What haplogroup Do Pashtuns Be?

Nadene Goldfoot

Pashtuns have the oral history of being Beni Israel, sons of Israel.  Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan, accounting for about 42 percent of the population,

I see that the company, FAMILY TREE DNA has 219 members of Afghan Pakistani DNA, now.  This is good.  They say, "Please visit our blogsite at www.dna-afghan-pak.blogspot.com and our Facebook Page, where members share their research and opinions on issues."

Male Y haplogroups of Pashtuns

C3-M217, Afghanistan's ethnic group, found in East Asia 2.04% in Pashtuns, In ***** 3 people carried this in the sample, 1 found in FTDNA's testing, Originated in southern Asia, found with highest diversity in India.

E,  In *****1 person carried this in the sample.  Originated in Africa some 50,000 years ago, common ancestry with D.  Found in Middle East.

F, In ***** 1 person carried this in the sample first in Africa some 45,000 years ago, 2nd wave of expansion out of Africa, ancestor of the Y chromosome haplogroups, oldest one.

*G2b-M377, part of G2 is found in some Pashtuns who are Iranic and on a much lower scale among all major Jewish groups, Palestinians, Lebanese and Syrians.  Up to the time of WW2, it was most common in Eastern Europe.  Distribution of G2b is sparse, unique.  The extreme rarity of G2b in northern Pakistan might mean it originated outside the country, brought there a historic period from further wet.  Pakistan was part of the Achaemenid Persian Empire conquered by Alexander the Great, then part of the Greco-Bactrian kingdom.  These 2 Pakistani G2b haplotypes are divergent from the Ashkenazi Jewish clade, do not indicate a recent common origin.  Turkish G2b is closer but not the same.  With Jews in Israel from many places, G2b was 3.7% of population in one study.  Afghanistan study of 5 Pashtuns in Wrdak region, 60% of sample, maybe due to local founder effect. Possible it started about 1,000 CE in NE West Asia from G2 (P287), highest frequency in Pashtuns, Sephardic Jews, Ashkenazi Jews, Mizrahi Jews, Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, SW Syria.  In ***** 12 people carried this in the sample.    4 found in FTDNA's testing  May have originated along the eastern edge of the Middle East or in India or Pakistan 30000 years ago .  G2 branch of this lineage containing the P15 mutation is found most often in the Caucasus, Balkans, Italy and Middle East.  7% of Ashkenazi Jews have this.

H-M69, found in India' Pashtuns 20.41%, In ***** 4 people carried this in the sample. 6 found in FTDNA's testing, arose 20,000 to 30,000 years ago and almost entirely restricted to India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan where it probably originated.

J1,  In ***** 3 people carried this in the sample.  3 found in FTDNA's study, 10,000 to 15,000 years ago in Fertile Crescent includes Jews, Arab, Armenians, Kurds, highest in Iran and Iraq, carried by traders to central Asia, India and Pakistan.  While the majority of J is not Jewish, the majority of Jewish men are J's.  The Cohen Modal Haplotype is found in haplogroup J1.

J2-M172, Afghanistan's ethnic group, In ***** 7 people carried this in the sample.  Found in Central Asia, Mediterranean and south into India.   11 found in FTDNA's testing. connected to the spread of agriculture during Neolithic Period from Anatolia, found in central Asia, Mediterranean, south into India. Many Jews carry this, also.

*L-M20, Afghanistan's ethnic group, also in India at 20.41%, In ***** 8 people carried Lin the sample.  6 found in FTDNA's testing
  L1a, 2 found in FTDNA's testing
  L1b, 1 found in FTDNA's testing

L1c,  Known Pashtuns, 6 found in FTDNA's testing; L is common in India, likely originated here 30,000 years ago.

P,   In ***** 1 person carried this in the sample, originated in Eurasia 35,000 to 45,000 years ago, in Europe, all indigenous people of the Americas.

Q, 1.3% finding 2 people.   In ***** 1 person carried this in the sample.in southern Afghanistan.
Q is found in 5% of the male Jewish Ashkenazi population.  13 found in FTDNA's testing. , originated 15,000 to 20,000 years ago migrated through northern Eurasia into Americas, lately found in Ur, Iraq where Abraham lived. My Jewish father's line is Q, and at 111 allele testing is QBZ67

*R1a1a-M17, Afghanistan's ethnic group, found in Eurasia, 51.02% in Pashtuns, in *****97 people carried this in the sample.  ( Overall, only haplogroups R1a1a*-M198 (62.1%), L3*-M357 (7.4%) and G2c-M377 (5.3%) display frequencies >5% and collectively comprise nearly three-fourths of the Afghanistan paternal gene pool in one study ). 18 found in FTDNA's study, 8 from India, Bangladesh, 9 known Pashtuns, Believed to have originated in NW Asia between 30,000 to 35,000 years ago. This is the line that so many Jewish Levites carry as their Y haplogroup that I've been writing about (12/22/2021).
R-M512 , 9 Pashtuns of Afghanistan, Pakistan

R1b1b2, In *****, 1 person was found in the sample.  3 from Pakistan in FTDNA's study

R2a-M124, found in India's Pashtuns 20.41%, In ***** 5 people carried this in the sample, 5 from FTDNA's testing , Much rarer than R1, found only in Indian, Iranian and central Asian populations.

Undecided 31 people as yet not classified in a group on FTDNA's testing

Genotyping revealed 32 haplogroups present in Afghanistan's ethnic groups among our samples. Haplogroups R1a1a-M17, C3-M217, J2-M172, and L-M20 were the most frequent when Afghan ethnic groups were pooled, together comprising >66% of the chromosomes.

Iran Hit with 7.8 Earthquake; 2nd In A Week

Nadene Goldfoot

Many of us are most concerned about Iran having nuclear facilities.  The people of Iran should be also, since Iran is a vast earthquake zone. Hold on!  "Iran  is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, being crossed by several major fault lines that cover at least 90% of the country."

They were just hit with their 2nd earthquake since their first on April 9th which was a 6.3 near the Bushehr nuclear power station. In that one, 37 people were killed and 850 were injured.  That makes 2 big earthquakes in one week!  Since June 22, 2002 they have had 13 earthquakes counting this past week's two.  All but 2 have been 6.0 or more.  Those 2 were a 5.3 and a 5.9, nothing to sneeze at in such an unstable area.

This time, they were hit with a 7.8. at 10:44 GMT and  went down 51 miles in depth.   They say their nuclear sites, built by Russia, can with stand an 8.0 or better.

7.8 is a powerful earthquake.  The epicenter was the border area of SE Iran between them and Pakistan.  13 people were killed and 20 injured in Pakistan on Tuesday. A few hundred homes collapsed in Mashkeel, Pakistan.  Homes  are made of mud  in Panjgur, Pakistan.  Hundreds of homes and building in New Delhi, India and the Gulf Arab states were destroyed from it.  People got out of their building in Qatar and Dubai.   This was far from Iran's nuclear facilities, but had to have been felt and affected if the range is this far.   The distance between New Delhi, India to Iran is 758 miles or 1,219.62 kilometers.

Luckily the area is not like New York.  The land is a sparsely populated desert and mountain region.  They have not had any communications, so haven't heard about any deaths yet.  Iran has a population of 76,923,300.

Iran's nuclear facilities are centered in central Iran or the west side.  This includes Bushehr, the nuclear power plant on the Gulf coast.  They say they have good safety standards.  We have our doubts.  The IAEA say that they have been informed that there was no damage to any of the facilities.    It just happens that they sit on a fault line.  They had a 6.6 quake in 2003 that flattened Bam, a city in the SE and 25,000 were killed in that one.

I seem to remember Iran stating that they did not want Israel to ever come to their aid in such an earthquake catastrophe.  The distance to Jerusalem from Iran is about 970 miles or 1,555.92 km.  This is the first time that Iran has suffered from 2 earthquakes in one week.  Their history since  2002 is that they have had one or two per year; 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, two in 2010, 2011, 2012, and the two this week.

Jerusalem and the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel

Nadene Goldfoot
Jerusalem "Yerushalayim." was and is the capital of Israel.  It's located in the center of the Judean Mountains.  It is sometimes called "Zion," which was the name of King David's fortress.  It was also known as the City of David (1000-960 BCE)  .  Poetic names are city of righteousness,   faithful city, city of G-d, the holy city, and city of truth. King David was a warrior.  His son, King Solomon brought in the religious aspects of Judaism by building the Temple.  This city was and still is the most important religious city to the Jewish people.  Jews pray in the direction of Jerusalem.  We are told not to ever forget this city on the threat of losing the use of our right hand.  We are back.

Jerusalem was taken by the pagan Romans in 70CE.  From then on many countries have tried to take it since Christianity placed Jesus in Jerusalem and the area.  In 1099 it was stormed by the Crusaders under Godfrey of Bouillon.  They made it the capital of the Latin Kingdom.  Then in 1187 Saladin, the Ayyabid sultan retook the city for Islam.  Under the Ottoman Empire it decayed. In 1492 Jews were forced out of Spain and many removed to Jerusalem, but their numbers were restricted by the Muslim government.     By the 18th century the population of Jews and Muslims was under 10,000 with most of the city lying in ruins.  The 19th century brought the Aliyote of Russian Jews who had bought land and started building.  By 1838 there were 50,000 Jews from many countries with the population of 68,000.  They were able to bring about a railway line to connect the city with Jaffa by the 1880's.  In 1898 the German Emperor William II visited Jerusalem.  He met with Theodore Herzl who represented the Zionist Organization.

World War I came along in 1914 and the population fell to 50,000.  December 1917 found the city occupied by General Allenby of the British Army.  British were given the Mandate to rule the land. that had been under the Ottoman Empire called Palestine, named by the previous Romans.  Jewish immigration in 1946 caused the population to reach 165,000 of which 100,000 were Jews.  Fighting broke out between Muslims and Jews.  The Arab Legion shelled and starved the Jews living in Jerusalem but the Jews didn't surrender to them.   May 15, 1948 saw the re-birth and establishment of Israel once more.  By 1949 the government and Knesset were transferred to Jerusalem.  I note that King David and King Solomon's Israel was far larger than today's extremely small Israel.

East Jerusalem held the homes of Muslims.  The city was divided into 2 parts from 1948 till 1967.  East Jerusalem had been under Jordanian domination.  June 5, 1967 was the start of the Six Day War when all the neighboring Arab states attacked Israel and lost.  Jordan had bombarded the city. The whole city came under Israeli control.  The first thing Jews did was go to the Western Wall and pray.  They had been kept from this most important site by the Muslims for almost 20 years.

On June 29, 1967, Israel formally united the 2 parts of the city and barriers that had divided them were taken away.  The Eastern part of the city had 139,600 Muslims and Christians and were united with the rest so that the total population in 1990 was 493,500, which is the same population as Portland, Oregon..  The Jerusalem Law of 1980 extended Israeli sovereignty over the whole city.  This brought many updates to the Arab section.

Israel has 1.4 million Arab citizens today.  There are plenty of mosques throughout the state.  In Jerusalem, starting on November 8th of this year at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music is a month long "Nights of Tarab" celebration as part of an Arab Jerusalem Festival.  I have one of Edward Said's books.  He was a Muslim fighter against Israel.  Here we see the only Democratic country in the Middle East truly practicing democracy.  I hope the Muslims appreciate the state they live in safely.  While the Muslim Gazan terrorists  are shelling southern Israel's Jewish communities, there are Muslims that are enjoying  living in Jerusalem.

The fight continues with Muslims from many countries threatening to take Jerusalem, Iran and her neighbors being among them.

From the time of King David who died in 960 BCE to losing 10 of the 12 tribes of Jacob to the Assyrians from 721-715 BCE, we see that 239 years after King David died, we lost our 10 tribes, taken from us by force. which means the children of Zilpah and Bilhah the handmaidens, and Jacob's 2nd wife, Rachel.  Leah, the first wife of Jacob and sister of Rachel  was the mother of 6 tribes.  Out of those, only Judah and Levi remained.  Reuben, Simeon, Issachar and Zebulun were most likely part of the kidnapped group as well.  Judah was the largest of all the tribes that remained.

We read from the prophecies of Ezekiel,  who lived in the 6th century BCE and probably served in Solomon's Temple before its destruction in 586 BCE what is foretold for the Lost Ten Tribes and the Jews.  .  He was one that was exiled to Tel Abib on the river Kebar in Babylonia where he prophecied for about 22 years from 592-570 BCE.   In   Ezekiel  37:16, our 37th prophet,  which associates the final Redemption with the reunion of the whole House of Israel, I read:  . "Now you, Son of Man, take for yourself one piece of wood and write upon it, "For Judah and for the Children of Israel, his comrades; and take one piece of wood and write upon it, "For Joseph, the wood of Ephraim and all the House of Israel, his comrades.    Then bring them close to yourself, one to the other, like one piece of wood, and they will become united in your hand.  ....Thus said the Lord Hashem/Elohim:  " Behold, I am taking the wood of Joseph which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his comrades, and I am placing them and him together with the wood of Judah;  and I will make them into one piece of wood, and they will become one in My hand."

"Behold, I am taking the Children of Israel from among the nations to which they have gone;  I will gather them from all around and I will bring them to their soil;  I will make them into one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and one king will be  a king for them all;  they will no longer be two nations, and they will no longer be divided into two kingdoms, ever again.  ....I will purify them;  they will be a nation to Me,  and I will be a G-d to them.  My servant David will be king over them, and there will be one shepherd for all of them;  they will follow My ordinances and keep My decrees and fullfill them.  They will dwell on the land that I gave to My servant Jacob, within which your fathers dwelled;  they and their children and their children's children will dwell upon it forever;  and My servant David will be a leader for them forever.  I will seal a covenant of peace with them;  it will be an eternal covenant with them...then the nations will know that I am *Hashem/G-d Who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary will be among them forever.

Jews have been awaiting this time, and so the reports have come in from all over of finding them.  Eldad Ha-Dani reported them in the mountains of Africa.  Benjamin of Tudela heard of them in Central Asia.  David Reuveni claimed to be the brother of one of their rulers in some region of Arabia.  Antonio de Montezinos stimulated Manasseh ben Israel's political activity in  England with reports of finding them in South America.  Japanese and Anglo Saxons were thought to be them.  Finally it was thought that some were still in "Palestine" or assimilated, or absorbed by the last Judean exiles in 597-586 or were deported to an area  earlier such as Media, Assyria and Mesopotamia.  Today we see the Pashtuns of Pakistan and Afghanistan claiming descent of the Lost 10 Tribes.  Being Muslims, they are found to side with Iran in their hatred for Jews but with the desire to take their very teeny country.  What would  Ezekiel say to all this?  How are we ever going to be reunited peacefully?

* Jews do not want to over-use the word "G-d"  so use "HaShem" which means in Hebrew: "the name".  In respect, the orthodox do not even write out the word but use the dash instead of the o.

How Israel Fared Through Foreign Affairs Debate

Nadene Goldfoot
Mitt Romney stated that if Israel is attacked and he is president, we have their back.  Obama said that he would stand with Israel if Israel is attacked.

Both of these brilliant men come from completely different backgrounds but are both Harvard educated.  .  Romney was a governor of Massachusetts while President Obama was a community organizer  and Illinois Senator.

Only in America would two such diverse men be running not only for president but against each other.  Romney is an active Mormon, having been a Bishop in his church who lived in France while doing his 2 year mission. His church has a book called "The Book to the Jews" which I have read.  Yes, they do try to convert Jews, but not overtly so.    They also have a lovely park in Israel.  Obama attended Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 some years  that was actively against Jews but since being President has stopped attending there.  Deborah Wasserman, Jewish from Florida thinks that Obama has done a great deal more for Israel than other past presidents.  I might add that our Congress has been behind Israel and is very supportive.  That also must have a great deal to do with support for Israel.

Willard Mitt Romney was born March 12, 1947 in Michigan. He had a father who had been in politics.   He is a self made millionaire worth  an estimated  $190-250 million dollars. He attended Stanford in 65-66 and then Brigham Young (BYU).   He holds a Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration; a 4 year program between Harvard U Law and Business School and graduated at the top 5% of the business school.  In other words, he is a lawyer knowing all about business needs.  He served as governor of Massachusetts from 2002 to 2006.  He was head of the Winter Olympics from 1999.  The Olympics was held in 2002.  He did an outstanding job and is very proud of this achievement.

Barack Hussein Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Hawaii, so he's 14 years younger than Mitt.  His parents met in a Russian language class there.  His father was the first African foreign student to attend the university.  His mother was from Kansas and the family had moved to Hawaii.  Their marriage broke up quickly and his mother remarried an Indonesian student which resulted in their moving to Indonesia.  Obama attended school in Jakarta from the1st through 3rd grades in a Catholic school while the 4th grade of 1970-71 was spent in a public school.  He graduated from Columbia U.  Then he also attended Harvard and received an AB in political science which was his major and minored in international relations for four years.  He attended Harvard Law School and received a JD and graduated magna cum laude.  He was also President of the Harvard Law Review.  He became a Chicago community organizer in 1985 when hired by Jerry Kellerman though he had no experience with it. He later  became a senator from January 4, 2005 to November 16, 2008 when elected as president.  His keynote address speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention had electrified the audience.

This 3rd debate lasted for about 90 minutes.  Obama started off attacking strongly. "I know you haven't been in a position to actually execute foreign policy, but every time you've offered an opinion, you've been wrong." he flung at Romney.  Obama pushes that he's the leader who ends wars, not the guy who starts new ones.  Yet he chided Romney over Afghanistan and getting Osama bin Laden.  Obama brought up the statement of Romney who said that it wasn't worth moving heaven and earth to catch one man and that we should have asked Pakistan for permission.  Romney had said that "we can't kill our way out of this mess. and that we must have a comprehensive and robust strategy."  Obama said that "if we had asked Pakistan for permission, we would not have gotten him, and it was worth moving heaven and earth to get him".   I note in the paper today that we have lost 2,012 men since 2001 in the war there.  3,000 people were killed when we were attacked September 11, 2001 when the Twin Towers fell in New York.  We also lost lots of firemen who were trying to save people there.  President Bush was shook.  So were all the people of the United States.

Both men want to help Syria get rid of Assad but don't want to get involved militarily.  Romney mentioned he would arm Assad's opponents.  I would only arm them with sling shots.  Really.  Chances are the arms would later be used against Israel.  The Muslim Brotherhood is actively courting the rebels as well, which I've already written about.  They have organized and meet in Turkey.  Romney didn't seem to be aware of this.  Obama only had a slight degree of knowledge about it.

You know that you and your neighbor both agree that your sofa is not in the right spot to view the TV set, but you each have different opinions as to where to place the sofa, like if it should be against the left or the right wall.  That's the way this debate was.  Romney agreed with much of what has been going on in foreign relations but would have done it a little differently or sooner.  When he did attack Obama, he threw him a zinger that should have stung, like him visiting the Arab states in one grand tour but skipping Israel which was really like a slap in the face to Israel and a ha ha-he doesn't like Israel to the Arabs.

Obama came on very strong again when Romney said that while a governor, high school students who graduated at the top quarter got a 4 year tuition free scholarship at any public institution of higher learning (state college)  in Massachusetts.  Obama loudly proclaimed in Romney's face that it happened before he had come into office.  Romney was very calm, stating that it was actually him.  "Actually, Mr. President.  You got that fact wrong."  Obama blustered loudly again and the discussion went on to another subject, but Romney was right.  The John and Abigail Adams scholarship program began in 2004 when he was governor!

So now we have to vote by November 6th.  Who is the best for the United States?  What are the main problems we are facing?  Economic problems seem to be the main focus from what I've heard.  2nd are health and last are foreign relations.  From what was said after the debate, people feel that if we had a more stable and secure economy, we could better handle world affairs.  Get you flu shots and stay warm and dry. Eat your veggies and fruit, but buy organic apples if you don't want to ingest pesticides.  I'm voting for Romney!

Taliban Shoots Girl in Head For Wanting Education

Nadene Goldfoot
The Taliban in Pakistan is against girls getting an education.  Their terror organization may be the cause of Afghanistan's illiteracy rate to be 72% and Pakistan's to be 50%.  Girls are not to be educated according to them in secular schools.  So the result is that girls are not getting much of an education at all. Israel's illiteracy rate is 3% in comparison.

Malala Yousafzai, 14 years old,  was shot in the head and neck on purpose in NW Pakistan's Swat Valley on Tuesday. A few other girls were also injured.  Her father had run one of the last schools to defy Taliban orders to end female education.  In 2009 she documented her determination to continue school. When only 11 years old, she wrote an anonymous blog documenting her experiences for the British Broadcasting Corp.  She was on TV and became the voice for the rights of children in the area.

She was in Mingora on a bus full of schoolgirls who had just taken an exam.  This young lady had won a national peace prize last year.   To the Taliban she had become a symbol of Western culture.  They saw her behavior as obscene.  They say they will try to assassinate her again.

Girls' education in Pakistan is something banning people against the Taliban who are against it.  Militants have shut down schools in recent years to be defiant.  "Come on, brothers, be REAL MEN, Kill a school girl." Nadeem F. Paracha said through twitter.

It's backfiring.  The Pakistanis are outraged with the Taliban's actions.  She's now an icon of courage and hope.  Private schools were closed to protest against the Taliban's actions.  Everyone in Pakistan is condemning the Taliban's action.  The Taliban retorted with "We are dead against co-education and secular education."  They are so uncivilized that this is how they decide matters; shoot the child who spoke for it in the head!  Every other culture and country have discussed these very matters about education and come to conclusions they can live with.  They ended with "Whom so ever will do the same in the future as Malala will again be targeted by the Pakistani Taliban."

Pashtuns of Afghanistan and Pakistan-The Lost Israeli Tribes

Nadene Goldfoot
Pakistan is made up of 172,800,000 people who are 97% Muslim of Sunni as the main sect with Shi'a and the main fiqh (Islamic law (fiqh) or how they follow the laws of Sharia being Hanafi.    Pakistan is an Islamic state.

Afghanistan has a smaller population of 28,395, 716 who are 99% Muslim with the same makeup but including the Jafari fiqh as well.  This is as of wikipedia's 2011 information.

The Pashtun Tribe found in Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of India claim to be of the Lost Tribes of Israel.  It is said that the exile was caused by the Assyrians in 732 BCE.    It was first thought that they were either killed or assimilated into the Assyrian populace.  Evidence is very powerful through cultural behaviors and found parchments saying that the Pashtuns could be them, coming mainly from the tribe of Ephraim..    Pashtuns are the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan and the second largest ethnic group in Pakistan.  There are over 40 million in the world with over 10 million in Afghanistan, and over 30 million in Pakistan.

"There are also discussions in the Talmud as to whether the Ten Lost Tribes will eventually be reunited with the Tribe of Judah, that is, with the Jewish people."

One of many interesting writers on the subject is Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who is not considered a Muslim , nor is his so called sect a Muslim, but is said to be the  founder of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community,  who wrote a book named Jesus in India where he argued that Afghans, Pashtuns and Pathans are descendants from the Tribes of Israel.  Another is Issachar Katzir, Afghanistan Jew living now in Israel who wrote the book, "Lost Tribes from Assyria" by A. Avihail and A. Brin, 1978, in Hebrew.  "This is an introduction to the world of the ' lost tribes' of those Jews who were taken into exile at the fall of the First Temple. Rabbi Avichail is the world's foremost expert on the whole subject of crypto- Jews and has traveled throughout the world seeking to identify such communities"  It's a very expensive book to buy.  Hopefully one day it will come out in English.

Evidently Jewish children of Afghanistani parents heard the stories about the 10 Tribes that were lost who still "kept Jewish customs and names,  who had preserved their forefathers' tradition, bearing arms and awaiting the day of redemption. "  The Pathans lived on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and called themselves the sons of Israel, even though they live as Muslims and are known for their physical strength.  They are tall, light-coloured and handsome, good soldiers, diligent, intelligent and are known as wonderful hosts.  Two million of them even live as beduins.  They look very much like the Jews.

One misconception people may have about the people of Afghanistan is that all the men belong to the Taliban terrorists.  This was not true in 2010 as one of the largest Pashun tribes, the Shinwari with 400,000 people  had declared war on the Taliban citing that they were robbing them and taking their sons to fight.  Their tribe is as large as our city of Portland, Oregon.

Update 7/26/15  The Taliban have killed 35,000 Pashtuns who are fighting against them.  (Resource-Pashtun contact in Pakistan).

Why Hamas-Fatah Don't Want Their Own State

Nadene Goldfoot
It's quite obvious why the Arab Palestinians haven't established their own state for the past 64 years.  They were given the same opportunity that Israel had at the very same time by the United Nations,  only refused it because they had empirical  goals.  Their goal was to have all the land and they would not allow Jews to have an island in their midst.  They were conditioned to the "Ottoman Empire" thinking. So for those leaders, they wanted it all and would only settle for all or nothing, which meant fighting for it all. A few Arabs would have had to live under a Jewish government in the way it was divided.  That wouldn't have been so bad considering that today 1.4 million Arabs are citizens of Israel living a much better life than any other Muslims in any other Muslim majority countries.

Nearly 80% of what had been promised to the Jews for a Jewish National Home was severed by the British in 1922 and turned into what became Transjordan with Jewish settlement there barred.  The UN divided the remaining 20% of Palestine into the 2 states; one for Jews and one for the Arabs.  This means that Arabs got 80% of the territory of the Mandate as it was while Israel held a bare 17.5%.  Gaza was still being occupied by Egypt.  What Israel wound up with was a small sliver of their own pie. Jordan then annexed East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1950 but lost it again to Israel in the 1967 War against Israel.  It was land promised to be part of  the Jewish Homeland in the original deal!  Jordan's eyes were bigger than their ability to wipe out Israel, even with all their Muslim neighbors.

At the time of the 1947 partition resolution, the Arabs did not have the majority population in the area allotted to the Jews or in Jerusalem.  They were even offered a bigger share of land and had the population there already.

The British restricted the Jewish immigration while Arabs were free to come into the land which they did, taking advantage of the rapid development stimulated by the Zionists in creating towns to live in.  They came in by the thousands.

Prior to the British Mandate in 1922, the Palestine Arab population had been declining.  Afterwards, Arabs began to come there from all the surrounding countries.  The Arab population grew along with the Jewish settlers who improved the quality of health conditions in Palestine.

Partitioning Palestine was based on the irreconcilable territorial claims of Jews and Arabs so a compromise had to be taken to create two states.  1947 was when the Arab members of the United Nations supported the partition of the India and the creation of the new state, predominantly Muslin, of Pakistan. That came about because Muslims and Hindus were attacking each other in India all the time.   This way they moved the Muslims out into their own space.   Palestine was a different matter in allowing a Jewish state of Israel within their Muslim midst.  Hindus have given up a piece of their land for the Muslims in order to have peace..

Fatah and Hamas have never considered their people in their decision not to accept the many times offered chance to create their own state, but are led by the Muslim Brotherhood goals of creating an empire again.  All they have had to do is to recognize Israel as their neighbor with rights of being Jewish.  Then they would have to tell their people to stop hating and shooting at this only Jewish state in the world and that the plan on the table is for peace instead of driving the Israelis into the sea.

It's time to realize that after 64 years, the Arabs are not up to creating their own state at all. The attack on Israel has not been stopping.  There is no reason to think that Judea and Samaria (West Bank) will be a Palestine State with the goals they presently hold.  When they discard the Muslim Brotherhood, that will tell us that they want to live in the present instead of their 15th century empire of the past.  The 3 generations of Arabs living in Gaza and Judea and Samaria need to have their own type of Arab Spring and throw out these Muslim Brotherhood terrorists of Hamas, and even of Fatah since they've turned toward the Hamas line and start from scratch.

Israel, That Little Devil and Pakistan, Born At the Same Time

Nadene Goldfoot
The world has a population of 6.7 billion people.  Jews make up only 0.2% of that population.  We live mostly either in Israel or the USA with a few sprinkled through the some of the other countries like Germany,  England and South Africa.

The size of Israel is about the same as New Jersey.  It would take 8 Israel's to be the same size as Florida.  Israel's pre 1967 borders is only 8,019 square miles or 20,770 sq km.  The population of Israel is 7,116,200 with 5,393,600 being Jews or about  75% of the population. 25% of the population is made up of Arab citizens who are Muslims and Christians.   It was pronounced a state on May 14, 1948 through the UN with the United States being the first with Harry Truman to recognize it.  It is the world's only Jewish state.  It is still in a state of war with the Palestinians outside of Israel, those living in Gaza who are ruled by Hamas and now those living in Judea and Samaria who have been under the PA (Palestinian Authority in which Fatah, and therefore, Abbas has been at the helm.)  The situation now is that Fatah and Hamas have teemed up together again in their continual attacks against Israel.  George Bush has said that Israel is about the size of a Texas ranch.

The year before, on August 14-15 1947, Pakistan was created for Muslims living in India who were having a rough time of it in a Hindu majority country.  Families were facing terrorist attacks on their homes.    Pakistan is two times the size of California, being 310,403 sq miles or 803,940 sq km.in size.  Their population is 173,593,383 as of 2011.  It is the world's 6th most populous country.  Consider that California's population is 37,691,912.  97% of Pakistan are Muslims with the majority being Sunni.  It is an Islamic state.    It was not an easy partition, causing a mutual hostility and suspicion between the two countries.  However, it put an end to the terrorist attacks on each other.  Pakistan now has the 2nd highest Muslim population out of all 48 Muslim majority countries.  Indonesia ranks #1.  India is left with a population amounting to 1,170,938,000 as of 2010.  As of 2011, the USA population was 311,591,917.  There certainly are a lot of people in the world that are living fairly peaceful-like.  It isn't happening in the Middle East, however.

Israel is not out of step in this world's order of things to have declared itself a Jewish state.  The only thing unusual is that it is a first again, so stands alone in doing so.  It also is doing so in a sea of Islam belief who just so happen to not abide Judaism today.  There was a day when they were more tolerant, when Jews were living in the Middle Eastern countries under Muslim rule.  There, though they were considered to be 3rd class citizens which the word dhminnis tells us, they were tolerated.  There were even times when the Ottoman Empire had asked some to return as they were needed in their financial crisis.  This was at a time when Europe was terribly intolerant of someone different than they, especially since they were of a different religion, the one espoused in their New Testament to be vile, and suffered from pogroms and anti-Semitism of all sorts of indecencies.

Can this little state find happiness and security finally in today's world after wanting to come home?  That is all it is trying to do.We're almost like the swallows who keep coming back to Capistrano, but the difference is that we've always maintained a Jewish population in the land of Palestine, which it became sometime after 70 CE through the Romans.    I think our leader has been the traditional Dove of Peace but he's limping on one leg,  now.     Iran calls the United States the big Devil and Israel the little Devil.  Iran's leadership is  intolerant.  It's even possible that old Ahmadinejad himself  has some Jewish genes, being Jews lived in Persia for a long time.  Netanyahu is again asking leadership of the Palestinians to reconsider and live with them as neighbors in peace, not like the Hatfields and the McCoys. Israel has been asking this since 1948.  It's getting old.   It may take the pressure of the Palestinian people themselves to bring about this peace, if they truly are for it.    Instead of letting us see their rejoicing over a terrorist's acts and kills, they're going to have to see their neighbors as human beings, too.

What's the Worst Danger For Israel?

Nadene Goldfoot
There are many dangers surrounding Israel. It's almost hard to pick the worst one. The biggest for Defense Minister Ehud Barak is that old ancient kingdom, Persia, which today is called Iran. It is the biggest because they are able to manipulate the system and are about to obtain nuclear weapons. Of course, who else would they use such weapons on? They've threatened Israel so many times already.

The USA is also in harm's way. Iran is getting away with disobeying the Security Council decisions and directives from the International Atomic Energy Agency. As they see they can get away with moving toward military nukes, they will just keep on going. North Korea and Pakistan have nuclear weapons now, even though they had tough sanctions. Where's the reason to stop Iran from doing so?

Israel can't afford a lot of time for the world to decide to act and prevent Iran from reaching this destructive goal. The longer they wait, Iran will have the time to  finish the job. Israel would like to see world cooperation in working on a solution and they feel all options are on the table. Israel and Egypt have had good relations ever since Sadat came to Israel and made peace. Mubarak was able to continue that relationship. Now that the Muslim Brotherhood is stepping into power, that peace is on the line. They have just had a commercial dispute over their gas supply agreement with Israel. Usually, trade or business between two countries can keep them on a peaceful relationship. I hate to see this happen.

Have Jews Lived in Pakistan?

Nadene Goldfoot
In the days of Alexander the Great, the Greeks camped out in Sindh, near today's city of Karachi, and prepared their fleet for Babylonia.

Pakistan was created from the fighting between Muslims and Hindus in India.  A lot of Muslims finally moved out into their own state called Pakistan.

Pakistan had been created out of the East and West portions of British India and was established 14 August 1947.  By 1956 they declared it an Islamic Republic and was ruled from 1972-1977 by Zulfikar Bhutto.  In 2008 Asif ali Zardari became President.  He was the husband of Benazir Bhutto, who had been Prime Minister two times previously  Zardari took over from  Pervez Musharraf.  Pervez Musharraf, born 1943 was chief of the army and took power ousting PM Nawaz Sharif and took over.  He promised democracy, law and order.  Ten years later he had to resign. Now he lives in London,  but had allied Pakistan with the USA and was against the Taliban after our 9/11 attack in New York.

He has been planning to establish ties with Israel, and has even wanted to be the mediator between the Palestinians and Israelis. The problem is that the Pakistanis are on the side of the Palestinians, being both are Muslims. However, he says he now realizes that Israel is a fait accompli and he is a realist. He sees a benefit for Pakistan from a good relationship.

Pakistan has the 2nd highest Muslim population in the world with 172,800,000 of which 97% are Muslims that are Sunni/Shi'a.  It is an Islamic state.  Even so, in 1947 there were about 1,500 Jews living there that were tradesmen, artisans, poets, philosophers and civil servants.  Many moved to Israel after May 1948 as there has always been anti-semitism in the land, but then it became anti-Israel quickly.

In 1881 there were 153 Jews living in the Sindh province, and by the early 1900's there were 1,000 living in Karachi.  In 1919 there were 650.  Peshanoar was home to a smaller group.  Most were Baghdadi Jews.  Bukhareans and Mizrahi Jews were from Central Asia, Iran and Afghanistan.  Bene Israel Jews were from India and lived in Karachi.  I had met some of these Bene Israel Jews in Israel, and the gal I had met was absolutely beautiful.

Karachi was the capital from 1947 to about 1958, but then with the influx of Indian Muslims, Islamabad was chosen.

The reasoning to get closer to Israel for one is the connection Israel has with India.  They are friendly.  He feels that Israel influences many against Pakistan.  In the meantime, Taliban terrorists executed 15 security soldiers by shooting that had been kidnapped and dumped on a hilltop in NW Pakistan on Thursday.  This was a retaliation killing of a militant commander by government forces.  They did that after promising not to attack the Pakistani military.

One can remember that Osama bin Laden was captured in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 1, 2011.  The president hadn't seemed to be very cooperative with the USA to capture him when he was living only a few blocks away from an army base.

Christmas Attacks: Muslims Killing Christian Minorities and Muslims

Nadene Goldfoot
Nigeria, a country in Africa, has a population of 154,279,000 and is the 4th largest Muslim country in the world. Although only 50% of the population are Sunni Muslims, its government is that of a Presidential Federal Republic, which many Muslim countries have adopted. Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh have larger populations with higher percentages of Muslim populations. March was the month when 500 Christians were killed in Central Nigeria, mostly by gangs wielding machetes. Thousands more were killed in past years. In January the Christians had fought back, killing Muslims. Lately the Muslims have been engaged in "secret killings," involving one or a few people at a time being killed. These religious clashes have been going on for some time with the Muslims living in the North and the Christians living in the South.

Nigeria is the #3 supplier of oil to the USA. It is seeing a rise in power and has lucrative oil contacts. It's very important to us.

There are a few Jews here in the embassy. Jews make up only about 2% of the world's population. Most Jews are either in the USA or Israel. Relations between Nigeria and Israel were severed from 1973 to 1992, but by 1993 Israel had an embassy in Nigeria and Nigeria had an embassy in Tel Aviv. Israel is able to help Nigeria in the field of agriculture, and Nigerians have gone to Israel as tourists and for learning. Judaism does not proselyze, but the Koran does not teach love for Jews.

38 Christians were killed over this Christmas weekend by Muslims in Malduguri, Nigeria. At least 24 or more armed men attacked a church and dragged the pastor out of his home to shoot and kill him. Two young men who were practicing for the choir were also killed. 30 Muslims attacked two people who were just passing by Victory Baptist Church and were killed by guns and knives. The attackers then set the church and the pastor's house on fire before leaving the scene.

At the other end of the city more attacks were carried out. Three men attacked the Church of Christ an hour later, killing the 60 year old security guard.

In Central Nigeria, 32 people died from bomb blasts in the worst violence in months. Was the Muslim group al-Quada or the Taliban?

Radical Muslims have been more at the forefront due to their leaders becoming more brazen. Christians have the goal of proselyzing, which is taboo with Muslims, so this may be why they have been attacking them.

Pakistan, 2nd largest Muslim country in the world, with 172,800,000 has a 97% Muslim population of Sunni and Shi'as. It's definitely an Islamic state with a Parliamentary democracy. With all the fighting going on among the tribes, 300,000 are very poor villagers that cannot feed themselves any longer. Many were lined up outside a World Food Program food distribution center and a female suicide bomber managed to kill 45 of them. The Taliban was responsible for this killing. They've closed the Center because of this. Pakistan saw coordinated attacks by 150 Islamic militants at 5 sites in two days of fighting that killed 11 soldiers and 64 terrorists.

Israel does not have an embassy in Pakistan. It has offered aid to Pakistan in time of tragedy that has been turned down, but on one occasion said it would accept it through a 3rd party. Pakistan doesn't recognize Israel. One reason is that Israel has helped India. Pakistani head have been known to have visited Israel, however. One amazing thing is that in the 2002 wimbledon Open, Israel's tennis player Amir Hadad was partnered up with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan and they even played in the 3rd round doubles.

Why kill their own people? They're all the same religion. Pakistan says perhaps it's the terrorist desperation. Desperation about what? Their bombings and fights challenge the government's claims of victory over al-Qaida and the Taliban on the NW border. That's a pretty lame excuse to me to kill one's own innocent people. These terrorists stand for no moral purpose at all. It's just a matter of a power struggle. They have said that they stand for saving Afghanis from terror, lawlessness and corruption. They're worse than anyone!

Somalia, the 25th largest Muslim nation in the world with 9,558,666 and a 99.9% Sunni Muslim population where their coalition government is the Muslim state religion, naturally, saw 12 of their men go to the Netherlands for unknown reasons. The Dutch authorities have cleared 5 of them who they suspicioned were preparing a terrorist attack. They were all picked up at Rotterdam after receiving a tip that an attack might be imminent. Somalia has been involved with so much war tht 77% of Somalis need emergency humanitarian support. They have the highest malnutrition in the world.

Somalia is also after the USA. Fuad Mohamed "Shongole" Qalef, a leader of the Somalian Islamist insurgency, threatened President Obama in a speech today or they would attack the USA unless Obama embraces Islam.

Three of the men had no residency permits and were turned over to immigration. Two were from Denmark. When 12 Somali men are traveling together, one just might be suspicious. I have a feeling that they weren't there in Rotterdam for the Christmas Eve celebration. Rotterdam is one of Europe's biggest centers with a huge port and large oil and gas storage facilities. The officials in charge of security must be extremely careful.

Israel has no bilateral ties with Somalia, but Israel is ready to again recognize Somaliland's independence. Somaliland is a section of Somalia that wants its independence. Israel was the first nation to do so in 1960 when they became independent from Great Britain and is ready to do so again. Somaliland is the only Muslim democracy in the region.

Escapee from Iran Marries Portland Girl by Nadene Goldfoot

My cousin's daughter has married an Iranian Jew, Daniel, who escaped from his country. His parents had to use all their money to pay a group of smugglers to get him out. He became part of a group of 14 boys who fled on camels at night to a border town. After another nightfall they continued their journey in pick-up trucks and were carried over the border to Pakistan, also a Muslim country.

After being in Pakistan for two days, the Pakistani Police caught them. They tore Daniel's shirt while looking for hidden money. Finding none, they threatened to send the boys back to Iran, and were about to, but changed their minds for the price of twenty dollars. Luckily they hadn't found the $1,000 Daniel's mother had sewed into his shirt. That was for a plane ticket to Austria. One cannot go directly to USA from Pakistan, so there is an arangement with Austria to allow Iranian refugees to stay there until their receive immunity from the American government.

After they arrived in Pakistan, they went to the UN embassy and were granted official UN protection papers requiring all UN member countries to help them. With this backing they received temporary Swiss passports. They showed these to the Austrian embassy and were granted visas. This took a month to be completed. Then they were allowed to travel to Austria. He stayed there for 8 months until the American Embassy had his papers ready.

At the age of 16 years he arrived in America. He stayed with religious Jews and went to a Satmar camp one summer where he won a scholarship to Yeshiva University. Daniel decided to study Talmud and to become a doctor, so he studied religious subjects in the morning and medical studies in the afternoon. Luckily he had a brilliant mind. Not many could do this at the same time. He loved studying the religious subjects and was torn between the two. Finally he decided that he could bring happiness into homes by being a doctor.
