USA's State Department Still Doesn't Understand Meaning of Jewish Recognition

The number one expectation that Israel needs from the Palestinians is that they recognize Israel as a Jewish state.   The USA's spokeswoman for the State Department, Jen Psaki, told the "Al-Quds" (name for Jerusalem in Arabic) newspaper that the Palestinians don't need to recognize Israel as a Jewish state in the peace agreement if they don't wish to do so!!!

What?  Has Israel now become occupied and run by the USA and they can change the provisions of a peace treaty at their will?  What kind of peace negotiating is this?

Sorry, but this is not going to be met by Netanyahu or the knesset with joy and approval.  This is such an  important point yet the USA doesn't understand what the consequences are legally that can happen if they don't recognize Israel as a Jewish state and yet they are so obvious.  Israel cannot be in a situation where they will be forced to accept millions of Palestinians in Israel.  It's only 8,000 square miles as it is and would be flooded with Palestinians changing the country completely into another Muslim state to be run by Emirs or Kings, whatever, people like the rest of the Muslim states.  Then the Jews would be slaughtered and Israel would be destroyed.
                                     
The reason Israel was created in the very first place was to have a safe place for Jews to live in, free of hatred and Holocausts and people trying to convert them to their religion.  It is to be a haven for our people.  After being set upon for the past 2,000 years by others, the League of Nations saw that it was high time that Jews could be left alone in peace, and this was before the Holocaust.   Stating it is a Jewish State is their only protection from keeping it from being consumed by the Muslims states.  Netanyahu knows why they won't accept Israel as a Jewish state, and it has to do with the Arabs then having the right of return on the table to flood Israel with Arabs.  Why can't the USA state department see one move ahead?

Showing that there is no way that Palestinians are even considering to make peace, like Jordan did, was the Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen, who said  "There is not a chance that he and the Palestinian nation will recognize Israel as a Jewish state".  Jordan already took over 80% of the promised Jewish Homeland and has been peaceful with Israel since the War of 1973.  The same goes for Egypt.  Sadat came to Jerusalem and made peace.  Egypt hasn't been trying to take over Israel's land.  Neither Egypt nor Jordan have accepted Israel as a Jewish state, however.  Their behavior so far hasn't called for Israel's needing it.  They made peace.
                                                                       

The concept and goals of a Palestine have been very undemocratic and quite like the Nazis.    They're demanding that Judea and Samaria must be all theirs and that no Jew can live there.  That's calling for the removal of about 400,000 Jews.  They want East Jerusalem, and Jerusalem is and has been since the beginning of recorded time the capital of the Jewish people.  To have a people drooling at the mouth to take over your country including a quarter of your capital  is just not going to happen.  Besides that, they've had many a Freudian slip that they plan on taking over all of Jerusalem.  It goes with the Hamas charter.   Fatah has joined Hamas in the past, only to be divided over who is the leader of both.  The only difference is that Hamas is hitting at Israel directly while Fatah has pulled the wool over the eyes of the world in pretending to want peace.  Sure, peace, like teaching their children with maps showing Palestine and no Israel, teaching songs of hatred for Jews.  They are fighting the battle between Jews and Palestinians with massive brain washing of their own people and this in turn has brain-washed many others as well.

 There has to be space between for security with a people unable to accept Israel on any count.  This is a people who have been attacking Jews since 1948.  There hasn't been much let-up.  Israel is still being attacked by Hamas terrorists and Fatah has had it's attacks as well; human walking bombs into restaurants and schools and such.  Hamas follows the Muslim Brotherhood Charter of destroying all of Israel and killing the Jews.  That's why it is absolutely necessary that they come to the conclusion that if they expect peace, they must accept Israel as being different from them; that they are a Jewish nation, democratic and wanting to enjoy life, and that 6 million of them, Jews, are following the laws of Moses.  Why is this so hard to accept?

Israel can't have a Palestinian state right next to them which will continue to fighting with the goal to destroy Israel.  One thing Israel is not is stupid.

All along, the Fatah Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria have been promoting hatred and denial of Israel in their culture, starting in their schools. They even celebrate the killers of Jews with lots of recognition and praise in city-wide programs.   They have done nothing to show that there will be peace between the two people.  Hamas continues to shell the parts of Israel within their scope of missile distance and vows never to make peace but to destroy Israel.  Abusive people we've got for neighbors.  And the state department thinks Israel can let them get away without recognizing them as a Jewish state?  They've got to be kidding.  Israel is not about to sign away their own land to a people who have been their enemy for the past 67 years.

Yom Kippur War of 1973 Remembered with an Intifada of Rioting, Killing in Israel and Egypt

Yesterday was a celebration with violence of the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War of October 6, 1973 when Egypt and Syria attacked Israel with their other neighbors always so eager to get their licks in,  which for Egypt is a national day of celebration as they think they won that war. The Arab states were grumbling and plotting ever since Israel was the winner in their vile mass attack against her in 1967, so by 1971 and 1972 Egypt demanded weapons from the Soviet Union being the USA supported Israel with weapons.  Russia refused them, not wanting to extend its military involvement in Egypt. Sadat was so angry that he expelled most of the Soviet military personnel from Egypt in return.  At the end of 1972 the option of war appeared more remote than ever.  Negotiations were one option, but evidently Golda Meier was finished with them.

Incidentally, Egypt had the upper hand until October 14th when the tide turned and Israel crossed the Suez Canal and cut off the Egyptian 3rd Army.  Only Kissinger stopped Israel from taking Cairo with his cease fire.  Israel was heated up after the sneak attack from their neighbors on the highest of holy days when all Jews were in a synagogue praying.  They then signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979.  This was brought about because Israel gave back the Sinai it had won in the 1967 attack of all the Arab nations upon the wee state.  This has brought on a lot of rioting in Israel and evidently the same thing is going on in Egypt.

Along with the threatened 3rd intifada in Gaza starting up by radical Muslim groups of Hamas  and Fatah and others in Israel, Egypt has its hands full of the Muslim Brotherhood continuing to demonstrate and be against the takeover of the military secularists of Egypt.  The Muslim Brotherhood Charter is the same as the Hamas Charter and they are against the creation of Israel and are all out to kill Jews and take Israel for themselves.  Egypt had been enjoying peace with Israel with Sadat at the helm.  They even had Israeli tourists visit who were so excited to see this exotic country that held so much of their history as well.  Jews were finally allowed to visit with peace being in place.

Today, militants (Muslim Brotherhood members) killed 6 Egyptian soldiers near the Suez Canal and hit the state satellite station in Cairo with rocket-propelled grenades.  This is demonstrating an Islamist insurgency that is in step with an intifada.

Many members of the Muslim Brotherhood died in clashes with security forces and opponents yesterday.  It turned out to be one of the bloodiest days since July when the Muslim Brotherhood head, President Morsi,  was deposed.  53 people were reported killed in the clashes and 271 were wounded.  Of course the Brotherhood is denying all involvement in the rioting.  His supporters are calling for protests for tomorrow and Friday.  Egypt's army chief said he told Morsi back in February that he had failed as a president.  Pro-Morsi rallies were some of the largest since he had been ousted 3 months ago.

Egypt's military has been forced to take a tough stand with the Muslim Brotherhood who has not been compliant about acting peacefully.  They didn't like losing.  They were told they would be treated as agents of foreign powers if they partook in riots right now.  In return, the Brotherhood accused the army of the coup and eliminate them through violence, allegations  and arrests.  There have been rioting in the Sinai on security forces and in the suburb of Cairo called Maadi.  Car bombs are also used.

Soldiers were fired upon Ismailia while sitting in their car near Canal.  In the heart of Cairo were clashes.
Militants are following al-Qaeda in the Sinai and have killed over 100 security force members since July.  Hundreds of the Brotherhood were killed on August 14th when security forces broke into their camps in Cairo.  As General Sissi said, they reacted to the will of the people after his first year who were quickly fed up with the Brotherhood and their false promises.  They had always been outlawed anyway in Egypt.

Kissinger Disagreed With Golda Meier Over the 1973 Yom Kippur War

According to today's article by David Ignatius in our Oregonian today, Henry Kissinger, the USA national security adviser to President Nixon,  didn't agree with 1973's Prime Minister, Golda Meier in not talking to Sadat before it all started.  He thought it could have been averted.  Kissinger then became the USA's Secretary of State in September 1973 and remained there till 1977.    He is a German Jew.  "In 1938, fleeing Nazi persecution, his family moved to London, England, before arriving in New York on September 5th."  This was a year before my uncle, Werner Oster, was able to get out of Germany as one of the last who managed to escape.  It had taken every penny his parents had to save him but could not save the rest of his family.  

I hate to argue with Kissinger, but he was working for the USA's best interests then and not Israel's. He was acting like a disinterested person in regards to Israel.   The war started on October 6, 1973 when Egypt, Syria and 9 other Middle East nations attacked Israel.  One week after the attack, and against Kissinger's own advice but through Nixon's directions, the US military conducted the largest military airlift in history to help Israel on October 12, 1973. Ignatius writes that by the 6th, Kissinger was frustrated because he had found out that Sadat had a peace initiative and had aspirations to launch his peace initiative that would allow Egypt to regain most of the Sinai and disconnect it from the larger Arab-Israeli dispute.  Kissinger hadn't even told President Nixon about the attack on Israel which occurred on Yom Kippur, the most holy Jewish day, the  Day of Atonement, when all Jews were attending a synagogue.  Kissinger didn't tell him in order to keep him from interfering.  Which side was he on, anyway?

It seems that Kissinger and his American secret diplomacy started with a secret meeting in March 1973 in Armonk, NY with Sadat's national security adviser, his mirror image, Hafez Isrmail.  The Egyptians had been publicly threatening to attack Israel to regain territory lost in the 1967 war, but that Sadat had in mind a peace initiative which turned out to be what was negotiated in Camp David Accords anyway,  5 years later.  Yigal Kipnis, author of a new book, "1973:  The Road to War," that Sadat was ready in September 1973, the month before the 11 nation attack on Yom Kippur.  His research comes from Israeli records that had just been released recently.

Kissinger talked to Yitzhak Rabin and Simcha Dinitz, Israeli ambassadors to Washington in 1973 about his secret conversations.  Rabin told his boss, Golda Meir,  about Kissinger's conversation where a peace offer was laid out, but Meir and the other Israeli leaders were wary.  Meir was against any negotiations.  She considered Sadat an enemy and didn't believe him after the threats she had received.  According to Ignatius, Meier depended on a Mossad agent who was inside Sadat's inner circle, Ashraf Marwan.  He had warned Golda 6 times that Egypt was about to go to war, and he had been wrong.  Then he warned her again just the day before the Arab nations attacked but wasn't taken seriously.  It's the old story of crying Wolf, wolf!  Had he been a double agent?  Did Israel realize that Egypt had been prepared to go to war?  For this tiny nation of about 5 million, they suffered with 2,500 soldiers killed.  The Arabs lost more than that.

By conducting this massive airlift and siding with Israel, they contributed to the 1973 oil crisis in the USA and western European allies which ended in March of 1974 in which Kissinger was the negotiator to end the war.

As usual when the Arabs have attacked Israel, Israel wins and in defending their land, attain some of the Arab land.  Tit for tat.  Something has to happen when Arabs keep attacking Israel in a war.  This time wasn't different.  Israel regained territory it lost in the early fighting and gained new territories from Syria and Egypt including the Golan Heights which it continues to hold.  This is a strategic site that is high and gives Israel a chance to see what takes place below.

They also gained land on the western bank of the Suez Canal but lost some land on the eastern side of the Canal that had been in their hands since the end of the Six Day War of 1967.

It was Kissinger who pressured the Israelis to cede some of the newly captured land back to its Arab neighbors which became the beginnings of the Israeli-Egyptian non-aggression which was a warming in US-Egyptian relations that was on the downside since the 1950's.  Peace was finalized in 1978 when Jimmy Carter was a part of the 1978 Camp David Accords.  This is when Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula  in exchange for a peace agreement including the recognition of the state of Israel by Egypt.  "After his term, his opinion was still sought by some subsequent US presidents and other world leaders."

The question remains as to when does a wary nation talk to the enemy before the big bang and they find themselves in a full blown war?  In this case, as with Iran, the country doing the threatening should not be surprised if they suddenly turn 180 degrees around and out of the blue ask for talks.  You call Wolf once too many times and who's going to believe you?  This is why Netanyahu is not anxious to talk to President Rouhani of Iran.  You are known by your reputation, whether you are a student in school  or are the President of a country.  Your words follow you.

One of my friends had been in the 1973 war.  You could say he was a sufferer from PTSD from being a tank commander.  I don't think that Israel's leaders were guilty in missing out in a chance to have peace before the attack. Chances are that Israel wouldn't have been in favor of the total package anyway but that they would have needed to sit down and discuss all the itty bitty parts of it.   How was it that the 11 nations  were so ready to attack Israel?  Be sure to read about the Yom Kippur War in my reference below.

The Past 40 Years With Egypt From a Jewish Perspective

Israel usually is always the one to bend in gaining peace with her neighbors.  Even after the 1967 Six Day War when all the Arab nations attacked Israel but lost the battle, the Arabs decided to attack Israel again in 1973 on Yom Kippur and lost again. This attack by an Arab coalition of states  was led by Egypt and Syria starting on October 6th and lasting until the 25th.

 The Camp David Peace Accords were held starting on September 17, 1978.  "They were the result of 14 months of diplomatic efforts by Egypt, Israel, and the United States that began after Jimmy Carter became President." 

Sadat visited Israel 10 days after telling his government he was going to visit Israel  on November 9, 1977.  and made peace this time with Israelis admiring him greatly for his 3 day visit including addressing the Knesset.   16 months after his visit, Egypt was the first to make peace with Israel out of all the Arab nations that were defiant in its creation by signing a mutual recognition peace treaty with Israel on March 26, 1979 in Washington DC.  The Camp David Accords also prompted the disintegration of a united Arab front in opposition to Israel.  

"As part of the agreement,  the U.S. began economic and military aid to Egypt,  and political backing for its subsequent governments.   From the Camp David peace accords in 1978 until 2000,  the United States has subsidized Egypt's armed forces with over $38 billion worth of aid.   Egypt receives about $1.3 billion annually."  Since then they are receiving 1.5 billion each year but the amount is now being reconsidered because of the disturbance of a possible coup in Egypt where the Muslim Brotherhood had been in power. The people have overturned that and have taken charge with the more secular military.    "Between 1948 and 2011,  the United States has given Egypt about $71.6 billion in bilateral military and economic aid."
     
 Israel gave back the Sinai, taken in 1967.  "Begin remained determined to continue the peace process. In the end, he agreed to return to Egypt the strategically critical Sinai — 91 percent of the territory won by Israel during the Six-Day War — in exchange for Sadat's promise to make peace."

For his efforts, Sadat was assassinated by a Muslim Brotherhood army officer on October 6, 1981. He was the son of an Egyptian father and Sudanese Nubian mother and had 13 brothers and sisters.   Sadat had been born on December 25, 1918 right after WWI  had ended on November 11th. 

Egypt is still battling against the Muslim Brotherhood.  278 people have been killed since Wednesday as riot police cleared out 2 camps of them.  The interim Vice President, Mohamed El Baradei has resigned.   Israel, with Egypt's military cooperation, was able to use a drone and hit 5 terrorists connected to Al Qaeda about to shoot into Israel.  This cooperation has taken place now with the Muslim Brotherhood not in power.  Egypt is also taking the credit for doing so.  Perhaps it was their combined efforts.  

 The United States is complaining that putting an end to the rioting  must be done differently than brute force.  "The White House condemned the violence and said the United States “strongly opposed” the imposition of a state of emergency by the military-backed government."  As I see it, the violence is coming from the violent reaction of the Muslim Brotherhood in reaction to Morsi being deposed.  They are not about to be agreeable for the good of the state but want their power back.   

Outside of the USA, force is usually met with force. However, the USA is giving a quarter billion more dollars to Syria who is also in turmoil with a civil war between the government and the people.  Has the United States considered withdrawing this aid from a despicable despot?  Assad is no sweetheart.  He had been financed by the Russians.  

It's unfortunate that the Muslim Brotherhood gained power in the first place.  Now that error has been rectified, but is causing something akin to a Civil War that has also happened in Syria. Whereas it looks like Assad's government might be winning, right now  it looks like the Egyptian military is winning with a quick put down.  Only time will tell.

How Democracy Is Not Created Easily in Middle East-Or From Pharaoh to President in One Easy Step

Can you make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?  Hardly.  You can only make a pigskin purse. Perhaps democratic principals come to people slowly.   Democracy came to the USA out of rare circumstances that have only been replicated by Israel in the Middle East, and is very hard to come by in Iraq or Egypt.  Egypt had been ruled by pharaohs for thousands of years.  A pharaoh is a permanent title of the king of Egypt in ancient times.  It meant "Great House." and originally referred to the royal palace, somewhat like we Americans refer to the "White House."

It took at least a 1,000 years for Englishmen to want something better than English law.  A group of religious zealots went to Holland out of their frustration with the Episcopalian state religion in England but became frustrated there as they watched their children speak Dutch instead of their language, English, which they wanted to perpetuate.  They didn't want their religious goals to be lost by their children, so braved the idea of sailing to a new world, much as we would think of taking a spaceship destined for some just found planet with oxygen.  Luckily, further ships brought to America's shores some very intelligent men who were able to write up a "Mayflower Compact", named for their first ship, that set the standards for their budding democracy.  Look at all the steps we've gone through to arrive where we are today in our politics of ruling over a vast territory made up of 50 states which has 3.79 million square miles with about 315 million people. Out of the population are about 6 million Jews or 3% of the population.  We went from 1620 to 1776 with our constitution which continues to be embellished.

Suddenly,  our marvelous country, which is the 3rd largest in the world,  made up of all the ethnic people of this planet expects Egypt to suddenly follow suit and have a democratic way of ruling in their first encounter with democracy with Mohammed  Morsi, head of the Muslim Brotherhood.  He didn't have the heart for it.

The USA is the first country on earth to give Jews a chance of survival.  After living here since the beginnings of the budding USA, Jews have been able to meld  USA democracy with the Torah's expectations of Democracy for Israel.  Israel is a miniature USA made up of Jews from all over the world as well as including other religions in its fold with equal rights while still being a Jewish country.  The USA is a Christian country established by Christians.  It follows customs of Sunday being a day of rest and all the national Christian holidays meaning they are days of vacation for students and federal workers.  Egyptians tried it for a year and that was enough with the man they had elected.  They were losing their rights with him.

 Egyptians are facing about 6,000 years at least of a strong type of a one-dictator  leadership, from Pharaohs to Shah rulers of the Ottoman Empire to being under British rule.  President Anwar Sadat (1918-1981) was their last most reasonable ruler as President from 1970 to 1981, but even he saw that he was under the thumb of the Arab League when Egypt was banned from its membership because of his November 1977 trip to Jerusalem and made peace with Israel. This was even followed up with the Camp David Accords which shattered the fragile unity of the Arabs.

 However, Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979 before he was assassinated by Muslim Brotherhood, a group of Islamic fundamentalists, in the midst of the October War celebration  in 1981 while reviewing a military parade in Cairo.  Vice-President Husni Mubarak, who took over, kept the peace, even though he was a tough dictator with his people.  In due time he himself had been elected as President of Egypt.  He punished Sadat's murderers, the Muslim Brotherhood after a noisy public trial and released Sadat's political prisoners and invited them to the presidential palace for discussions.  He continued Sadat's Open Door policy and stressed the need for greater productions.  He continued relations with Israel and presided over Egypt's repossession of the last section of the Sinai.

Mubarak wasn't enlightened like Sadat was, but  tried to cultivate the friendship of the Soviet Union and the Arab states.  Egypt got back into the Arab fold when the Israel-Lebanon war occurred in 1982 which Egypt had protested about and recalled its ambassador from Tel Aviv.   Getting back into the Arab world, evidently  wasn't good enough to solve Egypt's problems more  than Sadat or Nasser had done.  Whereas Sadat had outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Morsi was the head of, suddenly we find him "democratically voted in" and in power, and with this power turned the tables and had Mubarak up for charges and jailed.

Islamists feel that Sadat should never have signed a separate peace treaty with Israel.  From their viewpoint, Sadat was a practicing Muslim and should have known the close connection of Islam with Arabism and the emotional attachment of all Muslims to "Jerusalem", if not to Palestine.  This is how the Arab world sees it today.  This is where Morsi was in his thinking.  Only the money coming in from the USA probably kept him from attacking Israel with promised American jet fighters on the way to become a part of Egypt's arsenal.

After a year of the Muslim Brotherhood's main man, Morsi, Egypt has had it and the Military took over on July 3rd, a little better than a week ago.   Our White House and Turkey are pushing for the "democratic steps" of waiting and voting in another and not taking over with a coup or even a soft coup, as the military calls it.  The USA cannot legally give money to a country that has had a coup.

 It's like a school who has a first year teacher hired on a trial basis.  If he or she receives a lot of bad reports from the principal, she is not re-hired.  However, Egypt and other countries have the ruling of a country that is stuck with a lemon for 4 years and then they can have another to rule the country.  Egypt found the Muslim Brotherhood to be intolerable and decided they couldn't wait for 4 years.  They had made a mistake and are bound to do the job over again.  Which makes me wonder about the validity of the democratic election in the first place.  How was it that they did not know of the dangers of a Muslim Brotherhood rule?  They had gone from a very secular state to Sharia Law with the Brotherhood.  It was too much.

Former UN ambassador John Bolton just wrote an article in which he lamented the downfall  of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who he said "understood his country better than the Western know-it-alls."  To have pushed for democracy in Egypt during this Arab Spring was stretching a country who was peaceful with its neighbor, Israel.  Uncorking the Muslim Brotherhood out of  the genie bottle was their error.  To make matters worse,  by backing  this group, whose charter calls for the destruction of Jews and Israel and the taking over of the United States is absolutely shocking.

Morsi (b: August 8, 1951) was the chairman of the Freedom and Justice Party which was founded in 2011 during Egypt's Revolution by the Muslim Brotherhood.  On the 24th of June 2012, he became Egypt's first "democratically elected" but 5th president of Egypt.  Supposedly he had 51.7% of the votes against Shafik's 48.3% in the election.  Shafik was the prime minister  of the Mubarak government.  It was "after Morsi temporarily granted himself unlimited powers to "protect" the nation in late November 2012' people began to immediately protest.  The whole idea of a democracy is to get away from a one-man rule and clever Morsi just brought it on to himself.

Now that the Muslim Brotherhood has lost face by being ousted, their followers are taking it out on the Christians who live in Egypt. " The attacks have hit across the country, in the northern Sinai Peninsula, in a resort town on the Mediterranean coast, in Port Said along the Suez Canal and in isolated villages in upper Egypt.  A new wave of violence has been unleashed.  The Brotherhood blames them for having supported the calls to overthrow Morsi.  Brotherhood members have shot dead a priest in the street and have painted black X's on Christian shops to mark them for arson.  Angry mobs have attacked churches and seized Christians in their homes.  4 Christians were slaughtered with knives and machetes in one village last week after the Military coup.

The 2011 revolution alarmed many Christians that overthrew Mubarak.  Coptic Christians are a small minority of the country and did not foresee what could happen to them. Egypt is made up of about 80,000,000 people of which 90% are Sunni Muslims.  Islam is a state religion.   Most all Jews have moved next door to Israel.

The scuttlebutt now is that Morsi escaped from prison during the 2011 revolution with help from Hamas.  I wouldn't be surprised being they both share the same charter in dealing about Israel and Jews.  Egypt's prosecutors are now investigating these allegations.  Chief prosecutor Hesham Barakat has testimonies from a court in Ismailia who are looking into the jailbreak by Mohammed Morsi and 30 other Muslim Brotherhood leaders.  If this proves to be true, legally it can lead to showing proof of foreign intervention on Egyptian soil that leads to treason charges.  Morsi is now kept  in an unknown place, and no charges have been filed as yet.  Hamas is denying the allegation of January 29, 2011 jailbreak at the Wadi-el-Natrun prison NW of Cairo.

What our USA is finding fault with now is of the Egyptian military and interim government's arrests of Morsi's supporters.  The continued detentions are inconsistent with pledges of inclusivity made by authorities and may affect  future monies from the USA.  Ongoing arrests of the Muslim Brotherhood members are troubling to democracies.  The neighbor most affected and seriously watching is Israel.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood Head's Wild Proposal to Israeli Jews

A 58 year old  physician  known for his Sufi's  tendency (lover of the truth) named Essam el-Erian is vice president of the Justice and Freedom Party of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a country with a population of 79,089,650+.  This shlemiel (foolish person)  has come up with a way to solve the Brotherhood's  Jewish problem.  During a 2012  interview on Egypt's Dream TV, he said that he wants all former Egyptian Jews and their descendants  to move out of Israel to make way for the Palestinians, so here's what he has proposed, on his own efforts, mind you.

 He wants them all to come back to live in Egypt as 2nd class citizens or dhimmi, of course.(Never mind that a 25 year old in 1948 would be 90 years old today.)   They would live under Sharia law and being dhimmis, would have to pay an extra special tax just like non-Muslims did in the Ottoman Empire that ended with the end of WWI in 1918. Erian stated that although his party was against Zionism, it was not against the Jews, stating that "they have a complicated history, but the Jewish motherland is not Israel" The Ottomans were on the side of the Germans, so lost the war.  Erian  blamed former leader Gamal Abdel Nasser for all the Jews leaving Egypt.  In 1948 there were 75,000 Jews living in Egypt.  By 2004 there were less than 100.

Not only Egyptian Jews, but all Jews living in Israel should go back to their home of origin, whether it be Poland or the USA.  He doesn't even know that we have always had a Jewish presence in Palestine before 1948 ever since many  were forced to leave in 70 CE.

The come-on to this ridiculous proposal was that he would return their wealth.  Only a few hours after his statement, he spurred one of the groups representing former Egyptian Jews who were going to put in a claim of 30 billion dollars.  In 1948, most all the Muslim states expelled the Jews after hearing of Israel's creation.  They were homeless and could not take any of their property or money, and of course they then made aliyah to Israel-quickly.

The other Egyptian political officials, lawyers and the media  were in an uproar over this offer as well as the idea of it so that Erian had to resign his position as adviser to President Morsi 4 days ago.  .  Some of the protesters, and this shows how opposite their thinking is from the West, said that Erian acted to curry favor with the USA and with the Zionist lobby (AIPAC).  There is nothing in his proposal to curry anyone's favor.  It was an improvement over the religious leaders putting a fatwa out to kill us all, as many have already done, but he's being a lufmench (impractical fellow) to dream this idea up.

There were realists in the crowd who pointed out that Jews had been forced to leave because of attacks from the Brotherhood (Brotherhood started in 1930's and had pogroms against Jews in Cairo in 1940's).   The 8,000 Jews of Egypt  had to abandon their wealth as well.  They thought the government would have to come to term with with facts sometime but not now.  Another pointed out the fact (they were taking this very seriously) that they would be killed because of Sharia Law commanding that they be killed.

Erian, carrying deep seated hostility in his heart and  in trying to come up with a solution to the Palestinian-Israel problem, was sued by a lawyer for harming the country's security and causing panic.  Morsi wasn't perturbed.  He said that Erian voiced his own opinion and he just didn't share it but the media storm rages on.

The Muslim Brotherhood has had it in for the Jews ever since 1928.  They published Mein Kampf in Arabic and called it "My Jihad"  Sayed Qutub's book was titled, "My fight Against the Jews." which is only one of many reviling Jews. " In April 2001, columnist Ahmed Ragheb lamented Hitler's failure to finish the job of annihilating the Jews."

Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood party  has the media being openly anti-Semitic.  The fact is that there are almost no Jews left in the country.  If there are, they are extremely old people.  Clerics rant daily against Jews. They all think Israel will fall within 10 years.  Morsi has said many things backing this belief, like when he told Al Quds TV that "The Zionists have no right to the land of Palestine and there is no place for them on that land.  We must confront that Zionist entity.  All ties of all kinds must be severed," he added.

This is what the Muslim Brotherhood has brought on.  We've had 39 years of peace between Egypt and Israel since our last war which was in October 1973.   Sadat came to Israel in 1977 to speak.  When Egypt and Syria attacked  in 1973 on our holiest day of Yom Kippur, we were unprepared as everyone was in a synagogue. Israel pulled together quickly though,  and the IDF got as far as 100 kilometers from Cairo and in turn shook up the Egyptians; but in all we lost 2,688 soldiers, the worst war since 1948.    .

Sadat interpreted the Koran in a different way from today's radicals.  He said, "I quote the following verses from the holy Koran:

"We believe in God and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the tribes and in the books given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their lord. We make no distinction between one and another among them and to God we submit."

Obama Administration on Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood Goals

"America’s fundamental inability to take religion and ideology seriously persists."  

Senator John Kerry, likely the next Secretary of State, stated confidently after meeting Morsi in Cairo in June, 2012 that the Egyptian president was “committed to protecting fundamental freedoms” and “said he understood the importance of Egypt’s post-revolutionary relationships with America and Israel.”

"The Obama administration has shown even more willingness than its predecessors to look the other way in the face of Brotherhood abuses of power—and of women and religious minorities—in pursuit of an “authentic” Egyptian democracy.  It has not taken the Brotherhood’s credo to heart: “Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law; the Prophet is our leader; jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations.”   No wonder Obama selected Kerry as the possible Secretary of State.  

The Muslim Brotherhood was created in 1928 in Egypt and banned several times starting in 1948.  it supported the Egyptian Revolution in 1952 and tried to assassinate President Nasser.  By electing Morsi, it is now in power.  President Anwar Sadat, Israel's peace partner, was assassinated on October 7, 1981.   "The attackers would eventually come to be identified as Islamist nationalists associated with the Muslim Brotherhood under the name of Islamic Jihad.  Mubarak took over and carried out all previous peace programs.

"As a result of Sadat's assassination, the Muslim Brotherhood remained banned and the Camp David Accords were saved, along with Egypt's power elite. Vice President Mubarak, now President, completed Sadat's term and went on to lead Egypt for the next thirty years. Furthermore, had the Muslim Brotherhood assumed power back in 1981, it would have repudiated the Camp David Accords at once." Morsi won the so called election and put a very ill Mubarak in prison.

We all thought when Kerry  was running for President that he was pro-Israel.  Time tells a confusingly different story.
"At the Democratic Convention in 2012 Kerry ignored the decision of his party leadership to remove Jerusalem from their platform and instead opened his podium speech by attacking Romney for his “neo-con advisors” and then proceeded to quote Benjamin Netanyahu out of context."

We all know what Kerry meant when he said “neo-cons” – it is code speak for pro-Zionists. Kerry’s words show that he will be hostile to the very existence  of Israeli towns in the suburbs of Jerusalem. Democrats consider these “settlements” to be part of the “Occupied West Bank” and he will label them as such.  Such thinking is like a double-edged sword.  What does he not approve of;  Jerusalem suburbs or Zionists?  Obviously he hasn't checked with international lawyers such as Professor Eugene Kontorovich about Jerusalem.

President Obama does not seem to approve of Israel, especially with his tussle with Netanyahu over 1969 lines that was watched on TV,  and his choices reflect this  with Kerry and Hagel.  If Israel finds itself in a vise, we can look to our own Jewish population of which 69%  voted in this President.  Though Jews are only about 2% of the USA population, they are leaders.  J Street takes an opposing view compared with AIPAC as the  “pro-peace, pro-Israel” J Street lobby group and said Hagel “would be an outstanding choice” to head the Pentagon."  "(AIPAC), the most influential pro-Israel lobby group, has so far kept a discreet silence, although a former longstanding spokesman, Josh Block, who now heads The Israel Project, strongly denounced Hagel for his opposition to sanctions against Iran and his refusal to sign various letters and resolutions against Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas that were favoured, if not drafted, by AIPAC.

Egypt's New Republic of Sharia Law and Attitude

Egypt's history with their neighbor, Israel, has been running hot and cold. They've been in wars before 1967, and then in 1972. Sadat came to visit and speak to Israelis in 1977, and became a well loved personage.   After being in the Camp David Accords, Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel on March 26, 1979.   Finally, after the several wars in which Egypt attacked Israel and lost, they finally had a peace made by Sadat and carried on with Mubarak.  Now that Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood has imprisoned Mubarak, we see many changes for the worst for Israel.

Morsi spouts that he is bringing Democracy to Egypt, but has not a clue as to its meaning.  He uses this word to hide behind while he institutes Sharia Law that not everyone is willing to be ruled by in Egypt.

His opponents say that the constitution allows a dictatorship of the majority--which Islamists have won with repeated election victories in the past 2 years.  We know that they have not been fair elections, and people most likely have been advised, threatened and forced to vote for him and for good measure the voting boxes were most likely illegally stuffed with Morsi's name by his party.

The charter's provisions for greater implementation of Islamic law, or Shariah, will allow only Islamists who hold the presidency like Morsi, and not other viewpoints.  In other words, it's an Islamist takeover from a secular society. In Sadat and Mubakak's day the Muslim Brotherhood was outlawed and such people as Qaradawi were banned from Egypt. Qaradawi moved to Qatar where he is a great friend of the Emir.    They will now overwhelmingly dominate the temporary legislature to restrict civil rights and limit the freedoms of minorities and women.

The opponents, with the main one being the National Salvation Front,  say that the turnout was low in the referendum, so low that only 33% turned out.  This undermines the document's legitimacy.  They are going to study Morsi's speech and decide if his dialogue between himself and other Islamists was serious or just  "theater."

The changeover to a Muslim Brotherhood rule is detrimental for Israel and could affect their peace treaty.  The Muslim Brotherhood now is ruling the Arab world's largest and most important nation; Egypt.  Their moral guide, Mohammed Badie,  says that "The Jews have dominated the land, spread corruption on earth, spilled the blood of believers and in their actions profaned holy places.  Zionists only understand the language of force and will not relent without duress.  This will happen only through holy Jihad."

Al Nabi Mansour prayed at a nationally televised service at el-Tenaim Mosque which was  attended by Egyptian President Morsi.  Futouh Abd al-Nabi Mansour, Egyptian cleric who heads the religious endowment for the Matrouh Governate said, "Oh Allah, destroy the Jews and their supporters--Oh Allah, disperse them and rend them asunder, Oh Allah, demonstrate your might and greatness upon them."  Morsi was shown on TV fervently answering "Amin" (Amen).  October 19, 2012 from MEMRI

Gang of Eleven Arab States in 1973 War Against Israel

The 1967 Six Day War set the scene for the 1973 Yom Kippur War.  The Arabs wanted their land back, even after attacking in a mob and losing.  

Egypt's Sadat  was  demanding in 1971 that they would sign an agreement with Israel IF all occupied territories were returned to them from 1967. The next year he said war was inevitable and he was prepared to sacrifice one million soldiers in a showdown.  It remained a threat in 1972 and much of 1973 and he wanted the USA to accept his interpretation of Resolution 242;  total Israeli withdrawal from territories taken in 1967.  The USA agreed with Israel that Egypt needed to engage in direct negotiations, and Kissinger had opened a new dialogue for peace at the UN.  They all thought war was not on the table.  The surprise attack came on Yom Kippur, October 6, 1973.  This is the holiest day of the year for Jews, the day almost all are fasting and in the synagogues.  

The odds were awesome on 1st day!

By October 22nd, Resolution 338; cease fire called just when Israel cut off and isolated the Egyptian 3rd Army and was ready to destroy it. Israel had lost 2,688 soldiers in this war, which was more than any previous.  Consider that the population in Israel in 1972 was only 3,164,000 makes this a very high % lost in a war.  This war undermined the  growth record of Israel from May 1961 to May 1972 of 944,500.  Israel had had 315,000 immigrants.  This was a growth of 44%.  The Israeli Navy had sunk 34 ships and helped to save the population.   

Sadat  went to Jerusalem on November 20, 1977 and was highly welcomed. After attending the Camp David Accords in 1978, Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel on March 26, 1979.   He was gunned down by the Muslim Brotherhood (fundamentalists)  in 1981 because the killers had a different vision of Egypt, not the one Sadat had of believing in the development of a good relationship with the West.  Israel had returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt but kept the Gaza Strip which would go to the Palestinians for a state at the right time.  Since then Israel has withdrawn all from Gaza.  

We know that Egypt and Syria started the 1973 Yom Kippur War against Israel.  Their compatriots involved 11 other Arab states as well.  There's nothing like a gang to gang up on one tiny state and yet couldn't win with those odds.

1. Jordan was one of them, being Israel's neighbor, but he was probably the least enthusiastic.  It looks like he was kept out of the plans of Egypt and Syria.  He sent his 2 best units to participate, the 40th and 60th armored brigades--to Syria.  They were along the southern sector, defending the man Amman-Damascus route and attacked Israelis along the Kuneitra-Sassa road on October 16th.  3 Jordanian artillery batteries were also involved, carried out by almost 100 tanks.  

2. Iraq transferred a squadron of Hunter jets to Egypt a few months before the war started.  An Iraqi division of 18,000 men and around 200 tanks were deployed in the central Golan and were also in the October 16th attack against Israel.  Iraqi MiG's were over the Golan Heights by October 8th, the 3rd day of the war.  

3. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had men in the battle.  Saudis had a brigade of about 3,000 troops sent to Syria where they fought along the approaches to Damascus.  

4. Libya transferred Mirage fighters to Egypt to help out.  This was in violation of the Paris's ban on transferring French-made weapons.  From 1971 to 1973 Qaddafi had given Cairo over $1 billion in aid to rearm Egypt and pay the Soviets for weapons delivered.  

5. Algeria sent 3 aircraft squadrons of fighters and bombers, an armored brigade and 150 tanks.  

6. Tunisian soldiers numbering from 1,000 to 2,000 were positioned in the Nile Delta.  

7. Sudan stationed 3,500 troops in southern Egypt.

8. Morocco sent 3 brigades to the front lines including 2,500 men to Syria.  

9. Lebanon had radar units that were used by Syrian air defense forces.  

10.-11. Palestinians fought on the Southern Front with the Egyptians and Kuwaitis.  Lebanon also allowed Palestinian terrorists to shell Israeli  villages and towns from its territory.

The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood That Isn't Moderate

A little more than half of Egypt is excited about the Muslim Brotherhood getting the vote for President..  They say:
"The Quran is our law"
Jihad is our way
Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.
However, the new president, Mohammed Morsi, hasn't said a word about the Muslim side of the Muslim Brotherhood and is trying to calm the fears of many.  In fact,Obama's  Director of National Intelligence, James R. Clapper,  said that the Muslim Brotherhood is moderate and largely secular.  Was it just the Old Muslim Brotherhood that had assassinated Sadat and caused Mubarak to outlaw them, then?  .

The army was so alarmed that they had a coup and dissolved the parliament which was in the Muslim Brotherhood's hands.  It was only 16 months ago when Mubarak was ousted and the Arab Spring had descended with Obama and Hillary Clinton excited about this event and even taking some of the credit.  Mubarak may have not been the best fellow, but he was on the same page with the USA and in agreement with the 1979 peace treaty that Sadat and Begin had made.  The Muslim Brotherhood is the in-group for Hamas and al-Qaida and other terrorists.

Though we were friends with Mubarak, Obama said back in February 2011 that he positioned the US on the right side of victory by backing the elections.  The Muslim Brotherhood  had been the archenemy of Hosni Mubarak and was outlawed.  They were the ones pushing these elections along with the USA.

Mohammed Mursi or Morsi, b: August 20, 1951 who  attended U of Southern California  and was assistant professor at California  State,  the newly elected President says " he'll seek "stability, love and brotherhood for the Egyptian civil, national, democratic, constitutional and modern state."  Obama and staff are reported to be alarmed at the turn of events of the army stepping into the picture. A few  TV pundits are alarmed that the Muslim Brotherhood had won the presidency because of what they stand for and how it can affect the USA and Israel.  The Muslim Brotherhood of today is still not a group of moderates.  However, Obama will push against the army's decision to draft a new constitution for Egypt.

By going democratic, Obama and Clinton made sure on March 22, 2012 that $1.5 billion dollars will go to Egypt  in economic aid.  "A senior State Department official said the decisions “reflect our overarching goal: to maintain our strategic partnership with an Egypt made stronger and more stable by a successful transition to democracy.”  Obama is assuming that Egypt will still honor the peace treaty with Israel.  Nothing really is for sure as Egypt now says they reject the possibility that the Muslim Brotherhood will recognize Israel.

Rashad al-Bayoumi, the Muslim Brotherhood's 2nd in command, said that they will not recognize Israel under any circumstances and might put the peace treaty up to a referendum.  He also has said that Israel is an occupying entity and that they will not allow anyone of our members to meet with an Israeli.

The first indications were that the Muslim Brotherhood had won, but the other party  with Ahmed Shafik, secular,  was very close.  We know how these elections can go up to the last vote.  However, it looks like the Muslim Brotherhood got the vote no matter what.

Israel's Friend, USA's Obama

June 5-10 1967 Six Day War.  Israel was attacked by surrounding Arab states of Egypt (United Arab Republic), Jordan and Syria.  Israel won and the result was to be able to have settlers live in Judea and Samaria again, our ancient stomping grounds as well as Gaza and East Jerusalem .  Israel wanted peace  within secure defensible borders.

 Arabs held a Summit Conference in Khartoum, Sudan in August 1967 and ended with 4 principals: 1. No peace with Israel; 2. No negotiations with Israel; 3. No recognition of Israel; 4. Insistence on rights of the "Palestinian people in their own country'.  Since then, Arab efforts have been towards withdrawal of Israel to pre-1967 lines by every means other than negotiations with Israel.  Who recently said that this is the way to go?  Didn't Obama bring this up? 

At Camp David, September 17, 1978,  a 5 year period was time allotted to Palestinian self-government in Judea and Samaria (the territories).  Israel's Prime Minister Menachem Begin  agreed to a 3 month freeze of settlement building only, which was understood by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.  Sadat said, "We agreed to put a freeze on the establishment of settlements for the coming 3 months, the time necessary in our estimation for signing the peace treaty."     Sadat went to Jerusalem on November 19, 1977 for a 3 day visit where he was cheered and loved for being so brave.  By January 1980 Egypt and Israel had normal relations.  Egyptians assassinated him on October 6, 1981. 

It was then in September 1980 that my husband and I made aliyah to Israel as teachers to teach English because they needed real American teachers for English. 

Netanyahu announced November 25, 2009 that he would have a 10 month settlement freeze on Judea and Samaria to "restart peace talks."  They  would freeze the building of new homes and apartments, not synagogues or schools.  It would not include Jerusalem. 

Again in November 2010, Obama tried to get Israel to renew another 3 month moratorium but it was too vague for Netanyahu as to what would happen at the end of the period.  Always the pressure was on settlement building.   Israel stopped building but it didn't bring about any peace from the Arabs, only shelling. 

Election time is drawing near.  Obama ran on being Israel's friend.  After these 4 years, we shall look to see if he kept his word.  The one thing he has been harping on is that Israel must freeze "settlements" in Judea and Samaria, as if this is the problem that keeps the Arabs from signing any peace pact.  Up till 1967, there were no "settlements" and still they wouldn't sign and have had the opportunity since 1948.  I don't know why he thinks this is now the cause.  The cause could be that making peace with Israel is not their goal.  Destroying Israel, this only Jewish state in the midst of all the Muslim ones is not to their liking.  They haven't learned to accept.  They will never learn if everyone lets them have their way.

Israel is always the one to be shamed and scolded and told to stop doing something.  Not once has a voice been raised to tell the Arabs to knock it off and get real.  I feel that Obama has tried a very different tacit to get the Arabs to consider him a friend and go along with goals of the USA, but it isn't necessarily working.  What they respect is strength, not umbrage. 

We tell each other to chill out if we are getting too worked up.  The talks between Obama and Netanyahu have been quite chilly, but at least Obama has seen to providing Israel with military aid.  Israel was receiving $2.6 billion in 2009 from USA and it has been increased to $3 billion in 2012.  USA is helping with many other facets of military aid as well.  According to the speeches I heard today, having a friend in the Middle East is to the financial advantage of the USA as it is.  They had to rent the airport to land in other countries.  Money spent on Israel is a cheaper bargain besides being the moral thing to do.  .

Muslim Brotherhood Party In In Egypt

The Muslim Brotherhood Party, wearing the robes of the newly called Freedom and Justice Party, now claims to be a non theocratic party made up of 9,000 founding members.  This is the first time they've been accepted as a legitimate party in Egypt in 80 years.  They were created in 1928 but banned in 1954 after being connected with assassinations, like of Nasser.  Unfortunately, they have remained the most organized party in Egypt. 

They have their eyes on half of the parlimentary seats up in September.  Their symbol is of two swords and the Koran.  After reading the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood as listed by Stand With Us, I know that it was a wise move that had banned them in the first place.  Their ideals have no place in the modern world trying to get along in a peaceful manner.  They were all for blood and guts of Jews.  Their freedom and justice simply does not apply to Jewish people.  I'm sure that Sadat is turning over in his grave.  Egypt is taking a step backwards.
