At Birth, A Peaceful Partitioned "Palestine" Died

Who was studying the Arab-Jewish problem in 1947?  Why of course, UNSCOP, United Nations Special committee on Palestine.  This group left for "Palestine" in June, 1947 to make a new study of the problem and after "endless wrangling, finally ironed out differences with the help of the British.

They forcibly prevented the refugee ship "Exodus" from allowing their load of Jewish passengers to disembark in "Palestine." They recommended on September 3, 1947, that the British  Mandate, which had begun in 1919 after the Turkish Ottoman Empire, which had been defeated in WWI and  lost control of the Arab world, be terminated and that "Palestine" be partitioned into sovereign Arab and Jewish states.  

Soon a White House aide, David K. Niles, telephoned Jewish officials and asked them to come quickly to his office.  He announced happily that the President, Harry S. Truman, accepts the partition plan.  Now there will finally be a Jewish state!

The Jews tried to win over the Arabs to the partition but all efforts to meet with them failed.  Finally Jon Kimche, a British journalist made a break-through and telephoned David Horowitz of the Jewish Agency asking him if he'd like to meet with Abdul Rahman Azzam Pasha.  He was an Egyptian and secretary-general of the Arab League, one of the most influential Arab leaders.  He had agreed to an interview.  Abba Eban of the Jewish Agency joined them.

This tall lean-faced Arab diplomat met them in the Savoy Hotel.  Pasha was taking a political risk as the atmosphere was explosive.  After a statement was heard asking about working together, Pasha responded: "The Arab world is not in a compromising mood.  It's likely, Mr. Horowitz, that your plan is rational and logical, but the fate of nations is not decided by rational logic.  Nations never concede;  they fight.  You won't get anything by peaceful means or compromise.  You can, perhaps, get something, but only by force of arms.  We shall try to defeat you.  I'm not sure we'll succeed, but we'll try.  We were able to drive out the Crusaders, but on the other hand we lost Spain and Persia.  It may be that we shall lose "Palestine."  But it's too late to talk of peaceful solutions."  ...." We have only one test, the test of strength..."

 This man had no hatred in his voice and continually called Jews as "cousins."  He was not using any hostile expression about the Jews.

The Jews had just viewed the terrifying character of the majority Arab position, a position founded unashamedly not on logic, not even the logic of rancor, but on a blind fatalism.  We are still facing this same position today,  65 years later.  Logic is not sitting in on any of the conversations.

Abbas will be asking that "Palestine" be a part of the United Nations any day now by asking for an upgraded status.  Then he plans to sue Israel for "crimes."  This two-faced man had put on an act when on Israeli TV talking about restarting peace negotiations.  The only hitch is that "Abbas urged Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to return to the negotiating table. His only condition was that Netanyahu declare his agreement to a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, he said."  We have waited 65 years for a representative of the Arabs sit down and discuss peace terms with us.  Is it possible?  Really?  After all, they only respect force, not logic.  And still the Arabs are vying for power, setting the parameters of this first meeting  which Netanyahu can not agree to.  We're back to the same old--same old.

How Israel Fared Through Foreign Affairs Debate

Mitt Romney stated that if Israel is attacked and he is president, we have their back.  Obama said that he would stand with Israel if Israel is attacked.

Both of these brilliant men come from completely different backgrounds but are both Harvard educated.  .  Romney was a governor of Massachusetts while President Obama was a community organizer  and Illinois Senator.

Only in America would two such diverse men be running not only for president but against each other.  Romney is an active Mormon, having been a Bishop in his church who lived in France while doing his 2 year mission. His church has a book called "The Book to the Jews" which I have read.  Yes, they do try to convert Jews, but not overtly so.    They also have a lovely park in Israel.  Obama attended Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 some years  that was actively against Jews but since being President has stopped attending there.  Deborah Wasserman, Jewish from Florida thinks that Obama has done a great deal more for Israel than other past presidents.  I might add that our Congress has been behind Israel and is very supportive.  That also must have a great deal to do with support for Israel.

Willard Mitt Romney was born March 12, 1947 in Michigan. He had a father who had been in politics.   He is a self made millionaire worth  an estimated  $190-250 million dollars. He attended Stanford in 65-66 and then Brigham Young (BYU).   He holds a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration; a 4 year program between Harvard U Law and Business School and graduated at the top 5% of the business school.  In other words, he is a lawyer knowing all about business needs.  He served as governor of Massachusetts from 2002 to 2006.  He was head of the Winter Olympics from 1999.  The Olympics was held in 2002.  He did an outstanding job and is very proud of this achievement.

Barack Hussein Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Hawaii, so he's 14 years younger than Mitt.  His parents met in a Russian language class there.  His father was the first African foreign student to attend the university.  His mother was from Kansas and the family had moved to Hawaii.  Their marriage broke up quickly and his mother remarried an Indonesian student which resulted in their moving to Indonesia.  Obama attended school in Jakarta from the1st through 3rd grades in a Catholic school while the 4th grade of 1970-71 was spent in a public school.  He graduated from Columbia U.  Then he also attended Harvard and received an AB in political science which was his major and minored in international relations for four years.  He attended Harvard Law School and received a JD and graduated magna cum laude.  He was also President of the Harvard Law Review.  He became a Chicago community organizer in 1985 when hired by Jerry Kellerman though he had no experience with it. He later  became a senator from January 4, 2005 to November 16, 2008 when elected as president.  His keynote address speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention had electrified the audience.

This 3rd debate lasted for about 90 minutes.  Obama started off attacking strongly. "I know you haven't been in a position to actually execute foreign policy, but every time you've offered an opinion, you've been wrong." he flung at Romney.  Obama pushes that he's the leader who ends wars, not the guy who starts new ones.  Yet he chided Romney over Afghanistan and getting Osama bin Laden.  Obama brought up the statement of Romney who said that it wasn't worth moving heaven and earth to catch one man and that we should have asked Pakistan for permission.  Romney had said that "we can't kill our way out of this mess. and that we must have a comprehensive and robust strategy."  Obama said that "if we had asked Pakistan for permission, we would not have gotten him, and it was worth moving heaven and earth to get him".   I note in the paper today that we have lost 2,012 men since 2001 in the war there.  3,000 people were killed when we were attacked September 11, 2001 when the Twin Towers fell in New York.  We also lost lots of firemen who were trying to save people there.  President Bush was shook.  So were all the people of the United States.

Both men want to help Syria get rid of Assad but don't want to get involved militarily.  Romney mentioned he would arm Assad's opponents.  I would only arm them with sling shots.  Really.  Chances are the arms would later be used against Israel.  The Muslim Brotherhood is actively courting the rebels as well, which I've already written about.  They have organized and meet in Turkey.  Romney didn't seem to be aware of this.  Obama only had a slight degree of knowledge about it.

You know that you and your neighbor both agree that your sofa is not in the right spot to view the TV set, but you each have different opinions as to where to place the sofa, like if it should be against the left or the right wall.  That's the way this debate was.  Romney agreed with much of what has been going on in foreign relations but would have done it a little differently or sooner.  When he did attack Obama, he threw him a zinger that should have stung, like him visiting the Arab states in one grand tour but skipping Israel which was really like a slap in the face to Israel and a ha ha-he doesn't like Israel to the Arabs.

Obama came on very strong again when Romney said that while a governor, high school students who graduated at the top quarter got a 4 year tuition free scholarship at any public institution of higher learning (state college)  in Massachusetts.  Obama loudly proclaimed in Romney's face that it happened before he had come into office.  Romney was very calm, stating that it was actually him.  "Actually, Mr. President.  You got that fact wrong."  Obama blustered loudly again and the discussion went on to another subject, but Romney was right.  The John and Abigail Adams scholarship program began in 2004 when he was governor!

So now we have to vote by November 6th.  Who is the best for the United States?  What are the main problems we are facing?  Economic problems seem to be the main focus from what I've heard.  2nd are health and last are foreign relations.  From what was said after the debate, people feel that if we had a more stable and secure economy, we could better handle world affairs.  Get you flu shots and stay warm and dry. Eat your veggies and fruit, but buy organic apples if you don't want to ingest pesticides.  I'm voting for Romney!

2012 Getting Closer

I watched a program on the History Channel about the Mayan Calendar. There was certainly more to its creation and science than I had ever figured. The date December 21, 2012 is the last day on it and not because they just ran out of paper. There's a lot that they were considering that I have never known about. I'm still in awe over the astronomy that they understood. They were a primitive people and yet knew so much about the heavens. They had cycles of 400 years, and they had five calendars going at one time. It's very deep. I think it's all in the realm of a graduate degree.

Now we have one big scary thing happening in our world. We have Iran, run by meshugana religious Imans and one very crazy leader who want to put an end to Israel and they have atomic power. Whether they are ready to send atomic rockets to Israel at this moment is debatable, but it's getting very close. It could happen this year or as late as 2012. They're just crazy enough to do it. Israel had to step in once before and bomb a weapons depot in Iraq and were successful. This time, I think it would be much more difficult, and the USA would be against it, of course. So this is something in our reality that is not good.

We have Bin Laden who said, "Americans love life, that is their weakness." I also say that Jews love life and we say L'Chaim in our toasts all the time. But, Bin Laden continues to say, "We love death, that is our strength. " He said this on tape on the Arabic network Al-Jazeera recorded before 9/11 most likely. They look forward to all those 70 virgins they will have when deceased and that is more important to them than life here, it seems. They are the opposite of Jews. It's pretty amazing to me since we both believe in one G-d. For monotheists, the message certainly is not the same, even though they copied so much of our religion in certain ways. They just didn't get the same message. I think this is all why the Mayan Calendar and the Bible Code have something working for them. At this point in time, these things are possible.
                                                                         

Reading the Bible Code-computer printout

In Israel we have a mathematician, Dr. Eliyahu Rips, an expert in group theory, a field of mathematics that underlies quantum physics. He has discovered "The Bible Code". This is a code from our 5 books of Moses where he has put the Hebrew letters through the computer and in various ways has found codes that tell what has happened in the past. He has found the "Kennedy assassinations, the Oklahoma city bombing, the election of Bill Clinton, everything from WWII to Watergate, from the Holocaust to Hiroshima, from the Moon landing to the collision of a comet with Jupiter."

A few predictions were found; "the date the Gulf War would begin-and they found it weeks before it started. The date of the Jupiter collision was found months before the blast. " Michael Drosnin found the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin more than a year before the murder and personally warned the Prime Minister, but he didn't take it seriously, so it happened.

Relying on my memory, I believe he is also saying that something is going to happen in 2012. I have it in my mind that this is not a year I want to travel.

In the 2nd book, he wrote a quote from Einstein. "The distinction between past, present and future is only an illusion, however persistent. He wrote this on March 21, 1955 in a letter he wrote to the widow of a fellow physicist and friend, Michele Besso.

Stephen Hawking is my favorite physicist. Michael quotes him, also. He's just amazing. He stated that "time travel might be within our capabilities in his introduction to "The Physics of Star Trek". He also says this in his book "A Brief History of Time". He had said that any advanced form of space travel would require faster than light travel, which means going back in time. This makes me wonder that the UFO's that have reported are doing just that. That's another thing. UFO's were also a special on TV and many important people in our armed forces are now speaking up. You can be a doubter, but there is a lot of evidence that this is a real occurrence. My father couldn't convince me at age 13 of the future television that was coming. I thought he was out of his mind-a box that would have pictures on it like a movie theater? With my lack of experience, I couldn't conceive it. Look what our scientists are able to do and understand now. Nothing is impossible.

To make matters more serious, when I lived in Israel from 1980 to 1985, I came to know and listen to my friends who were orthodox Jews and I found out that they expect the Messiah soon, just as the Christians do. So this all points to something happening. These are awesome times that we are living in.

I think my New Year's resolution is to appreciate and enjoy every peaceful day. I hope others can do the same no matter where they are living.

P.S. 1/8/10 In the Jewish calendar, this is the year 5770. I believe the Messiah is to come in the year 6,000. That gives us another 230 years. It's close but we have breathing room to improve our ways.
