United Nations Human Rights Council Stacked Against Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
Almost a third, 32% or 15 nations of the UN's Human Rights Council which is made up of 47 nations are countries with a Sunni Muslim majority.  It is the Muslim Brotherhood, led by Qaradawi of Qatar who is calling for the destruction of Israel and the death of all Jews in the world.  6 of these countries are African states.  9, in bold, are Asian states (Middle East and Far East)

Members serve for 3 years but the years are staggered.  For instance, Indonesia's term ends in 2014.  Maldives term ends in 2013.

1  Indonesia with a population of 228,582,000 with 86.1% Sunnis.
2  Bangladesh                            162,221,000 with 89% Sunni, Islam is the state religion.
3  Nigeria                                    155,215,573 with 50.4% Sunni
4. Malaysia                                 27,730,000 with 60.4% Sunni, Islam is the state religion
5. Saudi Arabia                           27,601,038 with 100% Sunni  Islamic state
6. Burkina Faso                            13,228,000 with 50% Sunni
7. Senegal                                    11,658,000 with 94% Sunni
8. Libya                                         6,173,579 with 997% Sunni, Islam is the state religion
9. Jordan                                      5,568,565 with 95% Sunni,   Islam is the state religion
10. Kyrgyzstan                             5,356,869 with 75% Sunni
11. Kuwait                                    3,399,637 with 85% Sunni,  Islam is the state religion
12. Mauritania                                3,124,000 with 99.99% Sunni Islamic state
13. Qatar                                         744,029 with 77.5% Sunni, Islam is the state religion
14. Djibouti                                       496,374 with 94% Sunni
15. Maldives                                   350,000 with 100% Sunni Islam is the state religion

Other African states serving are: Angola, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Congo, Mauritius and Uganda.
Other Asian states are:  China, India, Philippines and Thailand.
6 Eastern European states are:  Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Republic of Moldova, Romania and Russian Federation.
8 Latin American & Caribbean states are:  Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
7 Western European & Others are: Austria, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the United States.  The USA was the only state that recently voted down an unjust resolution against Israel.

The Human Rights Council actually was started on December 10, 1948 with preliminary plans that commenced in 1946 right after the 2nd World War.  With 18 nation members, Eleanor Roosevelt, then a widow, worked on the draft of Resolution 217A which was a plan to recognize the rights of everyone everywhere.  56 member states passed it in 1948 with 8 nations abstaining;  USSR, Ukranian SSR, Byelorussian SSR, Yugoslavia, Poland, South Africa, Czechoslovakia and Saudi Arabia.  It is not a legally binding law but is considered a customary International law and has had several admendments  since then.

Original Article 2.

"•Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty."

The 48 majority Muslim states in the world have over a billion people in an area 672 times the size of Israel.  They have been completely intolerant of Israel, the only Jewish state in the world and which also happens to be the only Democratic state in the Middle East.

1.4 million Arabs are citizens of Israel.  They have chosen their own political groups and there are Arabs serving in the knesset. They have freedoms yet unknown in any Arab nation.   Yet Jews are not allowed in Arab countries today.  A recent earthquake in Iran caused them to call for people to help, but they let it be known that they didn't want any Jews helping them.

Jews once had 2 states; Judah and Israel.  The first king of the Jewish kingdom was Saul in 1020 BCE.  King David ruled 11004-965 BCE and then King Solomon ruled 965-930 BCE.  Arabs did not enter the land until the 7th century CE, 2,500 years after Jews had been there.  They entered with the sword, not an olive branch.  The sword has turned into missiles, mortars and rockets; now a possible atomic  or chemical weapon.

"I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse; and by you all the families of the earth shall bless themselves" (Genesis 12:2-3). One can see that Israel is following the expectations of the Human Rights Charter.  They do have the right of self protection.  One cannot follow the Muslim Brotherhood charter and Human Rights at the same time.

Qatar Blasts Israel at Human Rights Council of UN

Nadene Goldfoot
The president of the UN General Assembly is Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser of Qatar.  He has been President since September 14, 2011.  He spoke in Geneva, Switzerland as the opening speaker for the Human Rights Council.  193 member states were in attendance.  His speech was an attack on Israel at every meeting.  This man had been the former Ambassador to Jordan from Qatar.

Al-Nasser was concerned about the "Arab Awakening diverting attention from this obstacle (Israel) in the face of international peace and stability".  He even had the audacity to say that "the Syrian people in the Occupied Syrian Golan (Golan Heights) " lack "freedom and dignity."  Evidently in his mind life would be much  better under Assad.

Al-Nasser is chomping at the bit to undo Israel's membership in the UN evidently.  Israel was admitted on May 11, 1949 with 37 for and 12 against and 9 abstentions.

Next speaker was Iran's foreign minister, Ali Akbar Salehi,  who also attacked America for burning Islamic holy books.  Didn't this "Human Rights" meeting have fun blasting  2 countries that actually do have human rights?

This same Council does not get excited over acts of terrorism in the world.  In the past 10 years terrorist attacks were happening in New York, London, Madrid, Mumbai, Iraq and Jerusalem.  They were carried out by an extremist religious ideology.  Thousands of innocent people were killed.  The Human Rights Council never convened about one of them.  They didn't make any inquiries or resolutions.

Yet when Osama Bin Laden was killed by the USA which was the justice he deserved, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, questioned the act.

When Hamas and Hezbollah fired thousands of rockets against civilians in southern Israel, the Council convened sessions, inquiries and reports condemning the victim, Israel, for defending itself when it lead to Operation Cast Lead.

What did the Council do then?  They appointed Richard Falk, a man who the PA accused of being "a partisan of Hamas."  He was selected to be their Special Rapporteur on Palestinian human rights for 6 years.  Who is speaking for Israel, I ask?

Apartheid Practiced by Arab States Against Palestinian Arabs

Nadene Goldfoot
Some 300,000 Palestinian refugees live in Lebanon in UNRWA camps.  They are there because their country wanted to keep them in this predicament in a chess game against Israel.  They've been there for over 60 years.  They live as a people without any citizenship in any country.  It started in 1948 when Israel was announced statehood and Arab leaders of surrounding countries told them to leave their homes since they all were going to attack Israel.  When the dust settled these Arabs could move into Jewish homes and upgrade themselves.  The dust settled but the Jews won and so the next advice was from these same leaders; go into camps.  It's their next ammunition against Jews.

In 1959 the Arab League made a resolution of this to keep them in camps and how they were to be treated.  They realize too late that they have no rights, no citizenship, no chance for jobs.  They're on the dole from  UNRWA.  Their numbers have grown immensely though they can't get health insurance such as citizens in Lebanon have.  In 1950 there were 914,000 displaced persons.  By 2009 the number was 4.6 million.  There are 59 such camps found in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria and even in Gaza, all run by UNWRA.

This is the same story in how they are being treated in Syria and Egypt.  Those Palestinian Arabs that did not flee at the onset of the 1948 war but stayed are enjoying a democratic life as Israeli citizens.  There are 1.4 million of them.  In this group one finds Christian Arabs as well as Bedouins.

Occasionally one hears about traitors against Israel who are working with Hamas, but not often.  One such group I've heard about in Portland has been the DAM hip-hop trio who came here singing about how bad Israel was.  Perhaps they'd like to trade places with the people on the video below living in a camp in Lebanon.  It was Qatar who sponsored an Arabic teacher who was the one who brought this group into Lincoln High for a little brain-washing.  Their repertoire did not include a lot of English sung songs; and Arabic wasn't understood, but some students left saying how they hated Israel after listening to them.

"The UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) defines a Palestine refugee as:   "Palestine refugees are persons whose normal place of residence was Palestine between June 1946 and May 1948, who lost both their homes and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War."  They neglected to be specific about how they came to lose their homes and that Jews had begged them to not leave.  It's quite a lesson for the greedy.  By coveting what belonged to their Jewish neighbors, they lost their own homes forever, for the people in the camps are most likely the descendants of the original population that left.  How long is going to go on?

Many of the people living in Qatar are not native to the tiny state.  They have brought in many workers from surrounding states.  Wouldn't they like to take in some of these Arab Palestinians and let them become Qataris?

It isn't Israel that is practicing Apartheid like the enemies of Israel keep telling people.  It's they themselves that do it on purpose to hold against Israel's head as something to complain about.  As PT Barnam always said, "There's a sucker born every minute," and only anti-Semitic suckers would believe such a thing in the first place.

Over a Millenium of Having Our Promised Land: Israel and Judea

by Nadene Goldfoot
The first king of Israel was King Saul in the 11th century BCE. He was the son of Kish of the tribe of Benjamin. King David was his successor. King Solomon was David's son. Samaria was its capital founded in 880 BCE by King Omri. There were others. We lost Judea in 135 CE to the Romans. We had had two states, and then the Romans renamed the whole area Palestine to wipe out our Jewish presence. That's 1,235 years of having our own country. No wonder we mourn every year for Jerusalem. That was a long time. The United States is only 234 years old.

In 1948 our newly reborn Israel came into being through the United Nations. It had been chopped up and we have accepted half of land that was to be Israel. After many short wars we came into land that was at one time ours anyway only to find that peace talks commencing once again are talking about taking Judea and Samaria away from us to be made into a Palestine.

There has never been a country of Palestine. It was the land that had been ours laid desolate after Romans attacked in 135 CE. They cleverly renamed it Palestine to erase our Jewish presence. Before 1948 "Palestine" was administered by Britain but made up of Jews and Arabs. The British accepted this position when the Ottoman Empire fell after WWI. Administering is not the same as having your own soverign country such as Israel is now.

In about 1938 Mimi Padrow and her husband immigrated here from Palestine. They were Palestinians, and they were Jewish from Tel Aviv. Mimi's family had a hotel there. Their son, Ben, was born here and became a professor at Portland State in Speech. He also was the editor of the Jewish Review. They were our neighbors in Ladd's Addition.

Moshe Dann of Israel in his essay, O, Palestine! points out that Palestinianism was defined first in 1964 in the PLO covenant, when Jordan occupied Judea and Samaria. They referred to it as "West Bank" to distinguish it from the East Bank of the Jordan River and when Egypt held the Gaza Strip. From there we find Arabs living there clamoring for their own state. They haven't been waiting for 2,000 years to regain a land they had once owned. it's a new idea because we are there. Dann points out that the world has bought into it, and now we find that "Palestinianism" is the greatest obstacle to peace. We're in a neighborhood that doesn't welcome us and wants us out. Arabs see the land as exclusively Arab homeland. it's a big problem.

September 2nd is the start of peace talks with Netanyahu and Abbas with many other Arab leaders invited to the meeting. Egypt's Mubarak, and Jordan's Abdullah will be there. They have signed a peace agreement with Israel. The first problem they will encounter is the recognition of the Palestinians of Israel. Without that, there can be no peace. Hamas in Gaza has said over and over that they never will. With four people just slaughtered in Hebron (Judea Samaria area near Kiryot Arba) . I see Hamas influencing events there among the Fatah people. It's going to be a sticky proposition.

Note: Joshua's conquest happened in 1320 BCE. He took over from Moses who died at the age of 120 years. Moses didn't make it into Canaan, but Joshua took over and did. Moses was the founder of the Jewish religion and father of monotheism.
