Social Networking: Facebook Takes Netanyahu by Surprise

Palestinians are fighting in a new way.  They have connected with each other on Facebook bringing about massive almost nonviolent protests.  By doing this they are trying to win international sympathy for their cause of  overtaking Israel.  This is coming about because of the Palestinian's determination to go to the UN General Assembly to get them to recognize a Palestinian state in September without Israel's input. 
The Palestinians were able to approach Israel's guns without being armed.  Their leader said that those who threw rocks at the police or IDF or homes failed to attend workshops on nonviolence.  This is their "new paradigm for the conflict."  This method seemed to bring down dictatorships in Egypt and Tunisia so they're trying it on Israel.

Egypt and Jordan do have treaties with Israel and tried to block the demonstration.  Lebanon is hostile so the demonstrators were able to ease their way into Israel's military zones.  Damascus had their hands full with their own problems.  The marchers were made up of older women and men and students.  Two days before, George Mitchell had resigned as the special envoy for peace and this seemed to stir the crowd up. 

The protestors have forced Hamas and Fatah to join together and now they think they have a new way to get Israel to do their bidding.  Nonviolence is their new method.  The goal is to get the international community to turn against Israel by getting them to violate human rights.

Follow-up: 5/17/11: The White House accused the Syrian government on Monday of inciting deadly border clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinian demonstrators, saying Damascus was trying to distract attention from its own violent crackdown on protests. White House spokesman Jay Carney said Israel "has the right to prevent unauthorized crossing at its borders." (Reuters)

Nakba Day Destructive for Israel and Arabs

Israel knew that there would be demonstrations on the Arab "Nakba Day",  the Arab day of mourning because Israel had been created.  Arab demonstrations in and around Israel have historically been attended with some violence, so Israel thought they were prepared for anything.  Israel allows demonstrations being they are a democratic society but they do not allow rioting as this causes people to be hurt.  So they had the police and the army out for protection. 

This time the Palestinians also had with them Syrians and Hizballah, the anti-Israel terrorist party of God , making a force of monumental size, more like a Mongol invasion.  Hizballah are followers of the former Shiaa Imam Khomeini of Iran.  Three borders were breached by these invaders with a blood lust.  They crashed through the Golan and Lebanon borders and the Gaza Strip.  Dozens overran the Israeli Golan village of Majd al Shams and put up Syrian and Palestinian flags in the square.

Palestinians are being sponsored by Hizballah and they crashed through the Lebanese-Israeli border and damaged IDF installation.  Hundreds battered the Erez crossing from the Gaza Strip.

Israel had to defend themselves.   Many Israelis were injured.  On the Syrian border thousands were in the act of crossing the border but were finally halted. 

Debka File had reported that Damascus, Syria had planned trouble against Israel to divert people from the rebellion against the Assad regime.  Bashar Assad's cousin Ramy Makhlouf had threatened on the 10th that if Americans and Europeans didn't stop backing the Syrian anti-regime uprising, they would  go to war on Israel or Palestinians to harm Israel.  Israel needed more forces than they had along the Golan border as this turned out to be breached. 

The Lebanese army was on high alert on the Syrian border.  Syrian forces and anti-regime protesters have escalated in Syrian border villages.  At least 8 other places in Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem became problematic because of Nakba. 

The leaders are angry now that Israel dared to defend themselves and are threatening  because of it.  I suppose they think they can attack without any loss of life.  Such thinking is so convoluted.  Netanyahu reminded them that Israel would defend its borders.

Palestinians and Observance of Israel's Birthday

Israel's 63rd birthday was celebrated on Tuesday, which is according to the Hebrew calendar.  Palestinians are mourning Israel's birthday and call this day Nakba Day (translated as "catastrophe",) to be marked on Sunday the 15th.    Now that the two terrorist groups have banded together again of Fatah and Hamas, they continue to keep on Hamas's charter the goal to destroy Israel and never accept its existence.  They are planning many marches and demonstrations from now till Sunday, and these may not remain peaceful. 

Therefore this has become an uneasy day in Israel, especially in Jerusalem where they want to take over this city as their capital.  Younger Muslims have to be denied entrance into Jerusalem today as they have vowed such destruction.  Only people that are age 45 and older are allowed entrance. during this time.  The army and police are trying to keep law and security in the city. 

On May 14, 1948, Israel was declared a state through the United Nations.  Within minutes all the Arab nations attacked her.  About 160,000 Arabs stayed in their homes while others left because of the directions by their leaders.  They were told that the Arabs were attacking and they should leave and that when they won they could return and take over the Jews' homes.  It didn't happen.  The Jews won and the leaders of the Arab families got them into camps instead of returning.  They were used as pawns by these Arab leaders as a propaganda threat to Israel.  Yahoo news reports that there were more than 760,000 who had fled.  Today their number is about 4.7 million.  The leaders of today want to establish their own state of Palestine on Israel territory and have these millions return to overcome Israel.  Israel finds that this would be an impossible situation. 

Palestinians also have a website called "The Third Intifada" which calls for another uprising where they plan to have thousands of Palestinians march towards homes of their ancestors from 1948.  They want to bring in Palestinians who have made homes in other countries for this uprising.
