews there deteriorated as a Polish middle-class pushed them out of trade, handicrafts and industry through anti-Semitism.  In 1938, the eve of the Holocaust, 300,000 Jewish men were unemployed and were emigrating on a large scale.  395,223 Jews left Poland from 1921 to 1937.  By 1939, Poland had over 3 million Jews.

Jews Rounded up and taken to Auschwitz
Nazi occupation took over and immediately set up ghettos in Warsaw, Lodz, Bialystok and other places but were a prelude to being turned into Concentration Camps and gas chambers.  Jews were brought to Poland from other parts of Europe for the gas chambers of death or the killing fields.

No one can forget the horrors that happened in Warsaw, Poland. In the beginning in 1941,  Jews were rounded up in a ghetto, and Jews suffered from starvation during a cold winter.  Children were freezing literally to death.  They stood in the streets with bare feet, knees and in torn clothing suffering.  A witness to this was Mr. Ringelblum who wrote that 70 children were found frozen to death on the steps of ruined houses.(p. 232).

Slaughter of Jews in fields, taking too long. Concentration camps were to become murder camps
For the Nazis had put the word out that they wanted to "eliminate a source of moral and physical pestilence (the Jews of Europe).  They were out do a "total cleansing," so in 1942 on July 21, the Germans seized 60 Jews in the Warsaw ghetto including 3 Jewish Council members while other Jews were shot outright in the streets or even in their homes.  The next day, the Polish railwayman, Franciszek Zabecki remembered about the train service from Warsaw to Treblinka with Jews they called "settlers."  The Poles swallowed the lie of them being "settlers."  They were of course going to their deaths.(p. 388).

Humiliation of Polish Jews by a Pole
as other Poles look on to enjoy the moment
Eight Jews who managed to leave the ghetto without permission on November 17th were given the death sentence.  They were caught in their search for food in the Aryan part of Warsaw.  Another witness, Kaplan, told how it was the Jewish police who were ordered to tie their hands and cover their eyes.  Two of those caught refused the eye covers.  The execution squad were Polish policemen who "wept bitterly" after shooting these 8.  SS officers attended the shooting.  So did Jakub Lejkin, a Jewish policeman who had dragged them from their cells.  We evidently had a few Jews involved who were totally crazy to have complied in such a dastardly act; not much of a Jew at all.

At the same time, Jews of Vilna, Lithuania were being deported by the thousands and tens of thousands and were being killed; children and women.  The Warsaw Ghetto incident was so shocking that those outside of it had sent word to Vilna to be warned.  It was too late.

Site of mass grave in Poland,
Anti-Jewish violence here after liberation!
It was Jews who was buried after mass killings in fields!
"40 miles NE of Warsaw in the gravel pits, the Germans set up a labour camp near the tiny rural station of Treblinka."  Those Jews of my era have all heard of Treblinka.  By 1942, it was a death camp.  So was Auschwitz.  The Nazis were in a rush to kill Jews and Treblinka along with other death camps were the centers to wipe ot  many hundreds of Jewish communities.  Chelmno was one of the smaller death camps in which 360,000 Jews were killed within a year.  A 5th camp was set up called Birkenau near Auschwitz  where Polish prisoners suffered cruel torments.

Auschwitz Concentration Camp
Poland itself was home to the following 4 main  Concentration Camps:
  • Auschwitz-Birkenau, Poland. The most famous and largest of all Nazi camps because of its size and the large number of lives lost within the walls of this death camp.
  • Belzec, Poland. ...

Jews had lived in Poland since the 9th century, in the 800's.  We don't know for sure if they had immigrated there from Germany or Bohemia or from the kingdom of Kiev and the Byzantine Empire, but they were apparently  also coming in from Khazaria as well.  They were traders who in the Dark Ages had helped to open up the area to civilization.  They received their first charter in 905.  Jews, in order to live, were of a different religion, so they needed a charter.  The land suffered from Tartar invasions in 1240's that utterly devastated Poland.  To restore their economy, Polish kings had encouraged merchants from Germany to settle, and they were followed by the Jews.  This brought in Jews who settled to White Russia and Little Poland and to Lithuania in 1388/89.

In a very Catholic country, Jews were prospering in economics, especially in Warsaw and Lodz and held key positions in foreign trade, timber, grain and metal trades.  By the end of the 19th century, Polish anti- Semites supported their clergy, and then the press launched a campaign against Jews.  The great majority of political groups joined them and by 1881 there was a large pogrom in Warsaw.

What happened?  At this point, Zionism took hold of the Jews who were praying 3 times a day anyway for the return to Zion (Jerusalem).  This was something they had been doing since 70 CE when their capital had been burned down by the Romans and their ancestors were taken as slaves or if luckier, had to flee from Roman soldiers.  This was also a period of vast immigration of Polish Jews to the USA.  WWI's end in 1917 had caused talks with Jewish leaders and European leaders through  the League of Nations in the creation of a Jewish Homeland out of the Ottoman Empire's 400 year old hold on "Palestine, a name given to land by the Romans in 132 in their anger at a Jewish uprising by General (Aluf) Bar Kokhba in which Bar Kokhba reheld Jerusalem for 3 years, giving the Romans a fight they hadn't had for some time.

City where so many Jews met a horrible death
From July 22 until September 12, 1942, German SS and police units, assisted by auxiliaries, carried out mass deportations from the Warsaw ghetto to the Treblinka killing center. During this period, the Germans deported about 265,000 Jews from Warsaw to Treblinka; they killed approximately 35,000 Jews inside the ghetto during the operation after so many had starved to death.
In response to this outrageous Polish Law, Israel is taking steps.
"61 Knesset members from the coalition and opposition, outlined new legislation that would make denying the Holocaust or diminishing the role of Nazi collaborators a criminal offense under Israeli law."

“The Polish attempts to rewrite history and to shut Holocaust survivors’ mouths is audacious, shocking and despicable. We will not allow the collaborators to hide behind the Nazis and deny their historic responsibility,” the Jerusalem Post quoted Knesset member Itzik Shmuly of the Zionist Union, one of the co-sponsors of the new law, as saying."

Even after the Holocaust, Poles kept on killing Jews.  No Nazi was there prodding them on.  The climax of pot-war killings came on July 4, 1946.  Three days earlier, an 8 year old Polish boy fromKielce, disappeared from him home but 2 days later he returned, claiming that he had been kept in a cellar by 2 Jews who wanted to kill him.  The truth was that he had stayed in a friend's home in a nearby village.  The friend told him what excuse to give. to his parents.  42 Jews were killed in one day as a result of that lie.  Almost all the Jews who were in one building were shot, stoned to death or killed with axes and blunt instruments.  In Kielce itself, Jews were murdered in their homes or dragged into streets and killed by the mob.  2 were little children.  4 were teenagers on their way to Palestine.  3 were officers in the Polish army.  7 were unnamed, unable to be identified, one was known to be a survivor of Birkenau because of his tattoo on his arm; B2969.

After this final pogrom, half of the Jews who had survived left Poland for Palestine, Western Europe, Britain, USA, Latin America and Australia.  I'm just amazed that there were Polish Jews who had survived the Holocaust.  Imagine doing that, living through such a horror only to come home and be slaughtered in another Pogrom of your ancestors.

Governors Committing to Israel and Against BDS

Nadene Goldfoot
Portland, Oregon has been fighting against the BDS movement against Israel. This stands for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel.  The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement works to end international support for Israel's oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law.

The truth of the matter is that Israel is not oppressing the Palestinians.  In fact, they have done the very opposite, only to be viciously attacked by them since 1948 when Israel announced their statehood, as complying with the League of Nations in 1920 as well as the United Nations in 1947.

This group of Arabs, whose grandparents  used to call themselves Syrian Arabs, have been used as pawns by the leaders of other newly-formed and old Middle East Nations surrounding Israel.  They've been led by the terrorist, Arafat of Egypt, and now Abbas who has taken over since his death.  If anyone is oppressed it is these Arabs by Abbas, not by Israel, for he governs them, and does it very poorly.

Major wars broke out 5 minutes after Israel announced their independence from the mandate of Great Britain, whose 30 years of time was up.  Without even uniforms or an army, Israelis defended themselves as it was life and death for them with the Arabs chanting to drive them into the sea.  Following wars occurred in 1956 and then the big one in 1973.

Countries who couldn't whip Israel and drive her into the sea have come up with this act to cripple Israel financially, which would even hurt her ability to pay her debts back to the USA besides harming herself.

Israel has been a country that has been most creative in developing businesses in order to support themselves.  Their biggest expense has been on defensive weapons bought from the USA.  Their own people, men and women, serve in the army called the IDF (Israel Defense Force).  The USA has not had to fight for them.  Now half of our states, by ignoring a request to join the movement AGAINST  this crippling force field are in truth  denying them the right to support themselves and not be a burden on anyone,  The money for defense, on the other hand, must all be spent in the USA in order to support their economy.

Anyone who has studied Israel's past and present history knows that this tiny country of only 6 million Jews and 1.7 million Arabs have not oppressed the Palestinian Arabs, but themselves have suffered and lost lives because of their histrionics used in the attempt to destroy Israel.

Oregon's governor is the 27th to sign on and be against BDS.  She's also running again on her Democratic ticket.

This means that 28  states have signed on to be against BDS as of this writing.  The District of Columbia where Washington DC sit has signed and is against BDS.   There are 22 more that could sign and join them against this most unfair act.  They are:
