Security Council Members Not Reacting to Attacking Israel

The Security Council of the U.N. has not raised any complaint about the Hamas terrorists attacking southern Israel.  Israel has gone through a week of shelling from 39 terrorist missiles and not one remark was heard from this auspicious group who receive money in order to see to security for their members.

The council has five permanent members who are: China, the Russian Federation, France, United Kingdom and USA.  They have 15 non permanent members as well.  The first I will list are countries whose term is up this year.  They are: Lebanon, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Gabon (in West Central Africa) and Nigeria. 
With terms up in 2012 are Germany, India, Columbia, Portugal and South Africa. 

Abbas had gone to the UN for the September 28, 2011 meeting to be accepted into the U.N. This was the UN's 6,624th meeting.   The Palestinians had 8 votes but needed 9 for the passage of a resolution to accept them into the U.N.  It's thought that Britain, Columbia and France would abstain, but known that the USA would veto it.  The USA pointed out that they were not peace loving.  What is shocking to me is that the others said that they fullfilled the requirement for peace.   How can they be so blind?  Everyone should have seen that they are not peace loving and would not come to the table to even talk about peace with Israel. Instead they have chosen to bombard Israel with missile attacks.   It was thought that Bosnia, being Muslim, would vote for them but there was discussion of not giving them the vote.  The results will be known as to how they voted by tomorrow.  This is some Security Council.  They are only seeking security for themselves. 

Bosnia was involved in war from 1992 to 1995.  Being Muslim they were fighting Catholics.  It was a war between the Serbs and the Croatians when Yugoslavia broke up.  Both were reported to be committing  autrocities.

France has promised to help the Palestinians to receive a non-member status like the Vatican.

Palestinian Anti-Semites Seeking Alternate UN Membership

The Arabs living in Gaza and Judea-Samaria put on a repugnant TV program called "Sights of Jerusalem."  In it last week they showed Jews praying at the Western wall as sin and filth and that the Arabs plan to build an Arab residential area in place of the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem as soon as the Israelis disappear.  They had high hopes carrying this off as they are now members of UNESCO and are busy trying to obliterate anything smacking of Judaism in Israel. 

Rain fell in Jerusalem, they said recently on the scheduled program, to wash away the impurity of the footsteps of Jews on behalf of Muslims who come to pray in Jerusalem.  Their anti semitism is so obvious that it reeks.  They even teach that Haifa is a Palestinian Port, which of course it isn't.  I lived there for 10 months from 1980-1981 attending an educator's Ulpan and it definitely was in Israel's hands and still is. It is just amazing to me that their people could fall into believing such lies.

All these lies and conceit probably have not reached Washington's ears.  However, Obama has been able to dispel support for the Arabs' admission of a Palestine in the U.N. at this time, so that Abbas and Co. are already lobbying foreign governments in Western Europe for that type of admission.  They are campaigning in the General Assembly, topheavy with developing countries that would be siding with the Palestinians, but finding the way difficult because of the opposition by the U.S. who has promised to veto their acceptance.   Abbas has been trying to get the 9 votes they need in the 15 member Security Council for approval for membership. 

The "Palestinians" have such evil intentions;  bombing civilians in southern Israel, trying to carry out their schemes already of taking over important sites in Israel's hands to prevent Jews from visiting them through UNESCO, and attempting to erase Israel's presence in the land as well as refusing to recognize Israel at all, that I just can't see how anyone in the free world can abide such behavior.   The over one million Arab citizens of Israel have more freedom than they would ever find in a Muslim country. 

There are many groups of people who want and deserve their own state far more than the Palestinians in my opinion.  The Kurds, whose dna show that they are connected to the Jews more than any other group, have suffered and want a state.  I'd be willing to trade the Palestinians for the Kurds any day.  How about the Basques of Spain?  I knew a lot of Basques living in Ontario, Oregon and they are wonderful people.  Jews have been waiting the longest  to regain their state of any group for almost 2,000 years (.70 CE-1948)  

The Palestinians are losing out in a lot of easy money that was coming in from the USA by pushing for Observer Status now through the U.N. such as the Vatican has.  They most likely will get a majority vote for that.  Why are they doing this?  They plan to have leverage this way in order to force Israel to give in to their demands, especially to freeze building in Judea and Samaria, which they want for themselves and will make it Arab territory only, just like Saudi Arabia.  No Jews will be allowed to live in any part of a Palestine.  According to past history, they will not become a state quickly after gaining Observer status, at least that hasn't happened to any state in the past.  The "Palestinian" Arabs have been displaying the morality of Nazis in how they speak about Jews and in their missile attacks on Israeli citizens.  They don't deserve a state of their own.  What have they ever done to be worthy of one?

Palestinians Demand Meeting

Palestinians expect a meeting quickly.  They don't want any politically motivated delays.  As a result, the U.N. is hopping to it and will have a formal meeting on Wednesday.  There are 15 nations that are to be there.  It's all very hush hush. 

As a pre-condition to talking to Israel, they expect the settlement construction to be halted and that Israel must accept the pre-67 War borders.  They want their Palestine to consist of the entire Judea-Samaria, East Jerusalem and Gaza, which Hamas already controls. 

There are 500,000 Jews who live in Judea-Samaria.  This land is to be Judenrein-without any Jews living there,  "cleansed of Jews" (German) ", which came from the Nazis.   Though Abbas won't allow even one Jew on his land of Palestine, he won't recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  

They get their wish.  The U.N. is meeting on Wednesday.

Obama's Speech on Palestine at U.N.

The speech from Obama on that of a Palestinian state at this time was just heard.  He mentioned  that it was last year when he called for an independent Palestine at the podium he stood before today.  He believed then and now that they deserved a state of their own.

That's where he and I part ways.  The Arabs have shown since Israel's inception that they have refused what was offered to them as a state.  They continued to refuse when the Prime Minister preceding Netanyahu, Ehud Olmert,  offered Arafat so much, about 90% of Judea and Samaria as well as Gaza.  The Palestinian people's bubbling anger comes from what the leaders teach them in that ALL the land is Palestinian.  No, they are not teaching anything like a preparation to live in peace with Jews.

 They didn't even start on their call for a "Palestine" till after the 1967 war when they realized that Israel had won against their attacks.  Israel has endured constant attacks from these people who do not wish to live in peace.  Eight years of shelling brought about the retaliation of Operation Cast Lead from Israel.  Enough already if what they want is to live in peace.  If they really do, they have a funny way of showing it.  If these particular Arabs are suffering from any discontent, I say they have brought it on themselves with their constant attacks on Israeli lives.  That's not deserving behavior. 

However, Israel has no choice and does profess to want the solution to be a two state one.  To make Gaza, Judea and Samaria a part of Israel would delete the reasoning in creating Israel in the first place as a Jewish state, a refuge for a people who have been ill-received in the world.  It's precepts are very democratic.  Already there are Arabs in the knesset.  1.4 million Arabs are an integral part of Israel's citizens. 

The aid from the USA to bring two different minds together such as Abbas and Netanyahu have proved more than was originally thought to be most difficult.  Obama realizes after such a stalemate that primary in Israel's mind is their security, and I hope that he sees that Israel has not been  receiving it in the last 10 years. 

He says that Palestinians deserve to know the territorial basis of their state.  He fails to mention that Abbas represents Hamas as well, a known terrorist organization that has on its charter the destruction of Israel.  Right now they both are clamoring for East Jerusalem as their capital.  Why?  It belongs to Israel. 

Once, long ago, all of Judea and Samaria and Gaza were parts of the Jewish land. The kingdom of Judah was the southern state of two kingdoms divided in 933 BCE after the death of King Solomon.   The northern state was Israel.  Samaria was the capital of Israel founded in 880 BCE.  Gaza had been alotted to  the tribe of Judah.  Jews continued living there even when in the hands of others.  A Jewish population lived there throughout the Middle Ages as well, some leaving in 1917.  Others left in 1929 after Arab riots. 

Today the proclaimed "Palestine" wants all Jews out of Judea and Samaria, even the established large cities.  Their land is to be exclusively all made of Muslim Arabs.  It's the green light for Apartheid rule, something they cry out against Israel in their many lies.  It's going to take more than another year for minds to meet here.  We've been up against such thinking for a long,  long time. 

I picked up Psalms by David, King of Israel (1000-960 BCE) ,  and read this:
"Against your people they plot deviously, they take counsel against those sheltered by you.  They said, "Come, let us cut them off from nationhood, so Israel's name will not be remembered any longer!  For they take counsel together unanimously, they strike a covenant against you:  The tents of Edom and Ishmaelites; Moab and Hagrites; Gebal and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre.  Even Assyria joined with them....Who said, "We will conquer for ourselves the pleasant habitations of G-d."...

These are the same actors with different names who are still not accepting Israel.  These are people who don't even have Israel's name on the their maps.  How they could have been  ready for a peaceful statehood in one year is beyond my understanding. 

Danny Danon, a member of the Knesset,  explains that you cannot impose a peace with Palestinian goals on Israel.  Israel wants peace and this must be decided at a negotiation table.  The Palestinians were led to believe from Obama last year that he went along with their hearts desire.  Now he is advising them to go back to negotiating.  This is going to be a hard thing for them to swallow. 

Obama mentioned that he was frustrated as well.  So now Obama and the Palestinians can work on attaining their goal of a Palestine and how they intend to reach that goal.  I hope it will exclude continued hatred taught in their schools and homes as well as all the missiles, mortars and rockets they have have been using.

Abbas's Expectations on 23rd

The original Mandate,  which was a plan to create Israel offered by Great Britain, was all of Palestine which was 120,466 sq. Km. or  around 46,332 sq mi.    This happened on April 24, 1920.  Britain, ever thinking of their great empire first, then had second thoughts  as she had also promised land to the Arabs.  So they wound up giving 77% of this promised land to become Trans Jordan.  This amounted to a give-away of 92,300 sq. Km. 

Now Abbas is going before the UN and is going to ask for full membership and recognition of their Palestine state.  They say they want to end the occupation of Israel in their land.  They want Jerusalem as their capital.  Earlier they had said they wanted East Jerusalem.  Papers now say they want our whole ancient holy city.  They are planning on expecting to create their Palestine with 1947 borders.

Israel accepted the piece that was left and offered to them immediately.  They have 20,700 sq km or 7,992 sq mi. in one resource and 8,019 sq mi  in another.  The narrowest strip is 12 miles.  The length is 632 miles with a 170 mi long coastline.

 This should include East Jerusalem which is 27 sq miles in itself.  The Golan Heights is 444 or 454 sq miles. Judea and Samaria make up 2,270 sq mi.

 New Jersey, the USA's 47th largest state is larger with 8,722 sq mi.  Oregon, the 9th largest state, has 98,380 sq miles.  Now a Palestine is threatening to take what little land we have. 

The Arabs left recent homelands in their search of better jobs. They joined some Arabs that had been living in the area.  The Jews also had people who had never left.  They came back to their ancient homeland after suffering in the hands of  the countries they had tried to find refuge in.  In the late 1800's they still suffered from anti-semitism resulting in pogroms and death.  The 2nd World War brought about the death of 6 million Jews from anti-semitism.  The need for their own state was a desperate one.  The need was not even there for the Arabs.  They merely wanted a better economic situation.  They had been offered land for a state but constantly have refused in hopes of bartering for all of it.  This was a shuk mentality.  Then again, they really had no need.  Predominant in their mind was the aim to keep Jews from having it.

A Teacher/Grandmother Speaks About What to Do with Hamas and Fatah at U.N.

The Arabs are in a mighty big hurry to create their own state without coming to any peace terms with Israel.  They've also been trying to erase all signs of Jews ever having been in the land and teach their people this fairy tale.  Probably their people have never heard the following history of the Jews. 

Abraham was the father of Judaism.  He was born about 1812 BCE in Ur which is now a part of Iraq.  He was able to take his family and travel to Canaan in order to bring up his children in a new environment and teach them the rudiments of his new faith. 

Moses was born about 1400 BCE at a time the Jews were slaves in Egypt.  He had the fortune of being brought up by the Egyptian princess instead of being slaughtered as a new-born male child as per Egyptian orders and was destined to lead the Jews out of that country after some 400 years of hard labor as slaves. 

Saul was the first king of the Jews who was born about 1010 BCE, an event that happened about 400 years after Moses's birth.  Kings David and his son Solomon followed next.  The country continued until 70 CE when Rome attacked Jerusalem and it fell.  Then we had lost both Samaria and Judea and most Jews became stateless, living in other countries for 1 and 3/4  thousand years but maintaining both family and religion.  In the meantime, their homeland was overrun by Muslims and then taken over by Christian Crusaders, only to be lost to Muslims again.  This was not the time for Jews to regain their homeland.  They prayed every day not to ever forget Jerusalem, and that continues today.

Finally, in 1948 Jews who were terribly concerned about their people managed to bring about the state of Israel once again in their ancient homeland by consensus of the United Nations. It had taken over 20 years of pleading and planning with Great Britian, starting before the Holocaust.  They had to watch the 3,000 year old Jewish Community of Gaza shrink in the 1929 riots.   However, the Jewish people and the religion had lasted since its conception for almost 4,000 years, outlasting any other ancient peoples as a unit despite losing 6 million.  In the name of peace, Jews left Gaza for the Arabs who had come to live there. 

After being a recognized and accepted state for 63 years, its life is again in danger from a people who only came together mostly by accident in the past 63 years who just decided after 1967 that they needed their own state.  That's only 44 years of thinking they should be rewarded a state though most all came from nearby Muslim Arab states and were just looking for better jobs.  They have one thing in common; they are Arabs. 

They plan on asking for this decision from the U.N. in just a few days, supposedly on September 23rd.  If I were a dignitary on the United Nations, I would require these people to tell why they so desperately need to create the 48th  Muslim state and why they don't return to their original homes that they left.  Only some had been living in "Palestine" when Jews had returned in the 1800's to join their brothers who had never left.  I would say that they could never have another state next to Israel whose charter called for Israel's demise.  I would never let a people who were constantly shelling Israel to be rewarded with their own state. 

Hamas needs to write a brand new charter declaring their desire to live in peace with their neighbors and advise them to follow it.  Let them prove this with a 3 year trial period showing their desire.  Let 10 years go by as a 2nd trial period where they have to deliver proof to the UN of activities showing neighborliness and a desire to live in peace.  If there has not been one rocket shot at Israel, if all has been peaceful, then perhaps it can be discussed.  You can't even discuss a peace treaty with people whose charter says their goal is to destroy you.  Ever since Jews left the Gaza Strip, it has become a bombing area and has been used as such.  It has to stop. 

Moses led his people on a journey for 40 years that should have taken much less time, but I believe he was conditioning them to be a free thinking  people after slavery for so long.  A whole generation died by the wayside and he had younger people who were entering the promised land.  Hamas especially needs a long period to wean them off the terrible conditioning they have been exposed to of hatred for Jews and Israel.  It will most likely take 40 years to change their attitudes for the best. 

Those Arabs amounting to 1.4 million who are already citizens of Israel of course will remain and hopefully they can make a contribution towards peace.  They did not leave their homes when their greedy leaders advised them to.   They were told they could take over all the Jewish property when the Arab armies won, which they didn't.  This behavior has been admired and rewarded in Israel. 

It took the Jews a long time to establish a kingdom and it took a long time for them to regain some of what they had lost.  Rome wasn't built in a year, either.  It's absolutely ridiculous that Hamas and Fatah, both terrorist organizations,  expect to take over land, ancient land that had once belonged to Judea and Samaria, that was lost to them by Jordan through attacking Israel,  and create their own state, especially when they are criminals in the act of constantly trying to kill Jews.  Why they can't even get along with each other let alone the rest of the neighborhood.

The spotlight will now be on the U.N.  What wise decisions will they come up with?  Will the European countries stand with the USA or are they still cowards just thinking about the votes they want from the Arab nations.  May what they choose to happen to Israel happen to them as well.  While I'm giving my opinion, the U.N. should also be wise enough to acknowledge that all of Jerusalem belongs to Israel like it always had.  Enough of this shilly-shally attitude.

The U.N. Attitude Towards a Palestine: Update on Preparations

The creation of a "Palestine" is not a very popular subject among diplomats at the U.N even though most have signed on to agree to its happening.  They say it is a nuisance they would like to have behind them.  Voting to allow it to happen may be just a nuisance to them, but to Israel it is a matter of their existence.  How nonchalant these diplomats are with somebody else's life.

Most have remarked that they have been in agreement in order to get the Arab countries to vote in agreement with them in the U.N.  If they are after a higher post, they need their votes.  Canada has suffered because they have been in favor of Israel.

Even some Muslim countries are not too hot for the idea of a Palestine being created at this time.  They see the ramifications that will develop that are negative.  Saudi Arabia has been advising Abbas not to go through with the bid.  The USA has been advising against the move, promising that Obama will veto it, which will bring about the cancellation of a lot of interactions between the countries as well as some Europeans are also saying not to ask at this time without a peace program.

However, Abbas has listened and cancelled his bid to go to the UN and make his request on the 23rd only to change his mind within 24 hours and with the prodding from Turkey, plans to go before the General Assembly anyway.  Arabs are not thrilled with Turkey's takeover of importance in this matter, either. 

Because nothing has changed, Netanyahu himself plans to go to New York and enter in the debate of the creation of a Palestine without coming to any agreements with Israel.

Judaism's Position in the World

Christianity and Islam grew out of the parent religion, Judaism.  Both have borrowed from its parent.  Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) said that "the Jew is that sacred being who has brought down from heaven the everlasting fire, and has illumined with it the entire world.  He is the religious source, spring, and fountain out of which all the rest of the peoples have drawn their beliefs and their religions."

They who follow Abram's teachings will, like him, enjoy G'd's favour.  The story of European history during the past centuries teaches one uniform lesson.  The nations which have received and in any way dealt fairly and mercifully with the Jew have prospered--and that the nations that have tortured and oppressed him have written out their own curse. 

Israel shall be "a light of the nations'.  Through him, all men were to be taught the existence of the Most High God, and the love of righteousness, thereby opening for themselves the same treasury of blessings which he enjoyed.  The germ of the idea of a Messianic Age was in existence from the time of the founders of the race of Israel. In thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed,  was the promise given both to Abraham and Isaac,  promises that reached far beyond the lifetime of each that has obtained but partial fulfillment up to our time, and looks for fullest realization to that future towards which each of us in his measure may contribute his share. 

One of the ten commandments is to honor thy father and thy mother.  One could think that it is way past time to show honor to the parent of these two younger major religions.  One has many that turn a deaf ear while the other threatens to annihilate Jews and Israel.  Jews are less than 1% of the world's population, having suffered one holocaust already and another  threatened  only 66 years later by Iran and Hamas along with the Muslim Brotherhood charter. 

This is a crucial period in history for us all.  Is the world going to sit by and allow first of all for a Palestine state to be created without first coming to a peace agreement with Israel?  All indications show this will pass the first requirement in the UN.  Russia is ready to back  up whatever Hamas wants while Hamas and Fatah themselves cannot come to many agreements. Countries have come out and just given blanket agreements for recognition.  It's so much easier than fighting for the rights of a little Jewish nation.   Turkey is threatening to start a war by flexing their muscles and attacking Israeli ships sailing in the Mediterannean Sea if they go beyond the 12 mile limit. Egypt has already thrown out the Israeli ambassador who barely escaped with his life and staff from a mob with hammers, and of course there are thousands of missiles pointed towards Israel from Lebanon. 

Then there's the city of Peace, Jerusalem, of which a "Palestine" is eagerly looking to take over and make their capital.  Finally, Israel itself has young people in great need of housing.  Israel has taken in all Jews who were living in Gaza in the name of Peace as well as all who were living in the Sinai, and now face the threat of seeing all of the Jews living in cities and towns being threatened in Judea and Samaria,  as "Palestine" is to have no Jews living in it according to the Palestinian law. 

Our big brother, USA, has also seen their embassy and NATO Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan just attacked by rocket propelled grenades, RPG's and AK 47 rifles. As the UN sits back and allows Israel to be crucified, so goes their demise as well, just like the Good Book says. Instead of riling up the anger of Islam by standing with Israel, Islam sees the West as weaklings because they don't stand by their friends. 

The years of 2000 should have become a time of enlightenment.  Instead they have turned into a time of reprisal against Jews who merely find they need to live in their old homeland, who took their small allotment and were grateful only to find others who covet what they have created. Such days of enlightenment instead convict Israelis who defend themselves in attacks against them.  Whatever will history books write about such black hearted times? 

The USA House of Representatives have shown that they have a vision of clarity by backing Israel and are also acting as a beacon light for other countries to follow if they will only open their eyes and heart.  One group in the UN finally did something right by coming out and backing Israel's right to self defense during the flotilla fiasco.  It's time the UN meant something more than scratching  cronies' itches and being part of the bully gang.  It's time they showed some backbone and stood for righteousness and told Turkey to behave themselves.   It's time for them to get down with Iran and make sure they have no atomic weaponry regardless of what President Ahmadinejad tells Ann Curry.  He has said enough horrible shocking comments threatening Israel to fill a football stadium already.  His comments that he doesn't need such things goes against what he has already said.  After all, Farsi isn't a dead language.  If the UN had backbone, they wouldn't have allowed Hamas to shell Israel for 6 years in the first place.  Then maybe Goldstone wouldn't have been such a jellyfish and might have searched for the truth. 

It's as if the world has slipped back into that black period  forgetting anything that they have learned about getting along on earth.  66 years is but a heartbeat away from a time of wanting to exterminate Jews.  It must not happen again and the world holds the key to prevent it from happening.  It has started to act, and must keep on the path knowing right from wrong.

Israelis may feel that they have erred along the way and didn't see facts through the eyes of Islamists enough.  I feel that Israelis saw their decisions through the most rational of eyes in a neighborhood of irrational people.  They made the sanest of decisions.  It is the world we live in that does not understand the psychology of the environment and cannot cope with it whereas Israelis were closer to the truth of the matter but have not been listened to.

The True Facts About East Jerusalem

In 1967 Israel won the war that was an attack from all the surrounding Arab countries and in doing so gained East Jerusalem that had been in Jordanian hands illegally.

The climate before this happened was full of lies about Jews and Israel as if working up to a pitch to produce fanatical soldiers against the fledgling state.  In 1962 Egypt's goverment reprinted an old text on the blood libel against Jews, "Talmudic Human Sacrifices"  for use in their schools.  Abdel Qati Jalal gave it an update saying that "the Talmud believes that the Jews are made of different material from the rest of mankind, those who do not share the beliefs of the Jews being animals devoid of sense or they are servants and chattels of the Jews.

The lies went on. "Their wise men laid it down that there is no law but their own desire."   It goes on to repeat many a story of other blood libels in history in which they seem to present truth to the children.  They also used the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion".  This was taught to Arab teenagers as a factual work, the Jewish admission of the conspiracy to dominate the world.  So the avenging army was all worked up against Jews.  With this horrible attitude being rejuvinated again, it is a miracle that Israel won.  What lying propaganda was used by the Nazis was again in vogue in Arab countries. 

In the war of 1948, the Arab League was under Abdallah, and with British guidance, they captured the eastern part of Jerusalem including the Old City.  so, by 1967 the previous 19 years Jerusalem had been under Jordanian rule.   They had tried to obliterate the Jewish presence and all signs of Jewish identity.  They had destroyed all the synagogues.  The Hurvah was the most famous.  There an Arab put in a small stable for his ass or goat.  There had been an ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives looking over the Old City.  They tore this up and used some of the tombstones for paving and some for lavatory seats in the Jordanian army camps.  Then all of a sudden they decided to show an attachment for Jerusalem.  They went about manufacturing facts to deceive themselves which resulted in their public passion for something not even in their Koran.  Because it was an important place to the Jews, this gave them cause to also declare it theirs as well. 

After the Israelis captured the Old City in 1967, they found that hundreds of squatters had made their homes in the district.  Civil engineers cleared the ruins to rebuild the quarter after offering compensaton or alternate housing to these squatters.  This happened because during Jordanian rule, the Old City was was badly neglected.  East Jerusalem lacked the most basic services as steady water supply, plumbing and electricity.  Reunification with the rest of Jerusalem, making it one city again, meant that such services were now extended into East Jerusalem as well. 

With 1967's freeing East Jerusalem, it came a whole city of freedom and friendship.  People could now move freely throughout all the city and had free access to the holy sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam for anyone in the world.  It became administered fairly thanks to Teddy Kollek and his administration.  This was said by C.Witton Davies, Archdeacon of Christ Church in Oxford, England in 1979. 

By April 1990, the USA's House of Representatives debated a resolution declaring Jerusalem the undivided capital of Israel.  Bill Emerson praised the record of Israel's government.  Dante Fascell said that "since Israel gained control of the Old City in 1967, it has been open to worshippers of all faiths".  Even Jimmy Carter said that religious freedom had been enhanced under Israeli rule.  He noted they did a better job than Jordan.  So what happened?  Why did the USA deny that Jerusalem, all of it, was Israel's capital?  Why is the USA embassy not there?  This is because of American policy being that the final status of the city is a matter for negotiation.  A consulate is located in East Jerusalem to handle matters relating to the Palestinians living in the territories of Judea and Samaria.  Otherwise, they have their embassy in Tel Aviv. 

In 1990 Congress declared that "Jerusalem is and should remain the capital of the State of Israel" and "must remain the capital of the State of Israel" and "must remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected."  George Bush declared, "We did not approve of the status quo before 1967; in no way do we advocate a return to it now."  Secretary of State James Baker stated, "clearly, Jews and others can live where they want, east or west, and the city must remain undivided."

The UN Resolution 242 came up with the statement that East Jerusalem is considered "occupied territory."  though Israel annexed it, this violates the UN resolution.  I note that Jordan had illegally occupied East Jerusalem.  In fact, all of Jordan was originally meant to become Israel in the beginning of British decisions. 

Arthur Goldberg, a drafter of this 242, has said that it in no way refers to Jerusalem.  He told the UN in 1967 that the armistice lines of 1948 were intended to be temporary.  This was particularly true of Jerusalem.  At no time in these many speeches did he refer to East Jerusalem as "occupied territory." 

After 1948 the UN voted calling for internationalisation of Jerusalem.  Then they dropped the matter until Israel gained control of the whole city.  For 19 years the UN ignored Jordan's occupation of the eastern part of the city but adoped numerous resolutions criticizing Israel for altering the status of their once ancient capital, Jerusalem.  The UN clearly does not see matters the way the United States does.  They do have many Arab states involved in their decisions which alters their thinking. 

And now we have our present USA government causing a heart attack to Israel in talking about going back to 1967 lines and renegotiating.  I do wish they would bone up on facts concerning Jerusalem.  Jerusalem was the ancient capital of Israel, deemed  so by King David in 1010 BCE,  and Jews have been living there for more than 3,000 years.  They have been the largest single group of people there since the 1840's.  It contains the Western Wall of the Temple, the holiest site in Judaism.  To Jews, the whole city is sacred.  It never was a capital under Muslim rule, or a cultural center.  The only part they consider holy is the Dome of the Rock.  The rest of the city is insignificant.  Under Israeli rule, all Muslims can visit the Dome. 

In 1844 there were 7,120 Jews,  5,000 Muslims and 3,390 Christians living there.  In 1990 there were 378,200 Jews, 131,800 Muslims and 14,400 Christians. 

For 3,000 years Jews pray 3 times a day "to Jerusalem, thy city, shall we return with joy."  "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning."  No, we wish to remain with all of Jerusalem.  "Jews have loved her the most and have remained constant in that love throughout the centuries of their dispersion.  It is the longest, deepest love affair in history."

The group calling themselves "Palestinians" plan to have all of Jerusalem as their capital of their future state, and may have plans to start with East Jerusalem, again forcing all Jews out of their future lands of Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem (all ancient Jewish territory) .  Only because Jerusalem means so very much to Jews do they covet it.  With a Lebanese chairman in the UN to hear their cause in September, we will see what happens to Jerusalem. 

Update: Russia, and several European countries, are strongly against any Jewish presence in all of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and also are not enthusiastic about Israel's being recognized as a “Jewish state.”  I'm not surprised as Russia banned Judaism in Russia.  They are against religion, period.  The Arabs are refusing to have the same status as the Vatican.

Palestinians Join World With Money Problems

The Palestinian Authority, meaning Judea and Samaria "West Bank" is headed by Abbas.  Today they may also be including Gaza as well since they joined them in their unifying strength against Israel.  They are also suffering from lack of funds like everyone else.  They just paid their 170,000 employees in full after being threatened that the workers would go on strike for only receiving 1/2 pay the previous month.

They're looking at next month's shortfall due to lack of payments from pledged doners, especially the Arab countries.  Prime Minister Salam Fayyad attended a meeting with the Arab League to push member states to honor their commitments.  He only received $79 million so far in 2011 out of the $330 million pledged for a six month period.  Saudi Arabia sent in a donation of $30 million.  The European Union paid $22.5 million Euros  to go to the 83,000 employees and retirees. 

Prices were capped for basic food items.  Ramadan, a holy month, began Monday.  It involves fasting and nightly feasting.  Bread is now costing $0.70.  Considering a choice loaf costs over $3 in Portland, Oregon, this is a modest price here. 

The national economy minister, Hassan Abu Libdeh blames Israel's "occupation" for their problems.  He wants Israel to lift 10% of its restrictions on the Palestinian economy to represent an income higher than their monthly needs.  An example was if Israel  lifted their  restrictions on agriculture  the national income would be multiplied by 8.  Of course he forgets that certain types of bombs can be made with fertilizer. 

I suggest that if the Gazans would stop shelling Israel life for all would be much better.  This month Gazans must have used all their money to purchase the 350 rockets they fired into Israel. 

Libdeh thinks that a state that is not occupied would become economically viable and stable since international institutions have Fayyad's management high marks.  Robert Serry, a UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process told the world body last week that the Palestinians are "ready to take the responsibility of a state in the near future."  Did he mention that they have speeded up their shelling of Israel as well? 

The World Bank warned that the Palestine economy was "lacking a vibrant private sector "while Israel restricted them to receive natual resources and markets.  They have yet to prove to many of us that they can think about anything other than bombing Israel, least of all earning their living by working.  It sure sounds like a Socialist or Communist government to me.  If they're on the receiving end of Euros, what are they doing to earn it all?

What the U.N. Needs to Learn About Jews: They're Not Racists-Never Have Been

If anyone in the U.N. has ever read "Genesis" in what is typically called "The Old Testament" which is part of the Jewish "Five Books of Moses", or  "Torah", they would have read the genealogy of mankind (Chapter 10) in that the people of the world were descended from the three sons of Noah and formed one huge family.    The belief is that G-d is the Creator of the world and Father of all men.  This is the beginning of the belief in the brotherhood of man.  Now we know that we are all Homo Sapiens regardless of our color, and science proves this.  In fact, science has even come up with the fact that some Europeans carry a few genes left over from Neanderthal Man.  We all carry quite a mixture of genes. 

The spirit of Judaism is the opposite of racial discrimination.  Moses was the Jewish leader who developed the teachings of Judaism.  He himself married a Cushite woman (Numbers 12) who was considered to be of Ethiopia and was a black woman.  Moses's sister, Miriam and brother, Aaron complained about his choice and were chastised by G-d.  Perhaps this is where Jews first learned not to be racists.  They quickly learned that only marriage with someone of another faith was wrong, not the color of one's skin.   The same had happened with ethnic differences.  Once there was the law against the people of Ammon and Moab from converting to Judaism but this was abolished (Mishnah-Yadayim, 4:4).  In fact, this very point of Moses having married a Black woman has been a point used by others for anti-semitism.  We have been pointed out as a people of mixed black and white heritage.    I for one am a very mixed person with a Jewish father and Gentile mother who converted to Judaism.  My dna test shows me that I am 99.77% European and 0.23% Asian. 

Jews are not a pure race, though many carry the J1 haplogroup which is found to come from Aaron and Moses.  This is called the Cohen haplogroup because Aaron was the first Cohen. 15-23% of Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jews carry the J2 haplogroup.  In the early days of Judaism, women of other beliefs married into the group and converted to Judaism.  This has happened all through history.  Today some Jewish women have been known to marry non-Jewish men.  Most Jews are carrying non-Jewish genes as well as Jewish ones.  Even the descendants of Khazaria, a people whose royal family had converted to Judaism, are such a mixture. 

What is happening today is that a few Palestinians are  being tested for their dna and are finding they also carry the J1 haplogroup genes.  Then the story is coming out that they have been secretly practicing certain rituals found in Judaism.  Many may have not even known that what they were doing came from Jewish practices.   The history is that their ancestors were members of Jewish tribes in the Middle East who were conquered by the early Moslems and the whole tribe was converted  under penalty of death.  Of these, some are thinking of converting back to Judaism.  .  I imagine that these are already Israeli Arab citizens amongst the already 1.3 million Arabs in Israel.  So these people are finding that they are not 100% Arabs as well.  Kurds have also been found to be carrying the J1 haplogroup. Genetically they may be the closest people to the Jews. 

The problem may lie in the fact that Jews are considered "The Chosen People."  In Fiddler on the Roof", Tevia asks G-d if He couldn't choose someone else for a change as he was so tired of pograms.  Moses wrote that Israel had been singled out as G-d's Covenant people.  They out of all peoples had accepted his laws of the 10 commandments which continued to grow to 613.  (Amos 3:2)  You only have I known of all the families of the earth:  Therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities-(gross injustice, wickedness, sins.)  Being G-d's chosen meant that Jews were to be the example of rightous living for all of mankind.  If they were not perfect, they would pay the penalty.  More was expected of them.  It did not mean that they were better than others.  Indeed, this was a very hard position to have accepted.  They haven't waned for the 3,000 years they have been in existence as Judaism, first monotheistic religion, continues .

The U.N. made the charge in 1975 that Israel,  with a 75% Jewish population is racist because they were created as a Jewish state.  They compared this with South Africa's former apartheid position.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  How sad that such an elite body of nationhood can come up with such rulings without knowing a thing about a people.   Their anti-semitic beliefs have fused into their critical thinking and shows in this decision. 

Jews make up less than 1% of the world's population. They sit in an endangered species group being their neighbor, The Gaza Strip's Hamas terrorists' charter is to destroy them and Iran's beliefs are such that they are also set to exterminate them.   Christianity has 2 billion people, Islam has 1.3 billion, Hinduism has 900 million, Buddhism has 360 million and Judaism has 14 million people.  The Jews are divided almost equally between Israel and the United States with smatterings in other lands.  Though they are the smallest of religious groups, they are able to offer the rest of the world the results of their creative talents which is abundant in the medical fields. 

We have Jews from all the corners of the earth who come in all shades of colors from white Ashkenazis living in the cold countries of Eastern Europe to a darker mocha color from living in Arab lands to blacks from Ethiopia and other African countries to Orientals from China or somewhere along the Silk Route.  More Jews are now being discovered and brought to Israel as they are found to be from our lost tribes of Israel.  From what I've seen after living in Israel is that they all share one quality:  they're all beautiful people.  I just watched "Shalom Israel"'s AIPAC sponsored program on Demand TV of  interviewing a beautiful 30 year old Ethiopian Israeli woman.  Her beauty was remarkable and so much like the Ethiopians I saw living across the street from me on David Eleazar Street in Safed.  No wonder King Solomon fell for the Queen of Sheba!  Her intelligence shone as a great example of Israel's educational system.  She had become an architect and had also served in Israel's air force.  She came to Israel on one of the 3 airlifts at the age of 2 years.  She feels no racial problems.  That's Israel for you.  The goals that Israel's  forefathers had set about to aspire to are being fullfilled. 

Judaism as a religion defines the roles of men and woman and demands more of the men's time  to be in the synagogue than it does the women, but women and men are considered equally important in religious roles though they may serve differently.  In Israel's army, women serve as well and men quite often find that their sergeant is a woman.  From even before Israel's statehood of 1948, women have been fighting alongside men.  Israel even had Golda Meir as the world's first female Prime Minister.  Judaism has many faces and points of view, and women are even becoming rabbi's in the Reform movement. 

While Israel exists as the only Jewish state in the world, Islam has 56 majority countries, Roman Catholics have 49, Protestants have 20, Eastern Orthodox have 12, and the Hindus have 4. Doesn't this make the U.N. guilty of racial and apartheid practices in being against Israel?

The Palestinian Attempt in Autumn to Gain State Status

The Arabs living in Gaza and Judea/Samaria and east Jerusalem  have been told that the U.S.A. will veto their attempt to gain a Palestinian state status in the UN.  They are unwilling to come to a peace agreement with Israel.  One of their hang-ups is not being willing to accept Israel as a Jewish state even though there are many Muslim countries and states. 

Their plan is that President Mahmoud Abbas will try to get their state of Palestine in Judea/Samaria, the Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem by going to the UN Security Council.  These are territories that Israel won in the war of 1967 when all the surrounding states attacked Israel when the minute state won despite their immense attack  in six days.  Israel has completely withdrawn from Gaza with the results that the Hamas terrorists have taken over the land and have turned it into a staging ground to attack Israel.  In making this peaceful act to help in bringing about a peace, Israel has only been hurt as a result.  Since 2008 Abbas has not come to any settlement with Israel and there has only been attacks from Gaza. 

The USA will veto their attempt, and they then plan to gain recognition through the General Assembly who most likely will support their effort, but this is really meaningless without approval in the Security Council, commented  John Bolton, past U.N. envoy for the Bush administration.

In the meantime, increased shelling from the Arabs in Gaza has been hitting southern Israel in another round of violence.  This causes Israel to retaliate and hit their smuggling tunnels and Hamas centers while at the same time Jerusalem had about a thousand marchers of mixed Arabs and Israelis  for peace going through the Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah to voice support of recognition of a Palestinian state.  Their activism, called the Sheikh Jarrah Solidarity Movement,  is doing nothing to cause Hamas terrorists to consider such an idea as being peaceful.  The Hamas goal is to wipe out Israel completely, and evidently is now also Fatah's goal being they have joined up with Hamas.   Something for these marching peace activists to think about is that right now the two groups in this neighborhood are peacefully cohabitating, but what would it be like if this neighborhood were under the auspices of Hamas/Fatah as a Palestine?  Are they thinking that life would remain the same?  Have they forgotten that the notion of a Palestine means that the state would be devoid of all Jews?  They would not be allowed to remain as their idea of a Palestine is to house only Muslims.

Listening to a Deranged Individual: Ahmadinejad

Why are we being so polite and listening to the madman, Ahamdinejad, who comes to our country, stays in the best hotel and rants and raves against us? I would think that the only people who should be interested in him would be psychologists or psychiatrists.

Here we see an interesting country like Iran taken over by religous zealots who mean harm to the world, starting off with Israel. Perhaps politicians are making nice with him because he is so mad; one doesn't know when he'll send a bomb your way.

First off, he remains in denial to the world about the Holocaust, a very well known part of history of WWII where Nazis ruled the side of the Axis and caused 6 million Jews plus other people to be slaughtered. Their aim was to kill off all 14 million Jews existing in the world at that time. Muslims were a part of that axis group and cheered them on, even helping to plan ways of killing Jews. Nice cousins, we have, I see. Ahmadinejad has the chutspa to ask, "Why is the world so sensitive about killing 6 million Jews?" Evidently to him it must be a very logical and wise thing to do. After all, that's what most of us know he's planning on doing once he has his atomic weaponry ready, which many think will happen in the next two years. Ahmadinejad thinks the Holocaust has been greatly exaggerated for a pretext for the next war. Yet it's he who is doing the threatening. Israel is his first target and he's been most vocal about it.

It has been discussed in the news that since Iran has verbally threatened Israel with destruction and cannot be stopped from manufacturing its deadly atomic weapons, Israel may bomb the facilities before they are in working progress. It's sort of like, let Israel do it, for I think most all countries would like to see their facilities destroyed before we all are blown up. Ahmadinejad knows, this. After all, Israel did put an end to a facility in Iraq very carefully. So he has threatened us all by saying that if it happens they would unleash a "war without end."

He must live in a bubble. He's also saying that the United States has never won a major war. He even mouthed off that we have never entered a serious war and have never been victorious. We don't understand what war looks like. He says war, real war knows no limits. Can you imagine what he is talking about? No rules of war. Slaughter anyway you can or want. Tell this to our veterans.

The United States and of course, Israel, were not the only ones attacked in his speech. The International Atomic Energy Agency was next. He said they were dominating other countries. Gosh! He doesn't like rules and regulations, does he? That tells me he has no intention of following them. He went on to blame capitalism for the world's ills.

On Thursday he will speak before the United Nations Security Council. I wonder what more he'll say to them. No doubt he'll first complain about the four rounds of sanctions they have tried to enforce to halt its nuclear weapons program. Even Barack Obama has said repeatedly that if sanctions do not succeed, all options remain on the table. What would that be, I wonder.

Palestinians Accuse Israel of Apartheid

The favorite accusation of Palestinians has been to call Israel an apartheid state. Noam Chomsky is one of the writers who has joined in with many in the UN linking Israel with South African practices. This was even repeated in a recent meeting in Olympia of a Food Co-op who voted to boycott Israel's products because of their practice of "apartheid". They said they felt it was useful against South Africa. (see my previous blog on this)


Nothing could be further from the truth. According to international law of 1973, the U.N. defines apartheid as "inhuman acts committed for the purpose of establishing and maintaining domination by one racial group....over another racial group...and systematically oppressing them...including racial segregation and discrimination as in southern Africa.


Israel contains over one million Arab (Palestinian) citizens. They are in the knesset (the government). They are citizens with the same rights as the Jewish citizens. Nothing is restricted to them like our black citizens endured in the United States such as water fountains, bathrooms, schools, etc. An example is a hospital. Jewish and Arab babies are born in the same delivery room with the same doctors and nurses. In one case cited, the surgeon was Jewish, the anaesthetist was Arab, nurses were both. My apartment in Safed had Muslims speaking Arabic and Hebrew as well as Israelis speaking both. Schools teach Hebrew, English, and a choice of either French or Arabic. The children take three languages at the same time and think nothing of it. Arab and Jewish children help each other with their language lessons.

Israel is home to people from more than 70 countries. It is a small melting pot. Israeli Arabs are in politics, legal and medical professions and sports. In 1999, Rana Raslan, 21 years old, became the first Israeli-Arab woman to be named "Miss Israel."


Israel is made up of Jews that have lived outside of the Middle East called Ashkenazim, and Jews from the Middle East called Sephardim. Since its inception, as in the USA, they are inter-marrying. Not only did Arabs flee Israel, but Jews were pushed out of the Middle East countries into Israel.

Israel is a majority-rule democracy with equal rights for all citizens. Palestinians are Arabs who did not leave when Israel was created a state in 1948. Others, who left at the call of their leaders, were told that the Arab soldiers would win the attack which would allow these that fled to return and live in the homes of Jews if they wanted. It didn't happen and they wound up in camps in Gaza, primarily. Some also lived in Judea and Samaria. Actually, there were very few compared to the numbers of today. One reason is Muslim law that allows 4 wives per man, and they are having unlimited numbers of children.

I am a Jew and lived in Israel from 1980-1985. My girlfriend from our Hebrew class in Haifa was able to tour Egypt during our Spring break in 1982. This became possible after the War of 1972, another time when all the Arabs attacked Israel only to lose again. However, I could not tour in other Muslim countries. They did not allow Jews at all. Jordan's workers had been coming into Israel for jobs, and then they would go back. However, I couldn't go there as a tourist either, as I'm Jewish. It wasn't until October 26, 1994 that Hussein I of Jordan and Rabin signed a peace treaty which included an article 17 promoting tourism. How about Saudi Arabia? Forget it. I'm quite sure they wouldn't allow me in, even with my blonde hair. Luckily, we had signed a peace treaty with Egypt.

After the war of 1967, Gaza and the West Bank fell into Israel's hands as a result of their winning the war after a huge attack of all Arab countries. Gaza had been under Egypt's rule. Israel tried to make it better for the people, but they were more interested in killing Jews. This is why walls were put up in Judea/Samaria, and roads had to be monitored in Gaza. Israel even pulled out all its Jewish citizens from Gaza, but this only allowed the Hamas terrorists to take over and chase a more moderate but ineffectual Abbas out. He sought refuge in Judea/Samaria where he lives now. He was a leader replacing Arafat.

The Palestinian charter is definite in its goal to destroy Israel. We have offered the olive branch but it has been stomped on. It's hard to put up with people who only want to kill you, demonstrating their belief by rocket-shelling your land for over the past 6 years which continues today.

The Nazis found that by repeating something over and over, most people start to believe it. The Arabs were on the side of Germany in the WWI. That's when the Ottoman Empire of Turkey went kaput. They've taken into their own practice this idea of repetition, and keep crying that Israel is apartheid.

This problem is not one of racial hatred. It's a problem of religious intolerence of the Arabs refusing to accept a Jewish state back in its rightful place in their midst. Jews were in this ancient land before there was a religion of Islam or even Christianity. Jews have been the ones injured in this, not the Arabs. The U.N. has done nothing to prevent this type of action. It was the U.N. who baptized Israel as a state and accepted into the U.N. family, yet they side with Israel's accusers as they have money, power and oil.

Gaza and the Judea/Samaria area are not part of Israel and the people there are not Israeli citizens. Arafat maintained that distance long ago. Barriers have gone up for one reason, to protect Israeli citizens from physical harm from people who want to kill them. People in these areass are governed by Palestinian Authority, carry Palestinian I.D. cards issued by Palestinian Authority with Israeli permission and elect members of the governing Palestinian Authority.

Palestinian citizens in Israel would not be happy living under Abbas or Hamas's regime at all. They've been enjoying too many freedoms. By continuing to hate Jews, the rest in Gaza and Judea/Samaria can only blame themselves, not Israel, for any discomforts.

Israel is the only Jewish state in the world, created as a haven for Jews who have suffered from persecution ever since 70 A.D. I was a part of this ingathering of Jews from all corners of the world. This is a period of time prophesized about in the Bible. We have finally returned to our own land. There are 47 Muslim states in the world. Indonesia , the country President Obama lived in with his step-father and mother, ranks according to IMF's world Economic Outlook database for 2007 as #1 with 228,582,000 people and 86.1% are Sunni Muslims. Of Israel's neighbors, Egypt is #5 with 77,100,000 people and 90% are Sunni Muslims. Iran, though not really close, is in striking distance. It is #6 and has 71,517,100 people and 98% are Shi'a Muslims. Syria, on the border, has 19,405,000 people with 90% Sunni Muslims. Jordan , right next door on the Eastside, is #30 with 5,568,565 people and is 95% Sunni Muslim. That's about the size of Israel of about 6,000,000 Jews and a million Muslims. Lebanon in the North is #35 with 4,196,453 people at 60% Shi'a/Sunni. Their Major Hadad of the Christian Militia had been Israel's friend. In 82 we had a war with Lebanon over the Christians attacking the Muslims. That's another story.

We, of all people, are not practicing apartheid. That term applies a racial component and this isn't the case with Jews versus Palestinians. Because this doesn't fit the description of South Africa's Apartheid, in 2002 the Roma Statute of the International Criminal Court came up with an identifiable national, ethnic or cultural group instead of a racial group. Their 2009 report continued with socially constructed groups distinguished by ancestry or descent as well as nationality, ethnicity, and religion.

These may be the reasons Palestinians have been fighting us, but this law is turning the tables of who is to blame. The minute Israel was declared a state the Palestinians and other Arabs attacked us. This has been going on intermittedly for the past 62 years. Their religious intolerance has not allowed them to abide by international law in accepting us as a new state in the neighborhood. What is left to do but defend ourselves and hope for better times.

Dry Bones in the Jewish Review today says it all. Two people are talking. One says, Gaza is firing missiles again at Israeli cities and towns, But it's no big deal. The other fellow says, "It's no big deal?" "Nope", the first retorts. "And it won't be a big deal until Israel fires back." And that's the way it has been going. When we try to defend ourselves, everyone yells and complains.

The same paper headlined with Israel's right wing is now pushing for a one state solution, which would bring in over another million and a half Arabs in Judea/Samaria as citizens. The reasoning is that most Jews in Israel have been coming around in seeing that the two-state model won't happen because the obstacles to an Israeli-Palestinian agreement are insurmountable. Moshe Arans, former Israeli defense and foreign minister is behind this idea. He feels Israel would still have a 60% majority and still be a Jewish state. I say nope. It would only last for 9 months. The Muslims would quickly outnumber us, and might even bring in all their relatives on the outside. It's too risky. I just wish that Obama would see that he and the quartet are pushing for the impossible. Logic shows it isn't workable.

Free the Palestinians, they chant. Only they can free themselves by changing their intolerance and their charter. Perhaps then they will become productive citizens and have a better life.
