Young Americans Make Aliyah and Join IDF

104 Young Americans have just made aliyah and will live on a kibbutz and then become soldiers in the IDF.  Young men and women make up the group.  They are most likely from Eastern USA.  These young people have been thinking of  this decision for some time.  They have to work on their Conversational Hebrew, though.  By making this decision, they have raised the spirits of Israelis.

Abusing Israel in Durban Conference at UN in September

Nadene Goldfoot
Another blow against Israel is planned for September 22nd, the day the Arabs go to the U.N. and will issue a request with their Lebanese friend, the President of the Security Council, about getting accepted into the U.N.  This is also the day scheduled as the 10th year anniversary  commemoration of the Durban conference at the UN in New York.

The Durban conferences were designed to fight racism, but the Arabs turned it around to fight against Israel ever since the first 2001 Durban World conference.  It had turned into an anti-Semitic and anti-Israel hate fest, instead, doing just what they were supposed to fight against.

Many countries pulled out and did not attend the next conferences because of this.  This event will just happen to coincide with the Palestinian attempt at becoming a state in violation of the peace negotiation process.  This certainly looks like a connection between the international campaign to deligitimize Israel while confirming statehood to Palestine.

How can Palestine recognize Israel when they plan to replace the Jewish state?  They are also planning on kicking out all the Jews who live in East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.  Abbas doesn't hide this fact about his vision of his state at all.  He was very adamant about it to a delegation of Democratic members of Congress who met with him August 11th.  It will be an ethnically cleansed Palestine as he will evict more than a half a million Jews.  All the while, Israel has over a million Arabs living in Israel as citizens who have all the rights as the Jews with one exception.  They don't have to serve in the army unless they want to.  They are accepted, serve in the Knesset, and Israel is sensitive to their feelings as well.  Yet they were demonized in the UN's corrupted Durban  conferences.

6th Annual Hadassah Barbeque Picnic for Family and Friends

Nadene Goldfoot
We celebrated 100 years of Hadassah at the park today with a lovely kosher hot dog barbeque.  The weather cooperated and was especially mild, making chatting with old friends most comfortable.  Hadassah is involved with the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.

Thousands of Terror Attacks by Religion of Peace (Islam)

Nadene Goldfoot
We in the Western world have been taught that the three major religions and other valid religions are all for peace and teach just this.  The more recent one born in the 600's CE may be to some, but on the other hand also believes in violence.  Since 9/11, an atrocity from a few of Islam's people believing in violence,  there have been 17,582 more attacks of terror.  These have been perpetrated on many of Islam's own people as well as against Christians. Atrocities are being committed against Christians and I haven't seen the world becoming very concerned.  Minya, Egypt has been especially hard on Christians.  A Christian farmer had his throat slit in front of his son by a Muslim mob who attacked a Christian home, and they also severely beat a pastor.  Two Christians there were slain by snipers while driving.  Attacks on other Muslims have also happened in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen and other countries as well.

This religion took its major thesis  from Judaism and Christianity with modifications.  Then it added the words from Mohammed, its prophet.  The beginnings of Islam were taught with the sword many times which is how it converted whole villages of Jews in Saudi Arabia during that period.  It was convert or die.  People forget when they speak about it being a religion of peace that Mohammed taught to hate Jews and that if they found them behind or under a rock they should be killed.  Luckily this aspect of their Koran was almost ignored when Jews lived in Arab countries as 2nd class citizens before the founding of Israel.  They lived but paid the higher price of being a Dminni, an underling, and paid more in taxes than Muslims and other such belittling facts of life. While Russia was slaughtering Jews in pogroms, the Arabs in the Middle East were fairly tolerant, considering the alternative.  The 2nd World War altered the Arab attitude toward Jews.    Today, this attitude has been revived and having Jews in their own little piece of land in the Middle East is seen as an affront to them.  They were allowed once to live in the Middle East but under the Muslim rule.  They are not seen as equals in "their"  land of the Middle East..

The leader of Egypt, Sadat, was more of a realist and did accept Israel as well as did Hussein in Jordan. Sadat was the Mentch that Golda Meier hoped for when she mentioned that when the Arabs loved their children as much as the Israelis do, there would be peace.   These two people made peace with Israel, but with the Arab Spring and Mubarak of Egypt losing his position, one wonders how the natives of Egypt will act.  Right now we see the oil pipes being attacked that bring oil into Jordan and Israel, so it looks like mob rule as well as the Muslim Brotherhood in power.

What is preached in Mosques turns out many times to be hatred for Western civilization and Jews and Israel.  The listeners are men as I see on TV.  They pray 5 times a day.  The Faith Club,  written by 3 women, a Jew, Christian and Muslim (Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver and Priscilla Warner) who lived in New York  got together to talk about their religion and the prevailing attitudes among them.  The Muslim lady knew none of the aspects of terror and hate.  She seemed to be a very kind and sweet woman with the same values as the other two.  I got the feeling from reading this book that women are not privy to the ideals of their men, at least the ones living in the United States.  I'm sure that women in the Middle East are more aware of what goes on when they are in the middle of a war zone.

Arabs have made big inroads by immigrating to Europe and America. Sharia Law is being accepted in many of the countries.   They now have 130 countries they say ready to recognize their new state of Palestine, created out of land that was not too long ago deemed to be the Jewish Homeland.  It looks to me that these European countries are taking the lessser problematic road for themselves and are traveling on the road in consensus with the Arab will.  Democracy is being buried in favor of recognizing "might is right."  Even Abbas has teamed up with Hamas and their philosophy of attacking Israel hasn't stopped the promised recognition  from others, brought on by either respect or fear!  It's hard to tell why they decide to side with Palestine instead of respecting the needs of Israel in this case, isn't it.

Look Who Will Be Head of U.N. Security Council in September

Nadene Goldfoot
Lebanon will hold the presidency of the U.N.Security Council and will have special prerogatives in September and this is why Abbas is so hopeful of success in asking for Palestine to become a full member in the UN.   Netanyahu has even offered to discuss issues at the 1967 border as Obama suggested, but this is not changing Abbas's mind.  It was an offer if the Palestinians recognized Israel as a Jewish state.  Lebanon is another Arab state where the  Palestinian terrorists of Hamas can readily get arms that are sent over by Iran through Syria.  The deck is stacked against Israel in New York.

Abbas will turn in his application September 20th but it most likely will be vetoed by the US when he presents his bid to UN Secretary Genreal Ban Ki-moon when the assembly opens.   Then the Secretary will give the request to the Security Council.

What the Palestinians want is recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria), Gaza and also East Jerusalem.  All three places have been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six Day War when the Arab states attacked Israel and lost.  This, though symbolic, would give them more negotiating power with Israel and they would then start new peace talks holding all the aces, they think, when dealing with Israel.  They easily forget that it is they that walked away from the table, not Israel.

More than 130 countries are ready to recognize the state of Palestine.  One accomplishment they are seeking is to upgrade their status to become full members of UN agencies including Unesco, WHO and Unicef.

Netanyahu still believes that only through honest negotiations will it be possible to advance the peace discussions.  Peres met with Abbas four times already trying to talk him into rejoining Netanyahu and was going to try again for the 5th time, this time in Amman, Jordan, when Netanyhu told him that they have tried enough times already.

No one should be surprised that Abbas, who is the PLO or Fatah President blames Israel and the USA for failed peace negotiations.  Arabs have a reputation for blaming everyone but themselves for any problem they have.  Dealing with Jews is especially difficult for them as Jews were the hated people of the Nazis, who they were allied with in the 2nd world war.  In their own Arab lands Jews were 2nd class citizens, or Dminnis.  The Jews of Palestine were seen by them as the defeated people from 70 CE and 135 CE.  The Jews had no country, nothing and were outcasts even in the Christian world.  No matter how badly the Arab was treated in a non Arab society, he knew that the Jew was lower than he was.  To have been defeated by Jews really hurt their pride.

Arabs have learned to think in a very different way from the Western culture.  They have been brought up with a determinist orientation, so they find good excuses to relegate their responsibility to external forces.  The ills of his society, mistakes and failures are blamed either on fate, the devil or to imperialism.  Therefore they put all blame on others but not themelves.  That's why America is the big devil and Israel is the little one.  Now they are of mind that their honor and pride can only be restored by the disappearance of Israel.   They are still profoundly anti-semitic and teach such things in their schools and homes.  The Protocals of Zion is a favorite with their people. So has been Hitler's Mein Kempf. These and many like it have not been fringe literature. Hundreds of books published since 1948 have the theme of the liquidation of Israel being a political necessity and a moral imperative and that Jewish nature is evil and it is permissable to destroy them.

Israel had come to peaceful terms with Egypt and Jordan, but a new Palestine will not be as wise, and what Egypt will be like in the future may not be the peaceful land that Sadat had finally welcomed.   I'm afraid that "Palestine" is exactly like what the Arab leaders had intended them to be; the pawn in the chess game of the Middle East that  is the most belligerent of all.

Jerusalem is Located in Israel, But Not to the White House ?

Nadene Goldfoot
Daniel Halper, deputy online editor of "The Weekly Standard", made a charge against the White House.  There is an ongoing debate as to which country the US accepts Jerusalem being a part of and it's not Israel.
He came to this conclusion because  of a recent State Department press release.

When asked about the State Department's position of Americans born in Jerusalem who want  their birth to indicate being in Israel, they replied that their policy is to not have Israel listed in their passports as their place of birth.  US Dept. of State's Foreign Affairs Manual 7 Fam 1300 Appendix D has the details.

The result of 1967's Arab-Israel War is that Israel "occupies and administers" the Golan Heights which the USA recognizes is still being Syrian territory.  The same goes for "the West Bank" and the "Gaza Strip" which the USA sees as territories whose final status must be determined by negotiations.  Nothing was mentioned of the fact that Israel has already pulled out of Gaza for peace which it didn't receive.

Halper showed a picture of the White House website that had had a caption including "Jerusalem, Israel", but that was taken down last night.  He feels that it happened after seeing his article.  The Weekly Standard is a conservative opinion magazine and blog.  This and the National Review are two of the most popular magazines of their genre.

This attitude towards Jerusalem is why the United States has not recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and is where the Knesset is.  In order to do any business necessary with the USA, citizens  must travel to Tel Aviv where their embassy lies.  Such are our friends.

Palestinians Calling Foul as Soccer Stars Play with Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
Now the Palestinians are accusing Israel of deliberately angering them by inviting sports stars to play with them.  Israeli President Peres in particular is catching all the heck and is being called "the tip of the triangle of destruction" since the Peres Center for Peace invites the stars to visit.  Peres's Center for Peace promotes co-existence between Israelis and Arabs by holding Peace Matches where mixed Israeli-Palestinian football teams play against top international teams like Real Madrid.  According to the Palestinians, this amounts to anti-Palestinian activity.

Israel just can't do anything to please the Palestinians,  so Wasfi Shahwan  wrote that "it is clear that Israel is able to invent ploys and set traps in order to attract the Arabs' favorite international football stars...to cause frustration to the Palestinians...since our enemy is shrewd, it is well aware of how the Spanish football League is admired by Palestinians and Arabs; therefore, it continued to target the stars of the outstanding Spanish League..".

When writing about Israel, the Palestinian referred to Israel as "the Zionist entity."  They write that "the Zionist octopus' arms reach out in every direction," and placed the words Israel and Tel Aviv in quotation marks showing that the PA does not recognize Israel.

This should show others how warped such hateful attitudes can take a people.  Jose Mourinho, the present manager of "Real Madrid" did visit Israel in 2005 when he was the manager of the English League "Chelsea."  He said he went to Israel to prove that football brings hope and to help the Peres Center to create a better world through having these mixed teams where Palestinians and Israelis had to learn to work together.  What you and I may think that this was indeed a wonderful concept, went over like a flat tire with the Palestinians.

No, don't anyone try to change the attitude of Palestinians that have taken their leaders so long to forge.  It must have knocked their socks off when they saw the respect an Argentinian football favorite of theirs, Maradona,  showed for Judaism when he wore a keepah (skullcap) at the Western Wall and prayed.

Despite the hateful Palestinian editorials, Peres is making inroads.  The Simon Peres Center and the Dallas Cup are coming together to let these young U12 boys just be boys. In an interview on Dallas TV, a young Palestinian boy, when asked by the interviewer how was he getting on with his Israeli roommate replied “When I came, he was my enemy but now he is my friend.”

The wonder here is that Israel has not given up hope of ever changing the Palestinian goals of not living in peace with Israel.  Perhaps a peaceful generation can come about.
