1967 Border Goal For Hamas: UN Declaring Statehood for Fatah

Hamas's goal is to get concessions from Israel.  They want to get as many as possible to achieve their goal found on their founding charter, which is to destroy Israel.  They want Israel to go back to the 1967 border, which Netanyahu has already explained in detail to Obama as to why Israel cannot and will not do that.

This is why Hamas has said that they will not stop arming themselves and want a strong arsenal.  They are not interested in negotiations.  These comments came from Hamas's #2 man, Moussa Abu Marzouk only 3 days after Israel agreed to a ceasefire.

Other demands are that Israel and Egypt lift all restrictions on the movement of goods and people in and out of the Palestinian territory.  They have been under a border blockade sine 2007 when these Hamas terrorists took over Gaza.  They have been eased since then but do not allow their economy to develop, they feel.  Considering that most Palestinians are on the dole from the UN, I don't see a surging economy developing anyway, considering people haven't worked at least since 1948.  That's about 4 generations of non workers.  What skills they had and could have been passed down have probably been lost.

Hamas is under the umbrella of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose charter also calls for Israel's destruction and the death of all Jews everywhere.  Just ask Qatar's Qaradawi.  His fatwa calls for just this.  Hamas now says that they are ready for a long-term cease-fire.  Usually this is when they stock up on provisions for the next go around.

In the meantime, his rival, President Mahmoud Abbas is intent on seeking UN recognition for a state of Palestine this week as a non-member state.  He wants approval of  Judea-Samaria (the West Bank renamed by Jordan), Gaza and EAST JERUSALEM as Palestine.  This would be a take-over without any discussion with Israel whose hands it is in.  These are areas belonging to Israel since the 1967 war.  Israel said it was willing to cede some land.  Israel has already moved 1/2 million Israelis into settlements on war-won land. Remember, Israel is sitting on only 20% of the originally promised Jewish Homeland as promised by the Brits who held the mandate.

What the Arab community wants to ignore is the fact that they all attacked Israel with greedy intent to destroy her.  With all their armies, they could not and they lost the battle they started.  With that in mind, these lands go to Israel.  Jews were living there as well and Jews are still living in Judea-Samaria.  Jerusalem is now one city and is the capital of Israel.  East Jerusalem receives   services from Israel just like the West, North and South of Jerusalem.  It is under much more favorable circumstances ever thought of by the Jordanians.

According to Abu Marzouk, Abbas is wasting his time. He said,   "Occupation needs resistance, not negotiations." His idea of resistance of course is War.   We keep giving away pieces of this for peace and get what in return?  Already Israel is one of the smallest states in the world.  It has 7,951.6 square miles and is almost as big as New Jersey. It would take 12 Israels to fit into Oregon.   Included in this figure is the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem.    Judea-Samaria has 2,270 sq miles.  East Jerusalem has 27 sq miles.   We have taken quite a chance with Morsi as the mediator, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who even served time in prison for that under Mubarak.

Another Columbian Disappointment Over Iran's Nuclear Capabilities

President Obama has renegged on the US-Israeli understandings they had reached before their Istanbul talks between the 6 powers and Iran on April Saturday, 14th.. This was disclosed April 16th. causing a rift between Obama and Netanyahu. This is because the US went ahead on its own and agreed to more meetings in Baghdad next month when this was supposed to be the last one.

Obama has corrected reporters at a news conference at the end of the Western Hemisphere summit in Cartagenia, Colombia that “The notion that somehow we’ve given something away or a “freebie” would indicate Iran has gotten something. In fact, they’ve got some of the toughest sanctions that they’re going to be facing coming up in just a few months if they don’t take advantage of these talks.”

Israel was concerned with “time” that was involved. American and Israeli officials had preceded the Istanbut talks with an understanding for the US to put before Iran agreed demands or concessions. Iran would be allowed to keep 1,000 centrifuges for the low-level enrichment of uranium up to 3.5% purity. This was the first time that Israel had accepted the principle of Iran enriching uranium at any grade at all.

Israel and Washington also agreed that Iran would not be permitted to keep 20% enriched uranium because this is just a short step before weapons-grade of any quantity. These understandings are known as the 1,000 principle, the final upshot of negotiating with Iran.

The outcome was that the US did not present any of the agreed demands or any other. This made Netanyahu feel misled which brought about his sharp reaction. Israel suspects that the US has granted Iran far more concessions on its nuclear program than Israel can find acceptable.

Perhaps it wasn’t just the security men that were enjoying their time in Columbia with their prostitutes. It looks like a lot of betrayal for Israel in this event, which means its life or death.

I’d say that the Columbia trip was a complete washout!

Israel's Fate Amid Arab Uprising

The Jewish Review newspaper's front page April 15th article, "Can Israel weather Arab spring?" brings to mind the fact that Israel has many political factions, and that the important leaders in Israel questioning Netanyahu's stand in the peace struggles with Fatah's Palestinian faction are the doves who are not in power.  Their position is to give up Judea and Samaria.  Just as Israel has a group called "Peace Now" who were a part of the Labor Party, they are proposing doing what Israel has done in the past, give up land for peace.  After Israel did just that with Gaza and has received nothing but missile attacks for this, I don't believe the present Likud party will go along with it, though it has logical elements to it.  Another thing they propose is to make Jerusalem a shared capital.  They say nothing about expecting Arabs to accept Israel as a  Jewish state which is the first concession that Likud expects.  They do have expectations of a Palestinian state being demilitarized, which is also on Likud's agenda.  In fact, this proposal really doesn't differ from other plans of the past ten years that were brought up. 


The problem is that Israel is not dealing with logical advisaries right now.  If instead of the foe they are dealing with, they were confronted with Canada, they would be completely wise.  This isn't the fact which makes the solution difficult no matter which way you look at it.  One has to think out the problem with a psychological understanding of the advisary.

Yaakov Perry was the spokesman for the new Israeli Peace Initiative which was the topic of the article.  He is the type of Israeli that was the subject of the book, Start Up Nation, which was about Israel's position of being the number one country that is starting new businesses.  He has been the president and general manager of a cell company and was the head of a general security service.  Naturally he has had an IDF background of army service.  He's speaking about the concerns of businessmen in Israel who are confronted with blockades against their products and country. 
Netanyahu has begged Abbas to come to the peace table, but since he decided to go to the U.N. instead to create Palestine, Abbas has refused to address Netanyahu.  From his position, he feels there is no need to have a palaver.  He has shown that it's his way or the highway and has wanted conditions met before they break bread. 

Netanyahu is up against a jury that is out to lunch.  It's like he's on trial and the opposer is his estranged wife who has been beating the children as well as practicing other physical abuses on them, but the jury and judge are all females of the same ilk and behavior.  They are finding that this father will lose the children no matter that he is the kindest and wisest father in the land.  He's set up to lose his children. 

The above is my way of expressing that Israel has done everything correct in establishing Israel.  They bought land that was exceedingly expensive, but being holy land they bought it anyway.  They went through all the legal hoops and challenges and went through the United Nations to establish Israel.  They are not agressors but have wanted to live in peace since the first moment.  They have returned to their ancient land which holds a religious and cultural meaning to them developed over 2000 years of hope and prayer and we find that Jews had never completely left in the first place.  They have been attacked by Arabs even before their country's renewed birth and the attacks have continued for the past 63 years of its life.  They have lived in a constant state of anxiety and have had to be militarily prepared for their whole existence.   The bottom line is that they have no other choice of living and intend to do just that, for L'Chaim is their watchword:  To Life! 

Israel is a democracy and they have the same magnetic pulls as the United States, the Doves and the Hawks, or Democrats and Republicans.  Netanyahu is working on yet another proposal for a peace pact and we will see what he comes up with.  The religious groups will not be happy with giving up the even more ancient and important land of Judea and Samaria and allow it to become Judenrein or free of all the Jews who live there.  Neither will all the Christian groups who are backing and praying for Israel to have strength of mind and courage of body.  Israel didn't go after Judea and Samaria but received it after being bitterly attacked with a loss of life and blood.  Will Arabs ever learn to stop trying to carry out their goal of driving Jews into the sea if they are rewarded or will they continue to see Israel as weak?  Will they ever see that Israel has reacted magnaminously by having a democratic state with over a million Arabs as citizens?  After all, this was what our Jewish founding fathers saw as the Utopia they were trying to create.
