Israeli MKs Turned Off With Kerry's Threats

"Kerry is a mouthpiece!  What he says amounts to incitement against Israel."  So pronounced Economic Minister and Jewish Home party chairman, Naftali Bennett who evidently used facebook to say this.  He means that Kerry is simply a mouthpiece for someone, and it isn't Israel.   Bennett wrote to Kerry and all his advisers, telling them "the Jewish people are stronger than the threats against them. The Jews in Israel would not, under any circumstances, surrender their land!"  

The right-wing MK's slammed Kerry for threatening Israel with increased boycotts and international isolation.  About 2 weeks ago, Moshe Ya'alon, Israeli Defense Minister, called Kerry "obsessed and messianic" when it came to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

I note that only Israel is ever threatened.  We never hear what he says to the Arabs, if he says anything at all. At the Munich, Germany Security Conference Saturday, he told people and Israel that a delegitimate campaign was going on about Israel.  That also sounds like a threat that he would allow to take place.  Who is starting such a campaign?  Boycotts were not the only  avenue Israel was threatened with in his comment of "other things."  "Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz on Sunday morning said Israel cannot be pressured to negotiate with “a gun against its head” and that Kerry’s remarks were “offensive and unacceptable.”

Bennett explained that security will bring economic stability and not a terrorist state close to Ben-Gurion Airport.  After all, they've been living with this threat for going on 66 years now.  Many had lived in Eretz Yisrael before it became a state as well.  These threats of boycotting Israel are viewed by Jews as anti-Semitic attempts  which are not something friends do to friends.

Likud MK Tzipi Hotovely, said that Kerry's threats of  unprecedented boycotts were attempts to intimidate Israel.  He is trying to impose a dangerous agreement that goes against Israel's government completely.  Any peace agreements that undermine Israel's red-lines would be against Israel's security which is even worse than an economic boycott.  "Tzipi Hotovely (Hebrew: ציפי חוטובלי, born 2 December 1978) is an Israeli politician . She is a member of the Knesset for the Likud party since 2009. On March 18, 2013 she joined the new government of Israel as Deputy Minister of Transportation.

Hotovely is a doctorate student at the Faculty of Law in Tel Aviv University. Hotovely practises Orthodox Judaism and is a self-described "religious rightwinger".^[2] At the age of 34, she was the 18th Knesset's youngest member. She is described as the "ideological voice" of the Likud Party.^[3] She regularly campaigns for improved women's rights, and chaired the Knesset Committee on the Status of Women in the 18th Knesset, before joining the government at the beginning of the 19th Knesset in 2013.^[4]

Kerry said today that Israel's successes are just an illusion.  He threatened that if peace talks fail, Israel will be boycotted.  This came from Uri Ariel, housing and construction minister.  The truth is that the peace slogans Kerry is trying to sell to Israel are illusions.  These slogans of his are used to cover up the threat to the state of Israel.  He said that Kerry is a perfect example of what incitement looks like.  The Palestinians must be overjoyed with their "fair" mediator.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about Kerry's threats at the weekly cabinet meeting today.  These attempts are immoral and unjust.  They will not achieve their goal.  What they are doing is causing the Palestinians to "adhere to their intransigent positions and thus push peace further away."  Pressure will not cause Netanyahu to concede the vital interests of the State of Israel, especially the security of its citizens.  Kerry must have thought that Netanyahu would be a pushover because the Israelis had left Gaza in the name of peace.  Threats of boycotting will not achieve their goal with Israel.  Frankly, I don't think Kerry has been a very good listener.

What is missing here is that Kerry has not given the Palestinians reason to stop warring against Israel.  He's going along with all their demands, which would mean the very end for Israel.  They are people who have been brainwashed for over 66 years to hate Jews and the state of Israel.  Their maps in schools don't even show Israel.  They show Palestine instead.  They are living off of propaganda and Kerry has bought into it, for he's backing all their expectations that they couldn't get in all the past wars against Israel.  Everything he proposes is bad news and against Israel's security.

So What? Did Abbas Really Leave the Peace Table?

                                                      The Peace Table:  Is it now empty?

The word floating around Cairo's TV news was that the peace talks between Abbas and Israel faltered seriously yesterday or ended.  Today's headlines out of Amman, Jordan read, "Kerry warns of violence if peace talks fail."

 To divert people's attention from Abbas, the news just announced that Arafat's test shows that he just may have been poisoned by polonium after all which is pointing a finger towards Israel. It sounds more like something that Iran could have had in their cupboard of uranium-like ingredients.   Arafat's the one who wouldn't make peace, being the head of the PLO-the origin of Fatah.  It couldn't have been someone eager to take Arafat's place, G-d forbid, could it?  Abbas is an impatient soul.  After all, Arafat, after putting up with him for 56 years, was already an icon to Israel.  An enemy you know is better than one you don't know.  He was old already at age 75 and in poor health from some of his exploits.  So now Israel is going to poison him?  Come on, people.

John Kerry, US Secretary of State, warned Israel by telling this tiny state that they face international isolation and possibly more violence if it doesn't make progress in their efforts with the Palestinians.  Israel has already released violent criminals that should have been executed in any other Democratic state with such a penalty, but because Israel has no death sentence, were in prison.  Israel has been compliant to this Palestinian demand, as distasteful and dangerous as it was.    Now, what have they done in turn for Israel?  Oh yes, they've had a hissy over Israel building apartment buildings in Judea-Samaria.

 The article remains silent about any comments to the Palestinians from Kerry.  Only Israel is chastised and threatened by the USA.
                                                                     

All the Palestinians have to do is mention de-legitimization of Israel which is said to be already happening in certain circles.  I suppose international law, recognition of Israel by the UN by all the states isn't enough for Kerry to stand his ground for Israel.

Oh, if Israel doesn't comply, they may face the consequence of the Palestinians being led by a violent leader.  I imagine he's talking about Hamas, who already has much control and has been sending down mortars, rockets and missiles into Israel since 2001.  I don't think  that Kerry has done much about that in any leverage in defense for Israel.  He's not a speaker for Israel, anyway.  He's just a moderator with the job of keeping them talking till April 14th, 2014.  He's threatening more conflict.  Well, Israel has had that to put up with since 1948.  There's been very few people who ever stepped in to defend Israel's rights like there has been for the Palestinians, I note.

Jordan is making known what they  would like to have as well.  They expect a common border with this state of Palestine, the fate of the multiplying refugees displaced in 1967's war and of course, Jerusalem where Jordan has the custody now of the Christian and Muslim holy sites.  Will Jordan lose this to Palestine?  He's also complaining about Israel's building in what Palestine wants as their state, a state without any Jewish building on it.  Or people.  They do not want Jews to live in their state, only Muslims.  They don't have the altruistic attitude of   Israel or even the USA who are homes to diverse people.  They want to be the 23rd state of an all Arab all Muslim state, and they are in the act of trying to take over other religion's holy sites as well.
                                                                   
Netanyahu has explained to Obama many times that Israel will not withdraw to any pre-1967 lines because they are indefensible.  Are countries asking Israel to commit suicide?  There are other expectations that are important to Israel that are not being met.  They want to be recognized as the Jewish state.   Jews were treated as dhimmis in the Middle East, a 2nd class or lower status.  The Arabs find this a hard bone to swallow with their bloated pride.  They are planning to get back property they never owned in the first place in the heart of Israel.  Israel isn't about to give up 1/4th of Jerusalem called East Jerusalem to them, either.  It's a Jewish capital, the  capital of David, King of Israel, and not a Muslim holding.  They're doing just fine, better than ever when they were in Jordanian hands.

I wonder if anyone remembers that it was through Israel's blood and defense that they won in 1967.  Israel won that  attack.  Why should they be the ones to suffer and give  everything dear up when the losers lost?  Isn't that why people fight wars?

Sitting down and making peace with people who really have peace in their heart seems like a dream.  I know it has happened with other countries in the past.  It happened between the USA and Mexico and the USA and Japan.  It happened with USA and Canada.  It had happened with England and France and even the European  with countries and Germany.   Most all of us just want to enjoy life and live happily ever after.  We want to succeed in our endeavors to provide for our family a stable environment.  We want to enjoy the fruits of our culture; computers, I-pads, videos, movies, great schools,  our beliefs in G-d, have the right to visit and see the world.  Harboring only destruction of a people changes their view of all this.  This is what Israel is up against- a people who for for almost 66 years refuse to accept Israel and have fought them. Whereas Egypt and Jordan finally came around and signed peace accords, Palestinians have not. For people who never had a country, they are very demanding, if nothing else.  These Arabs are a hodgpodge from the surrounding areas in the first place, not a displaced people.  They came, they saw, they worked for the Jews and now they want their land.

The Palestinians had been offered their own state of Palestine in 1948 when Israel accepted a bad deal that was the remains of conferencing with the British for years with their offered deal in the Balfour Declaration.  That was a broken paper by the British, but Israel decided that something was better than nothing.;  However, the Palestinians' thinking is that nothing is better as they'll wait  to take everything.  No way, Abbas, you had your chance.  Now make peace and quit  with your demands and  braggadocia about your terrific suicide bombers and such and how this is your idea of a culture to live next to Israel who on your maps has been erased, or never posted at all.  I for one am not broken up if you leave this peace table.  You offer very little anyway but trouble.  I see no peaceful living at the end of the tunnel with you.

Kissinger Disagreed With Golda Meier Over the 1973 Yom Kippur War

According to today's article by David Ignatius in our Oregonian today, Henry Kissinger, the USA national security adviser to President Nixon,  didn't agree with 1973's Prime Minister, Golda Meier in not talking to Sadat before it all started.  He thought it could have been averted.  Kissinger then became the USA's Secretary of State in September 1973 and remained there till 1977.    He is a German Jew.  "In 1938, fleeing Nazi persecution, his family moved to London, England, before arriving in New York on September 5th."  This was a year before my uncle, Werner Oster, was able to get out of Germany as one of the last who managed to escape.  It had taken every penny his parents had to save him but could not save the rest of his family.  

I hate to argue with Kissinger, but he was working for the USA's best interests then and not Israel's. He was acting like a disinterested person in regards to Israel.   The war started on October 6, 1973 when Egypt, Syria and 9 other Middle East nations attacked Israel.  One week after the attack, and against Kissinger's own advice but through Nixon's directions, the US military conducted the largest military airlift in history to help Israel on October 12, 1973. Ignatius writes that by the 6th, Kissinger was frustrated because he had found out that Sadat had a peace initiative and had aspirations to launch his peace initiative that would allow Egypt to regain most of the Sinai and disconnect it from the larger Arab-Israeli dispute.  Kissinger hadn't even told President Nixon about the attack on Israel which occurred on Yom Kippur, the most holy Jewish day, the  Day of Atonement, when all Jews were attending a synagogue.  Kissinger didn't tell him in order to keep him from interfering.  Which side was he on, anyway?

It seems that Kissinger and his American secret diplomacy started with a secret meeting in March 1973 in Armonk, NY with Sadat's national security adviser, his mirror image, Hafez Isrmail.  The Egyptians had been publicly threatening to attack Israel to regain territory lost in the 1967 war, but that Sadat had in mind a peace initiative which turned out to be what was negotiated in Camp David Accords anyway,  5 years later.  Yigal Kipnis, author of a new book, "1973:  The Road to War," that Sadat was ready in September 1973, the month before the 11 nation attack on Yom Kippur.  His research comes from Israeli records that had just been released recently.

Kissinger talked to Yitzhak Rabin and Simcha Dinitz, Israeli ambassadors to Washington in 1973 about his secret conversations.  Rabin told his boss, Golda Meir,  about Kissinger's conversation where a peace offer was laid out, but Meir and the other Israeli leaders were wary.  Meir was against any negotiations.  She considered Sadat an enemy and didn't believe him after the threats she had received.  According to Ignatius, Meier depended on a Mossad agent who was inside Sadat's inner circle, Ashraf Marwan.  He had warned Golda 6 times that Egypt was about to go to war, and he had been wrong.  Then he warned her again just the day before the Arab nations attacked but wasn't taken seriously.  It's the old story of crying Wolf, wolf!  Had he been a double agent?  Did Israel realize that Egypt had been prepared to go to war?  For this tiny nation of about 5 million, they suffered with 2,500 soldiers killed.  The Arabs lost more than that.

By conducting this massive airlift and siding with Israel, they contributed to the 1973 oil crisis in the USA and western European allies which ended in March of 1974 in which Kissinger was the negotiator to end the war.

As usual when the Arabs have attacked Israel, Israel wins and in defending their land, attain some of the Arab land.  Tit for tat.  Something has to happen when Arabs keep attacking Israel in a war.  This time wasn't different.  Israel regained territory it lost in the early fighting and gained new territories from Syria and Egypt including the Golan Heights which it continues to hold.  This is a strategic site that is high and gives Israel a chance to see what takes place below.

They also gained land on the western bank of the Suez Canal but lost some land on the eastern side of the Canal that had been in their hands since the end of the Six Day War of 1967.

It was Kissinger who pressured the Israelis to cede some of the newly captured land back to its Arab neighbors which became the beginnings of the Israeli-Egyptian non-aggression which was a warming in US-Egyptian relations that was on the downside since the 1950's.  Peace was finalized in 1978 when Jimmy Carter was a part of the 1978 Camp David Accords.  This is when Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula  in exchange for a peace agreement including the recognition of the state of Israel by Egypt.  "After his term, his opinion was still sought by some subsequent US presidents and other world leaders."

The question remains as to when does a wary nation talk to the enemy before the big bang and they find themselves in a full blown war?  In this case, as with Iran, the country doing the threatening should not be surprised if they suddenly turn 180 degrees around and out of the blue ask for talks.  You call Wolf once too many times and who's going to believe you?  This is why Netanyahu is not anxious to talk to President Rouhani of Iran.  You are known by your reputation, whether you are a student in school  or are the President of a country.  Your words follow you.

One of my friends had been in the 1973 war.  You could say he was a sufferer from PTSD from being a tank commander.  I don't think that Israel's leaders were guilty in missing out in a chance to have peace before the attack. Chances are that Israel wouldn't have been in favor of the total package anyway but that they would have needed to sit down and discuss all the itty bitty parts of it.   How was it that the 11 nations  were so ready to attack Israel?  Be sure to read about the Yom Kippur War in my reference below.

Rouhani's Sweet Talk at UN

"Iran is on course to develop a nuclear bomb within six months and time has run out for further negotiations, a senior Israeli minister said."  Israel feels that "unless it faced a credible threat of U.S. military action, it would not stop its nuclear activities."  

The so-called new "moderate" Iranian President, Rouhani,  told the UN today that they pose "absolutely no threat to the world or the region."  To prove this he said that his country was willing to hold time-bound talks on its nuclear program.  More talks are just a stalling process for his country to continue progress.   It was emphasized that he wanted everyone to recognize Iran's right to enrich uranium and that their nuclear program is a peaceful one.  How about that?

Only about 6 days ago NBC was told they Iran will never build nuclear weapons. To show their good faith, they have freed 11 political prisoners including Mohsen Amenzadeh, a politician and the prominent human rights lawyer, Nasrin Sotoudeh.  Their case is being well orchestrated, evidently.

Then he had to get his nasty digs in about Israel by talking about Palestine, saying it is under occupation.  He went on claiming that their basic rights were being violated and that they were deprived of the right of return to their homeland.

Those of us who know the history of the Arabs that are called Palestinians, something Jews were also called who were living in  the land that was to be the Jewish Homeland, as voted by the UN's former organization, the League of Nations,   know that there never was a country of Palestine.  It was just the name the Romans gave to the land when they conquered Jerusalem in 70 CE.  Rouhani knows that Israel was created by not only the League of Nations in the 20's but also by the UN on May 14, 1948.  The Palestinians  and evidently Iran continues to propagate this myth that there had been a Palestine country and that these Arabs have been tossed out of it.

Not so.  Most all the ancestors of the present day Palestinians were people who followed Jews in their building from 1880's on.  They came from all over the Middle East as they heard about the prospects of getting jobs with them.  Now they want to take over the country.  Time spent reading Joan Peters book, From Time Immemorial would enlighten Rouhani.  Peters went to the actual original records to get her information about the "Palestinians."

If the next 9 months of meetings between Israeli and Palestinian represenatives stay on course, there will be no such thing as their right of return.  They weren't on the land designated to be a state of Palestine in the first place.  Some were here, but much fewer in number, and they left because of the Arab attack of 1948, minutes after Israel was pronounced a new state.  They left because their leaders told them that they were taking over this new state of Israel and when the attack was over, they could move back in and even take over the Jews' homes.  Weren't they surprised to find that the ones who won were the Jews.  So what did these brilliant Arab leaders do?  Tell their people to remain in refugee camps set up for them.  And there they have been for the last 65 years, pawns of their leaders led to think that they are destroying Israel this way.

It's a good thing that the Israeli delegation at the UN walked out just before Rouhani spoke.  They would be been revolted at hearing this vision of history.  Just like Amadinejad's former speeches, the Iranians take these speaking opportunities to vilify Israel.  Only last week Rouhani refused to recognize that the Holocaust actually happened.  I wonder what material he calls historic for his research?

President Obama has a different tactic.  He has reached out to Rouhani at the meeting and let the members know that he is testing the diplomatic path.  He seems to believe this could be a step down a different path than taken by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and that they are interested in reaching their potential in commerce and culture, science and education.  He recognized before all that the status quo will only deepen Iran's isolation.  The status quo has been  since 1995, that the United States has had an embargo on trade with Iran. According to a 2013 BBC World Service Poll, 5% of Americans view Iranian influence positively, with 87% expressing a negative view, the most unfavorable perception of Iran in the world.  Behind the scenes Obama has told Netanyhu that he isn't being fooled by these words.  He said that actions will speak louder.  Yes, they certainly do speak louder than promised words.  

Back in 2002, President Bush said that Iran was the axis of evil.  He saw that the proliferation of long-range missiles developed by Iran  constituted terrorism and threatened the United States.  Since then, Iran has come into nuclear material and has been working day and night frantically to manufacture what most people see as nuclear weapons.  This come from all the threats they have made on the USA and Israel.  Since Israel is standing to receive the greats threats being much closer, the USA had promised to stand by them and not allow the production to reach this point.  Was that like the Syrians who were not to reach the red line?  They've already crossed that one.  Now Syria's Assad has much more time to move his chemical arsenal over to Lebanon which has been seen on the radar.  

Israel has been greatly threatened by Iran.  "President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and his demand for "the regime occupying Jerusalem" to "vanish from the page of time", has led Israelis to fear an eventual attack from Iran."  The attitude comes from the religious leader, the Ayatollah.  A change in the presidency has not altered that, only the manner of the presentation of a new speaker. Now, instead of saying that Israel is a cancer and must be removed, Rouhani is preaching "tolerance."   Netanyhu will be at meetings on September 30 and November 1st.  No doubt he will address the Iranian developments.

Arabs Wonder About Israel and Nuclear Energy

                       Iran working madly to complete goal of possible atomic weaponry

The Arabs are after Israel again since giving her a break for two years about whether or not she has any alleged nuclear arsenal. Israel established its own IAEC on June 13, 1952.  The Arabs have been guessing about their procurement ever since, possibly. It is one of four nuclear-armed countries not recognized as a Nuclear Weapons State by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.   "Israel has never officially admitted to having nuclear weapons, instead repeating over the years that it would not be the first country to "introduce" nuclear weapons to the Middle East, leaving ambiguity as to whether it means it will not create, will not disclose, will not make first use of the weapons or possibly some other interpretation of the phrase." This is called nuclear ambiguity, which is their policy.  India, Pakistan and North Korea are not among the nations in the treaty, either.

They, of all people, are now using this as an excuse to blame Israel’s silence about it as a threat to Middle East peace.  Iran is a state that sponsors terrorists.  They are the ones who the world knows are building atomic energy and has already threatened Israel with it.

This Arab push was the main subject of their recent annual meetings of the 159-nation International Atomic Energy Agency, where usually this vote against Israel is voted down by Israel’s allies.  During 2011 and 2012 the vote was suspended which the Arabs took as a concession which kept their hopes alive on banning weapons of mass destruction from the Middle East.   That was co-sponsored by the US, Russia and Britain which was called off late last year.

Do they raise a row about Iran working madly to achieve their nuclear goals?  Not a word.  It is Iran who threatens Israel through all the mass media.  Israel has not threatened anyone.  This thought is probably one thing that keeps them from attacking again.  There should always be a question in their minds as to whether or not Israel has such weapons and if she would use them.
                                                                     

So far, this teeny country of 8,000 square miles and about 7.6 million people have been able to stave off and win all the wars that have been made against her from 1947-8 War of Independence, 1956 Sinai War, 1967 Six Day War, and 1973 Yom Kippur War.   I was there during the 1982 war in Lebanon where the Palestinians had Kiryat Shimona citizens pinned down in a bomb shelter for days on end.  Evidently they didn't bother to think about Israel's potential nuclear power when they attacked her during these past wars.

There is one state in this world who threatens us all with atomic nuclear weaponry capabilities, and that's Iran.  No doubt the first on the list to be hit would be Israel and secondly would be the USA.  Not being forgotten would be all of those that are Iran's competitors, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East who do not comply to Iran's wishes.  So what do these wise ones do?  Join Iran in picking on Israel.

Israel is most worried about Iran after receiving threat after threat from them.  They are working very fast to complete their goal, and Netanyahu feels that they will reach it within a few weeks.  This must have something to do with the Arabs reversing their attitude in the UN and picking on Israel to be under the microscope.  "In 2005, Iran made its first advance in the production of enriched uranium and subsequently established a secret nuclear research center to train scientists in all aspects of atomic technology.

John Bolton, former US Ambassador to the UN says that Israel should have attacked the Iranian reactors yesterday.  The more they wait the more in danger they are.  We remember Prime Minister Netanyahu standing before the UN warning them with a graph about the red line that Iran was nearing every day.  Sanctions have not been working.  Now the world should delve into Israel's arsenal according to the Arabs; not Iran.  Huh?  Really?

JEWISH YEAR OF 5772-5773: Our History Back There With Persia (Iran)

Update:
I wrote this article in 2012 for our Jewish New Year, and the leading problem then for Israel was IRAN.  Today, June 7, 2018, it is still the same problem, only this time Iran is in control of Syria and the Hamas terrorists of Gaza causing rockets to be fired into the Golan and the fields of Israel to be burned by kites on fire floating across the fence between Gaza and Israel.  

Ahmadinejad is no Cyrus the Great.  He's the big bully in the schoolyard that pokes fun at the little kid with glasses, calls him every name under the sun including throwing rocks at him, then runs home to Mama to say that the skinny little kid started it all.

In 2005 Ahmadinejad called Israel a tumor and a cancer, and now a vampire, just three of hundreds of derogatory names.  He has threatened Israel verbally and physically with an atomic wipe-out by building  secretive atomic facilities  and the threats to go with it like-"we'll wipe you out". He supplies the very people who attack Israel with weapons.   On Yom Kippur he told the whole General Assembly how bad Israel was and how they deserve such an end, which will come very soon.  It's as plain as day; Iran has been threatening Israel with total destruction while all along continues to build atomic facilities to manufacture such weapons.  He is using the UN to "spout paranoid theories and repulsive slurs against Israel"

At least the USA had the good sense to not attend and listen today, on Yom Kippur, the most  solemn holy day for Jews when they ask G-d for forgiveness of their sins and are repenting. The USA didn't listen to his rhetoric along with Israel.  Others walked out on him.  Most of Europe sat and listened to Mr. A say that Israel would soon be eliminated.
                                                                               

Netanyahu reminded people that history shows that those who wanted to wipe us off the map failed and that the Jewish people overcame all obstacles.  Israel's goal is to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weaponry.  Netanyahu's role is not to let the Holocaust happen again and have the 6 million Jews of Israel incinerated a second time.  You see, we've been burned once, and are not about to stick our finger into the fire again.  We know what can happen.  

Ahmadinejad, a man who just might have a few segments of Jewish genes himself, seems to know very little history of his own country, thinking it's been around since the mammoths 10,000 years ago.  Jews have been in existence right along with them since it was Abraham, (2nd millinium BCE)  a citizen of Ur "Iraq"  who created monotheism and is father of the Jewish people. Yet Mr. A tells his people that Jews have only been in the Middle East for the past 60 years.  We're like the swallows of Capistrano, Mr. A.  We're returned home to those who never left.  I doubt if history books are allowed in Iran, so it's possible his people wind up swallowing his lies.

We'll skip to about a thousand years later to the Jewish King Solomon (961-920 BCE)  who built the first Temple in Jerusalem. His father was King David who developed Jerusalem.

Along Came the Assyrians

Hoshea of Israel in 726 BCE, last ruler of Israel,  tried to throw off the yoke  that led  to Assyria's King Shalmaneser V's siege of Samaria and his imprisonment and its capture in 721 BCE by his successor, Sargon, king of Assyria (721-712 BCE).  .  Sargon annexed the country and deported 27,290 Israelites to Assyria and Media who cooperated with the Babylonians in the 6th century BCE and replaced them with Syrian and Babylonian prisoners.  Manasseh of Judah was exiled to Assyria in 652 BCE.  Then Assyria declined quickly and was succeeded by Babylon.  Sargon was assassinated.  Sennacherib took over.
                                                                           

Then Came the Babylonians

  Nebuchadnezzar (634-562 BCE) exiled the Jews of the ancient kingdom of Judah to Babylon in the 6th century BCE.  The first time was in 597 BCE when they sacked the Temple and took many of the leading men.  Babylon was dependent on Assyria.  Nebuchadnezzar had attacked Egypt in 601 BCE which led to rebellions, including Judah and that's how he captured Jerusalem and kicked out King Jehoiakim, afterwards destroying the city and temple and deporting not only the best of the men but other prominent citizens and parts of the Jewish population of Judea to Babylon.
                                                                     

Persians in the Act                

Cyrus II of Persia (Iran) lived around 600 BCE to 530 BCE and was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, creating the largest empire the world had yet seen.  He only reigned for 29 to 31 years, but respected the customs and religions of the lands he conquered.  He set the model for centralized administration and a working government to the advantage and profit of its subjects.  The Jews called him the "anointed of the lord" or the Messiah".

He is remembered for his achievements in human rights, politics, military strategy, and his influence on both Eastern and Western civilizations.  He came from Persis, which would be the modern day Iranian province of Fars.  His influence even went as far as to Athens, where they enjoyed a reciprocal cultural exchange.

Cyrus overthrew Babylonia in 537 BCE.  He allowed the Jews to return to their native land.  More than 40,000 returned.  Previous Assyrian and Babylonian rulers had not allowed the monotheistic Judaism to exist, but he did.  He even ordered the rebuilding of the 2nd Temple in the same place as the first, but died before it was finished.  Darius the Great, his replacement, saw that it was finished.  It was ready for consecration in the spring of 515 BCE, more than 20 years after the Jews' return to Jerusalem.
                                                                               

We know from the book of Esther that Haman, the forerunner of Hitler and Ahmadinejad,  was an Agagite noble and vizier under the Persian King Ahassurerus, known to the general public as Xerxes the Great (son of Darius the Great) in the 6th century BCE.  Haman and his wife, Zeresh, instigated a plot to kill all the Jews of Persia, and it was a huge empire then.  They might have well said the whole world.  The plan was stopped by the beautiful Queen Esther, who was married to the king. She and her uncle Mordecai were Benjamites.   Haman and his 10 sons were hung as a result.  Jews have celebrated every year since then with their happy holiday of Purim.  At that time, there were lots of Jews living right in the capital of Shushan.

But today there are very few left.  Many have immigrated to Israel, the USA and abroad.  About 30 some years ago a group of Jewish lads escaped out of the country on camels.  A few were shot.  It had become irrepressible to be a Jew and live in freedom in Iran.  In 1989 there were only 20,000 remaining there.

Ahmadinejad seems to love to stick it to Israel as to what horrors will happen to them, definitely mental cruelty.    He should be told about what happened in Queen Esther's day.  He wants to be the big shot and get rid of all the Jews and Israel so that Israel can become a totally  Islamic land.  Then he'll be the big savior to all the Middle Eastern Muslims and have the Western powers at his knees as dhminnis states.  They just might be next on his list.  Well, Haman probably had the same scheme.  He didn't get very far. Since Israel has combated his threats with warnings of taking out their atomic plant, he is sure yelling about it, just like the bully on the playground in the UN today.

It's interesting that the 50-60 million Pashtuns of Afghanistan,  Pakistan and India claim descent from the tribe of Benjamin, Queen Esther's tribe and the other lost 10 tribes,  and that their respected countries are very close to Iran.  In fact, the Pashtun language has some Persian qualities in it as it belongs to an eastern Iranian language group from Avestan, the oldest preserved Iranian group, maybe from Queen Esther's day.    Their people are  fair-skinned and the men are outstanding fighters known for their good looks and height.  It could be that they were right there in the city of Shushan right along with Queen Esther and Mordecai, but had become  the Lost 10 Tribes of Israel later.

Ahmadinejad Did It Again

Ahmadinejad, that old Holocaust denier, who  has threatened to obliterate Israel and likes to call it a "cancerous tumor", tried to show how unruffled he is of the possibility that Israel might try to wipe out his little nuclear program. Both he and the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been getting into the act.  Khamenei is angry with the US's words about Iran, mainly with Obama's saying that "all options are on the table."  Khamenei  bluffed with saying that the war will be worse for the USA than Iran.

Now Ahmadinejad is saying that Israel is nothing more than a mosquito.  Iran's leaders tell each other these things and then they believe it's true.  He says he doesn't need war to get Israel destroyed anyway.  He's counting on boycotts to destroy them, which is something the West is doing in moderation to Iran to get them to be open about what they are doing.

Amadinejad, after taking office in 2005, said that with G-d, they shall soon see a world without the USA and Zionism.  How nice of him.  Only Israel has taken him quite seriously.  The USA seems to be quite unruffled by his comments.  The only problem is that his comments are followed up by actions that do not look peaceful, like getting to the point of having the capacity to make atomic warfare.

The more nothing is really done by the big powers to prevent a state with a bad resume filled with warlike intentions, the more Israel feels that Iran's intentions could come to fruition.  So far there are a lot of meetings throughout the world.  That might be enjoyable for those attending, but it gives a lot more time for Iran to finish their deadly project.  So far they've met in Istanbul, Turkey which was "constructive and useful." according to Catherine Ashton, chief of EU foreign policy..  Iran will stall with more talks with the USA, Russia, China, Germany, France and Britain, the big P5+1.  They get to meet again in Baghdad on May 23rd.  Before that meeting, they will hold just "discussions" in Vienna, Austria.  They do get around.  I suppose they can take all this traveling off of their income taxes as well.  They don't seem to be in a hurry and meet the time limit of the "window of opportunity."

Amadinejad refuses to admit there was a Holocaust that slaughtered 6 million Jews and Israel has no intention to allow that to ever happen again.  When a country's political dealings consists of outright hatefulness like Ahadinejad has for Israel,  you have to beware. The heads of this country are radical fanatics.  We know what the world is capable of.doing.

USA Pollyannish Towards Iran's Threats

Ahmadinejad’s Iranian policies are the world’s biggest threat right now. It’s not because Iran is on the verge of being able to create atomic weapons, such as bombs, but because he is warning a world power, the United States, who has turned into Pollyanna. Ahmadinejad is the face of a country bent on destroying completely the people and land of another; Israel. After attaining the position as the most powerful and wise country, the superman to all nations, the USA has just become one of the guys.

Islam has the reputation of giving warnings before striking, and even as late as November 2011 Ahmadinejad, in an interview with Al-Akhbar newspaper of Egypt, said that Israel’s end will be near and that Iran’s capabilities are increasing. He warned that now Israel and the West, particularly America, fear Iran’s capabilities.

He was wrong. Israel certainly takes the warning to heart, but the USA is still in denial. They just broke an agreement with Israel to stand their ground in dealing with Iran in a meeting a few days ago, giving Iran months more to complete the act of working on their atomic energy. They went back on their word to Israel in Columbia without warning. Iran must be super happy as they are racing toward creating nuclear weaponry. They have continued to enrich uranium, build new nuclear facilities and are violating mandatory Security Council resolutions, and the USA is now helping them do so by prolonging time for them. American delegates are more concerned with the sanctions put on their heads instead of what Iran’s scientists are doing in the interim.

Iran has continually told the world their intention is to destroy Israel. Here are Ahmadinejad’s statements at an anti-Israel demonstration for Quds (Jerusalem Day) in Teheran on August 2011.

1. There is no room for Israel in the region.
2. The West and the Zionist regime will have no base in the Middle East.
3 Israel was created on lies.
4. The Zionist regime is the axis of unity among all thieves and criminals of the world.

Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader just in February 2012 said : :

1. Israel is a danger to Islam. The opportunity must not be lost to remove this corrupting material.
2. It is a “jurisprudential justification” to kill all Jews and annihilate Israel.
3. The Islamic government of Iran must take the helm in that.

Iran supports the Palestinians such as Hamas who have been attacking Israel with mortars, missles and rockets. They also support Syria. This makes Israel’s very existence in grave danger as Iran is committed to its destruction. It’s up to the world that believes in fairness to fight for Israel’s security and for a peaceful future for all. The danger of another Holocaust is very real for the Jewish people.

Iran: Israel's Nemesis and Their Nuclear Advancement

Wednesday brought news about Iran's advancements in technology in producing nuclear energy.  They said they'd talk about their nuclear program with officicals but would continue their drive toward nuclear self sufficiency.  In the past Iran has just angered the West by appearing to buy time with opening talks and weighing proposals while all the time they were hurrying along with their nuclear program.

The big news was that they just inserted their first homemade fuel rods into their research reactor in northern Tehran.  A new generation of centrifuges were installed and are in operation at Natanz, which is in central Iran.  They are producing nuclear fuel on their own.  On February 10th, they advanced their methods and produced almost 20% enriched uranium up from the 5% they were at,  showing they are getting around sanctions. 

Israel is most concerned because of the threats made to them.  Back on October 26, 2005, Iran's Broadcasting told of Ahmadinejad's speech to a conference in Asia: Ahmadinejad: Israel must be wiped off the map.  The speech was to the "World Without Zionism" conference.   He announced that the Ayatollah Khomeini said Israel must be wiped off the map and this was wise.  They are backing Arabs wanting to create a Palestine without coming to terms with Israel.  To do so would be a defeat in their eyes and it would mean a defeat of the Islamic world. 

Ahmadinejad continued saying that the issue with Palestine would be over "the day that all refugees return to their homes and they come into power".  Therefore, they are against normal relations with Israel and condemn all Muslim leaders who accept the existence of Israel.  To them this is a surrender and defeat of the Islamic world. 

Israel withdrew from Gaza on August 15, 2005 with its completion by September, and Ahmadinejad thought this was a trick to gain recognition or acknowledgment from Islamic states.  Two days later he held a rally and said that he spoke for his people and what the West thought didn't matter. 

Hamas, who took over Gaza and kicked out Fatah's Abbas, reflects the Iranian philosophy, but Abbas seemed to want to make peace.  However, he's now in cahoots with Hamas, perhaps with the theory that if you can't beat them you join them. 

It's no wonder that Israel has said that if sanctions and all other forms of stopping Iran's wiping Israel off the map with nuclear power doesn't work, they will feel they will have to try to stop their attempts, even alone if necessary.  Computer viruses managed to attack Iran's computers that were working on the nuclear program, but must have been cleared out.  It helped to stall their progress for awhile, and naturally the first people Iran blamed was Israel. Mostafa Ahmadi Rashun, 32, nuclear scientist was killed and Israel, CIA and the opposition faction in Iran, the People's Mujahedeen of Iran (MEK) have been blamed. 

In 1981 Israel hit the Osiraq nuclear reactor in Iraq to squelch their nuclear goals of making a bomb to use on them.  It's thought that they also attacked a similar site in Syria in 2007.  Both had reactors above ground, and it was much easier than any attack on Iran's facilities, which are now spread across Iran and are underground.  Israel is very creative, but this may be an impossible task if they wait past the window of opportunity.  At any rate, they will need a miracle to accomplish this, and they have the USA telling them to keep holding off.     

On Monday Iranians planted bombs to harm Israelis, injuring an Israeli diplomat's wife in India who was in their minivan.  Another attempt was foiled in Georgia on the same day, and one in Thailand on Tuesday.  Israel is not retaliating over this.

Iran is Dangerous

Most of today's letters in the Oregonian about Iran show little knowledge about what's happening there. Some letters were questioning our right to expect other countries like Iran to not have nuclear weapons when we have so much of it.

Iran has the main training camp near Isfahan for terrorists from Iraq, Afghanistan, Baluchistan, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The training staff are teaching how to sabatage strategic targets like routes, bridges and military installations, and in activating roadside bombs (EFPs which had deadly effects on American troops in Iraq. They also have munitions factories that send missiles and bombs to these places.

Just today Ahmadinejad said "Israel would soon disappear off the map and that the "satanic power" of the United States faced destruction" when speaking to foreign guests marking the week's 19th anniversary of the death of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989.

One letter believed the 2003 report that Iran had ended its nuclear weapons program already and is not doing anything illegal and is not threatening anyone with it. They believe it's a misquote that Iran threatened to wipe Israel off the map!

Two days ago their defense minister Gen. Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar warned us: "Iran's Armed forces are fully prepared to counter any military attack with any intensity..they will make the enemy regret initiating any such incursions."

Iran is very close to having atomic weapons. That's the worry.They have made threats repeatedly and could carry them out. I've read that they are only about three months away from having their weapons.
